  1. Alan M - wow that sounds like real service !! This IS the UK, right ?!
  2. -- moved topic --
  3. Never had any action until early 20s, definitely late starter, not for want of trying though... Although, when I was 14 there was a 14 year old girl I went to the park with, she put my hand down her panties and asked me to rub in very specific places, which I did, after some time she started to get all tense and held her face in her hands sitting there. I was worried and said was she OK, she said shutup keep rubbing don't stop - then she froze up for a few seconds then went all pink. My mate of 12 was sat there the whole time with us, he was as startled as me. When she regained her composure I said what happened, she said oh nothing just a fit. Never did figure out what happened there....
  4. Isn't that the story up and down the country though - people over spending keeping up appearances ? East Dulwich didn't invent it ! You seem determined to pin your prejudices locally though don't you ? Just imagine in ANOTHER 10 years what it'll be like !!!!!
  5. Succinct and yet to the point eh Paul !?
  6. Today = Pilau rice, fish curry, popadum, pickle = ?4.90
  7. OK cheers muchly.
  8. using 'oh' as part of a phone number is fine, because everyone knows there are no letters in telnos, and it's quicker than saying zero. Only for (say) passport nos or other strings which have potentioal of zeros AND 'ohs' do we need to be so specific. technically it's arguable, but not for real-world usage. In IT, I can see the point also. "Let me be honest with you" (translates to "normally I'm dishonest when speaking with you")
  9. Thanks for answers. OK so when you select items you'll have already stated (somewhere on the website) which branch you're intending to pick-up from ? (otherwise they cannot know they have the stock, cos you haven't said where youre gonna collect).
  10. anyone tried this through the peckham branch ? if you order on-line is it definitely Peckham you can arrange to collect at, or could you end-up collecting half of what you ordered there and then being told to got to (ie.) Basildon for the remainder ? Is there a lead-time by which you need to order (so Peckham branch can ensure they have the stock) ? Any tips appreciated.
  11. Jeez you had to edit THAT 3 times ? Maybe you're not a bot after all ! You sure are loved-up man.
  12. One thing worth pointing out with the 'Five' is that when making calls you cannot hear the person you're talking to, it's really REALLY quiet and tinny, like someone calling from Mars via a tin can and string type of set-up. However I found a solution all by myself. If you peel-off the protective sheet of plastic from the front of the phone, amazingly you can hear just as good as on any other mobile phone !
  13. nonpret - I received a call from my mortgage advisor today, I mentioned your situation and, while not promising anything (i don't know the specifics anyway), he said he'd be happy for me to pass on his details to you. PM me and I'll return with the contact info. Regards, KK
  14. There are some great recipes for (vinegar) pulled pork in North Carolina - there seems to be a 'war' between East and West of the State over who makes the best. One side does vinegar-based, the other side does something different, I can't remember which does which, but all tasted good to me ! You may wanna try WWW.
  15. Sue - I think he moved Herne Hill way. For a while he was running a weekend / Saturday record fair if I remember right, but gone quite. I think a couple of people on here are still in touch with him - and his id may still be active if you PM Him.
  16. could be a lot of grief, don't set yourself up for a protracted financial nightmare.
  17. Sure I can attach some pics if that's what you mean.
  18. Cheers Civil, I'll have a look. If I can identify the tree species and it the planting proximity doesn't match the advice on the RHS link you've provided I'll ask the Council what their rationale is (and whether they have ever planted a huge tree next to their buildings).
  19. I'm not a horticulturist, as is probably obvious already, but common sense (and survival of the species) suggests a tall tree needs to be well grounded so it can take the wind / weather. A 40ft tree planted 8ft from a large house is gonna have roots going under the house since it's so close. I'd bet my house on it - in fact the Council have already bet my house on it, and my neighbour's, by planting the f*cking tree. I'm all for green measures etc, but it's not very green-efficient causing a house structure to fail and causing the repairs which will add up to a lot of energy being used in materials/transport etc. Multiply this by many many houses and it's an insane approach.
  20. Rye Lane, veg stall at Sikh shop near Dulwich Library (variable quality - but some deals at time so always worth checking out), Brixton market, Khan's for non-food stuff like deodorant, toothbrushes, cleaning products, housekeeping products. Co-op for what I can't get in above places or pushed for time. Sainsbury's as a conscious last resort. Overpriced and soul-less.
  21. It's sorted now thanks. I called Vodafone this morning they said just turn new phone on/off again and i got signal. Combination of not enough info form Vodafone and my technical ignorance. Thanks all.
  22. I'm a big English (and American) folk fan. I'm trying to set up a pure English folk night (part of a cultural exchange with Indians) in West End early NY, I'll let you know if it materialises.
  23. I think it's only available via folk clubs, Cecil Sharp House-type institutes or internet searching now. It's a shame cos it's our history. Sue will know more I think. It may even be regarded by some boroughs as discriminatory to focus on English songs due to mixed ethnicity demographic in the classroom, just as many schools in America had to rename Christmas period.
  24. If I'd sold it knowing for sure it works and having never had issues previously and having always looked after the item (not chucking it around etc.) then I'd be reticent to engage in complaints because by the nature of the transaction it's sold as seen isn't it ?
