What - there'll be no longer trains from LB to Charing X ?

Fire engines outside last night - I'd wondered what was up (assumed a fire). I know these chaps, hope the guy recovers quickly.

The ED -> LB is buggered, for some time yet. So it's time to consider alternatives - they clearly are alternatives precisely because they do NOT deliver a carbon copy service.

Yup. Just passed Shoreditch on this half-empty, plenty seating, Overground train. I'm working just North of City (thanks heavens) and get a bus down after a 29 min journey from PR. Can I expect some 'blow-ins' from the LB line ?!

But it's down to the hassle and the certainty isn't it ? With the LB service you're getting loads of the former and very little of the latter.

It may be worth seeking assurances in advance that the yellow lines will be removed once works completed - sounds obvious now but will be a bigger struggle later to try get them removed. With yellow lines there it's another parking fine opportunity to be milked. You can bet 'communication' in the form of parking tickets will be a lot more timely and obvious than the (non) notice of these works was.

Haven't seen this down my end.

Have to say, I was after a huge side gate made of wrought iron with specific measurements. I was quoted ?1150 to have it made so watched eBay for a couple of months and got an even better gate for ?35 and popped over to pick it up in Richmond. If you have the time it's a possible alternative. Next door to me had their front gate / railings made to order from on-line company.

There's definitely some people been on here longer than others who perhaps through early forum drinks know each other personally / face-to-face, those drinks (as far as I know) are less frequent which possibly prevents the same level of bonding for newer folks ? But so feckin what. There's a bit of banter is all, I think it's all fairly healthy. I certainly don't take the piss as keenly on this forum as I would face to face, it's easy to cause offence on-line. Any perception of anything 'organised' IMO is conjecture at best.

Hold on a minute ? Integrating with what ?! This isn't Lacock, some national heritage village where everyone has to oblige as if they're still living in 1640. It's a formerly run-down suburb that, by a stroke of luck, has had a steady influx of people with ideas and motivation to add their little bits to the area, bringing it into the current decade rather than three decades out of date - you can take it or leave it but it's just plain churlish to wax cynical over it. Been here since 1990. Bought because it was the cheapest place I could afford the largest house I could envisage ever needing, have enjoyed every stage of change, I miss some things and welcome some new things. If it became such a bain I'd move away - God knows we've made enough equity to now have the CHOICE, so what's the issue ?!!!!!! Buy a 3 bed terrace in Ventnor for ?200K and experience the same shite shops, shite food, shite high st with almost zero rate of change that ED had 25 years ago !!
