  1. I think the intention with Maccarinelli is to campaign down at LH weight, i the hope he can take his power down there and not face such big hitters. I mean if he'd faced Marco Huck at CW he'd have been KO'd in 2-3. At LH Cleverley would be unlikely to KO Macca and other fighters might also struggle to KO him (compared to CW). Incidentally, Marco Huck faced Povetkin to try and get the WBA "let's pretend we're a champion" belt (One of the Klits has the 'real' WBA belt, don't ask). Huck was the aggressor and caught Povetkin enough times early on to weaken him and take his legs away. Povekin looked unsteady several times and even after the final bell needed help to stand straight. Povetkin got the decision which surprised me, not because he didn't deserve it (he didn't) but because it's Germany and the results seem to be pre-ordained and I'd expected the powers-that-be wanted Huck to reign.
  2. Jeremy: "He inherited a vacant title, and has never faced a top-10 fighter.." fair point. he made out he challenged Shuminov and Shuminov's team said they'd never heard owt, by reply to the 'claim' they said they'd happily fight Cleverly -all they have to do is talk dates and the deal's made. Cleverly's team went quiet. Last night's contest against Cleverly was annoying. Cleverly was fighting a guy who has a full-time job in a hospital looking after mental health patients and administering medication. A guy who has rarely fought higher than club-level, who HAS sparred with Shuminov and other top 20 fighters but, as per comments from commentators during the contest, may be fixed in a sparring mode - constantly taking / blocking his opponents punches. 12 rounds and Cleverly couldn't get him out of there, he should be ashamed of himself (a) for the light effort he took on in choosing the guy, and (b) for not being able to close the show. Bad mark on his card I reckon. Not the fantastic 'homecoming' fight one would have hoped. Clev's combinations and work rate were great, but he didn't stop the guy, which is the point of all the punching. On the other hand, Karpency did extremely well considering he suddenly found himself challenging for a world title. He took some shots and although seemingly ready to quit in round 4 he continued after pressure from Dad in his corner. I'd like to see Shumenov or Chad/Tavoris. Or maybe an all-Welsh contest against Maccarinelli, who's way-more known than 'Karpency' and had recently stepped down to light-heavy weight.
  3. had a peek in this morning, it's actually a lovely open area, the light from the glazed front penetrates right through. there's the making of a bar counter at the 'back' (as you look in from the side) though can't tell if that'll eventually be moved to somewhere else. It look as though they may be re-using some of the features removed from the original partition and bar counters.
  4. Went a couple of weeks ago I thought it was good he is a clever painter. I particularly likd what he'd done with the video screens, though had to watch a while to get it. The stuff done on iPads was good, then I realised it was done on iPads. Clever bastad.
  5. Ever read the book Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon ?
  6. Yeah Chisora did very well, took some punishment yet did not display evidence of being particularly phased. I think Chisora needs to work on his conditioning, however to attack someone full-on for most of 12 rounds is quit a feat. Vitali was either old or becoming old and found Chisora's style tough. Vitali's skills are too much for Chisora at this stage but it went 12 rounds which is rare against Vitali. The other behaviour is not acceptable, however having been given a hotel where you cannot sleep, being told your previously agreed hand wraps are not legal and they must be removed and re-done, being deserted by the British Board of Boxing Control when they're needed must have been a torture. The Klitchkos do not play a straight game, they screw with you before you get in the ring, mess with your accommodation, mess with your transport to/from the arena, mess with your signature tune (he wasn't allowed the theme tune form Only Fools & Horses) and try to generally piss you off. They pissed Derek off. I'd say what he did was well out of order, but don't piss someone off if you don't want anyone to act pissed-off. I guess if he's been arrested it's for 'assault' - either slapping Vitali or spitting water at Vlad ?
  7. Woodstock New Hampshire and Stowe Vermont are in scenic areas, maybe not key tourist places but they're on scenic routes. I toured there in a car as a passenger a few years back, I'm sure the scenery's the same tho ! Camping is great in that area. Motels with vibrating beds, good restaurants, maple syrup.
  8. So Chisora slaps Klitschko hard in the face and very likely sealed himself a very punishing beating this evening. OR has he wound Klit up so he'll come out angry and forget to be careful, leaving Chisora openings to bash him up bigstylee ??
  9. If you leave your job and do formally address depression, be aware that starting in a new position / temp role you may have to fill-in a from where you tick against illnesses / conditions listed. If you tick against mental health / depression you may be disadvantaged - however you are obliged to be honest.
  10. Oh, and forget the 'hobbies and interests' bit. I'm interviewing staff now and couldn't care less whether someone is a bell ringer, breeds newts in their pond in Kent or is almost qualified as a Scout master.
  11. Interesting how Fury who'll "fight anyone, me" has given up his British/Commonwealth titles since David Price KO'd McDermott. He realises that if he loses to Price he'll be out of the rankings and lose a couple of years getting back to that level of opponent. So he's gonna vacate his domestic titles and perhaps face Price later in his career. Price v Chisora could be on the card before the year's out if Chisora loses to Klitschko.
  12. Maybe you can tell your firm you want to leave and ask them for a reduced notice period (2 weeks ?) while you look for a contract and they look for a replacement ? It's free to ask. I don't know about PA work availability. There's plenty of PMO work if you want City/bank/finance work within projects/programmes. That may qualify as the 'admin' work you mentioned ? People with strong MS office skills, understanding of project structure and deliverables, basic project management appreciation and reporting/MI experience generally qualify for PMO contracts, without getting into products or specific business-areas.
  13. Mine's 6-7 pages never had complaints, maybe it depends on the sector you're in. I think it makes a difference to explain what you did/delivered rather than what yo 'were involved in', 'contributed to' or other such vaugeness.
  14. I guess they're not showing Chisora / Klitschko at CPT then, it's shut. Anywhere else around SE22 that'll be showing the contest, or might if asked ? I know it's on BoxNation for a ?10er per month, but prefer a bar.
  15. For the bastad bits I have used Spirits of Salts but it's a dangerous liquid, 37% hydrochloric acid, eats anything organic and I find that includes oven filth. be extremely careful with it though. Dulwich DIY do 500ml (?3) or 1 litre bottles (?4). Wear rubber gloves, protect your arms and wear builders goggles and don't breath the fumes. If it sizzles it's found something organic, hopefully not your skin !
  16. My God El Pibe, do you remember that guy ???!! Was he a coke head ? He'd leave the house at 3am with a little dog and a huge ghetto blaster and set-off down towards Goose Green. I wonder what happened to him. CPT used to get slightly noisy sometimes, mainly summers when either everyone was outside or the doors were wedged open and some DJ was on. I did stroll over once at 01.15 and tell them to park it.
  17. Fair point foxy, I live opposite CPT and bought it knowing it may be rowdy around and after 11 as everyone goes home. When it was a busy popular pub now and again i may get disturbed but in full knowledge that it'll end soon. If they extended to 2am or something I'd be pretty pissed off and would propose against it of given the opportunity.
  18. So speculators may with to buy Euros in hope of a big win ?
  19. I'm interested in what the range of consequences you believe are likely in the event if Greece fails to meet it's sovereign debt obligations and actually defauls. What will happen to the value of the Euro ? If the Euro is 'suspended' (I think that's the term I've heard used) how do those countries using the Euro operate financially ? I'm sure there's many possible outcomes, but what, in your opinion, are they likely to be ?
  20. No, someone clearly unskilled is laying bricks which are not bonded and NO effort has been made to do a basic job. You could not do this job so badly if you'd had ANY training in brick laying or basic building. The fact it'll be eventually buried and not carry sewage is irrelevant to how fit for purpose it is. Any works inspector would not sign this off, it's sub-standard, the absolute minimum possible has been done. Funnily enough there are so many posters who demand quality builders on this forum, yet propose shite work is OK as long - as it's done elsewhere, presumably !! A chamber even for holding cables, needs to bear it's own weight and the sideways forces from the surrounding terrain, to ensure best chance of longevity the bricks need to be laid squarely, corners completed and bonded properly. If not, the longevity of the structure cannot assumed, it's just down to luck. If you judge this work as acceptable you're not going anywhere near my ferking printer cartridges ! London stocks would be a stupid choice of bricks as they absorb moisture as I'm sure you know. The engineering bricks used ARE solid but the bricks on their own don't ensure a viable construction - obviously.
  21. Even if it's privately funded someone is being mugged and it's not cool to watch someone get mugged and just walk by.
  22. There's not much to interpret, it's shite work, really shite. It's not bonded at all (technique for overlaying the bricks and building corners for strength), the joints look empty, the vertical joints are inconsistent. You'd have to gamble that if the same level of skill was deployed to mix the mortar, then this is an absolute disaster. The only conceivable reason I can believe anyone has done this in broad daylight is in the hope that no-one pays too much attention before the footings are covered and the problem buried until inevitable structural problems occur. If you know who's paying for this, bring it to their attention with these pics because this is total robbery.
  23. Loz: "...PDPs were made by DEC, not IBM..." I realised, once born, that they were DEC machines after all. Fair point.
  24. UDT I have to confess I was programming in assembler from a very young age, practically from when I was an embryo in fact. This included coding the moves for chess pieces, of course, mainly on IBM PDP-11s. If I needed to drop some code in in straight Hex, not a problem either. By comparison your computing skills seem ordinary. Bless.
  25. Katie1997 said: How could financial institutions provide a suitable product for the customer if it was based on incorrect or deliberately dishonest information provided to them by the customer? Or is this more about them doing sufficient checks before dishng out the products so still they are at fault? (The banks). I think Jeremy means the latter. Determining the 'suitable' products is more realistically the banks developing a portofolio of products that they believe will generate revenue from provision for the key financial events and needs the general public are likely to have. This will be a function of market research, experience and developmental products. Before the crash it was common practice for people to abuse the mortgaging facilities at banks, to obtain debt they could not afford in the pursuit of a propery portfolio they hoped to be able to cover though rent or home inprovements / renovations and resale.
