Fireworks going off in Bellenden/Oglander/Copleston area
KidKruger replied to Mustard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"You are not supposed to give your dog loads of cuddles when they are scared of noises.." Maybe, but when he comes to me and sits on my lap he's doing it for reassurance, which I don't mind providing - he's scared. Walking him tonight in the woods he stayed by my side very wary of the fireworks, he looks to me as a guardian at these times - and if I sit on a bench he climbs on top of me, like this evening. He's scared of thunder too when I also don't begrudge him some comfort. -
V1 & V2 Bombs dropped on Lordship Lane.

I think ComputedShorty us your man, from memory he knows / can point you to dates and details - from memory his Dad was builder in charge of assessing damage and instructing works like shoring-up and demolition. That bomb damaged the top floor of my (3 storey) house, which had to be replaced. -

Mustard, I have a hound too and he's scared shitless by the fireworks. Taking him for a walk during evenings the last week or so he's been very afraid when the pops and cracks happen. There's some good advice on this thread, but calling the council I'm afraid is the least effective action you can take. This is what happens this time of year in built-up areas, year-in, year-out. Even though I've got a dog, I got him knowing the environment I'm living in. It's loads of cuddles and a bone for him during evenings. -
Well that told me - Hopkins loses on points ! Talk about durable. And we now know Kovalev can box. (so temping to edit last post quickly...)

In the early hours of tomoro morning Bernard Hopkins will be putting his two LightHeavyweight world titles up against Sergey Kovalev's one world title. Kovalev has been avoided by all the other top heavyweights, he exposed Nathan Cleverly, he's knocked out 23/25 opponents he's faced. Hopkins has chosen this fight to unify the titles and become undisputed champion at the weight. Hopkins will not lose this fight on points, because Kovalev can't outbox him. He can only lose by KO. Hopkins cannot win by KO, he can only win on points. This means Hopkins has willingly chosen to spend 12 rounds in the ring with a wrecking machine. He gets my total respect for stepping-up and challenging Kovalev in pursuit of unification. He may have seen something he can exploit, something the other top LHW fighters have not seen (or are unable to see). But he's got serious balls for setting-up this contest. And all this, regardless of what his age is- even if he was in his early 30's he'd be brave to take this fight.

Perhaps when it comes to selling-on you could get a BTL mortgage, releasing 75% of the equity anyway, so you can still move on.

I think it's extremely subjective what the house is 'worth'. If you want it then pay enough to get it, if that's a bit less than a house around the corner that doesn't need underpinning, then great. But the market still favours the seller in London so it's not as if you can deliberate all day long - if you want to be sure of getting the property.

Ha ha ha - only asking what you think is missing because you hadn't been specific about your proposed food offering additions but HAD been specific in damning North X market. I can understand dissatisfaction obviously but my question was the obvious (not really answered, yet) one. -

Yes they have a policy, there's also a waiting list. When/if you get a place is a function of what you're offering and whether at the time a place becomes available they did it will fit / duplicate what remains at that time. -
I had to ask for the mustard three, yes THREE, times yesterday in a local cafe. But feck it, I think the place should still be allowed to continue trading. Even though they completely ruined my day (if not, week).

You already posted this 10 mins earlier on the duck egg cafe thread, so why the need for another, separate, ADDITIONAL thread ?! The information's already been put out there, right ? Is it a vendetta now ?

Fly-tipping in SE22 -- bang to rights!
KidKruger replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Pinecone has a point - to a point. There's no obligation on the complainant to engage with people directly, this is why the local authorities provide the facility for such issues (noise, fly-tipping, doggy poo, etc.) to be raised via their departments. You never know who's going to open the door to you, or how aggressive a response you're going to be subjected to - people do tend to get defensive/irritated when caught-out. Fly-tipping is frequent around here and one can get fed-up with the mess left. It would be improbable to draw the conclusion that every instance is someone's rubbish having been robbed without their knowing then put in a bag some place else nearby. I complained several years ago in person to some chaps nearby about angle-grinding from a garden being used to run a wrought iron business (incl. Saturdays and Sundays). A couple of hours later I had 4 men threatening me on my doorstep and until I got them out of my front yard I didn't know how nasty it was going to get. One minute I'm basting the chicken, the next a bloke's being held back by his mates as he snarls, "we know where you live, c***". One shouldn't have to be exposed to that, nor have to gamble on it not happening by 'doing the right thing' and speaking-out in person to try and resolve a problem. It may work out nicely, it may turn nasty. However, of course, all personal engagement, if undertaken, should be polite and courteous. I just think it's naive to make coverall statements that ignore potential trouble. -

Bob S" This is true, I removed the gas piping for the lighting from that house when the sisters had moved out. In the bedrooms on each chimney breast were 2x runs of thin gauge gas pipes leading to fittings which held the flame and had to be lit by hand.
