    a joke

Genuine email I got this morning: " someone just got hit by a bus on Edgware road....do not know if he was cycling. NEVER EVER CYCLE AND NEVER EVER BE STUPID IN HOW YOU CROSS THE BLOODY ROAD!!! " then, later: " he must be dead. Apparently his body was under this great big truck :( " He must be crushed.
  2. good question WOD. however I think that the short item / thread header itself usually carries most weight, if the item is desirable it will be spotted and there will be subscripton. perhaps admin would advise the busiest/quietest posting periods on a weekly/monthly basis onthe For Sale board. i think weekends are going to be quiet periods for parents with families. late week and weekend evenings quietest for single adults / those with no kids (because they may be out and about). and so on..
  3. The only people who 'need retiring' are those who would see others retired on grounds of their AGE. This is because judging people on a characteristic which no-one can control and which in real terms has no bearing apart from perhaps a physical one (looks/strength) is irrational and prejudice. What's next ? A thread on which ethnic minorities shall we lynch / sexual orientation bashing ? Basic blind discrimination. Next tell me the youngest in society add the MOST value. This society, on the whole, automatically discards old people as irrelevant and superfluous. Our loss IMO. This reminds me of the newsreader (Moira Stewart ?) who was 'retired' or released because she apparently didn't look 'fresh' enough. Sick.
  4. pride of lions. pack of cards.
  5. Yeah I heard that. What a classic. Not only was he dumbfounded by his 'slip-up' causing him to stammer, but it affected his reading of the headlines at 0800, there must have been a sea of laughing faces glaring at him in glee. Hopefully James Hunt didn't take it to heart, or maybe he gets it all the time, as culture minister..
  6. ratty - main roads are fine (though go slow), just drove over from Bermondsey.
  7. OK, OK. I did skip the other posts in my eagerness to post my answer. I get it now and will do the walk o' shame...... (really slowly)
  8. What ! I thought, that was an astute, funny and relevant answer !! Clearly, the Pope is excluded from the answer - you do get that don't you ?? maybe I'm slow, but racing past YOU eh, Jessers ?!
  9. Why do women fake it ? Because they think that men care ;-)
  10. "Who are Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Aristotle and the Pope?" The Three Wise Men ?
  11. pure class felt-tip !
  12. I hate asking the standard 'how are you ?' because often you get the stock answer 'not bad' ! An equally dishonest answer in most cases I bet.
  13. Today I discovered a great track: Yarab Tere Karam Se Hai (Niaz Aur Namaz) Just checked on youtube and they got it, not quite as pacy as the version I have on iphone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrSaJEoQX4Q If you watch it, it picks up at around 1min 5 secs on the funny youtube clip. the film looks dire though ! turns out this is from 1977 when we were doing punk.
  14. I'm setting off from ED to near Tower Bridge at 6pm if anyone wants a lift. If you're trying to get to LB, it's a 11min walk from where I am parking on South Bermondsey St. You need to be outside the CPT at 6 when I leave.
  15. I think Huggers means the @Station Manager Corner' thread.
  16. given that people on here are saying they're so confident about their this/that, some reactions suggest the opposite. example - if you're confident about your religion you don't get shirty about it when people question or poke fun at it. There will always be disrespecters. There's been a few amateurish comments on here from, presumably, men (given the banality of the comments) - i think some men are genuinely threatened by the fact that women also have sexual needs (no way !!!), often exceeding yer average man's, and are ready to sort themselves out, in spite of/as well as having a partner already. sort of like it trash's the man's idea of being the all-vanquishing supercock (though never 'quite' achieving it). get real and grow up. But really, who cares. Basically 'people toss', big feckin deal. is the 'rampant rabbit' oriented part of the thread truly over ? If so why not start another thread maybe called 'sexuality points to prove' because this one is surely off topic now.
  17. Just drove from ED to Tower Bridge in 20 mins, faster than normal as roads pretty quiet, though I am not recommending anyone make journeys by car. As you head towards town roads are much better. Bermondsey is like a different country compared to ED right now.
  18. anybody know what the roads are like between East Dulwich and the river - are they (barring hills) broadly navigable ?
  19. On the bank of the Thames (tide out).
  20. yeah i managed to stream it on www and got good quality last 4 rounds, he did well eh ?!
  21. There's an interesting boxer called Helenius (surname) who was on the Froch undercard, I think he's Finnish, he doesn't look so 'cut' and 'in-shape' as a lot of the younger heavyweights like Haye etc and in fact just looks like yer average big lad, but he's got some power in his right hand and has KO'd a lot of opponents with a straight right to the torso, the punches don't look much but they end the contest convincingly. Too early to say (and I don't know enough !) but he's playing pretty regularly and doing pretty well, I think his defence needs plenty work, he is long and can keep people at bay to a point also (like I say he needs to work on that). Maybe one to watch...
  22. Yeah I cook. Love it. Mainly Indian and Thai. Probably not perfect but very satisfying and one of those things you know you'll do for years (and hopefully improve !!). Anyone coming for dinner normally doesn't complain if it's 'one of his curries', so something to try and maintain.
  23. Classic Froch quote on BBC: "I don't even feel like I've been in a fight and I've picked up the WBC world champion (belt) which is rightfully mine and wrongfully taken off me in the last fight." He'll never believe that he truly lost his title in his last fight against Kessler !!!
  24. Froch did well (I caught the last 4 rounds on t'internet, found a good sharp stream actually). However he very nearly transformed perfect boxing display into a loss by not being ready for Abraham's onslaught at start of the 12th. Based on this contest I would like to see Froch and Kessler again. I couldn't envisage Katsidis getting to Marquez, JuanMa is top drawer, I'm impressed he got a stoppage though ! Bika is tough, Calzaghe had trouble with him, I thought EastSideBoxing's comment that he'd hand Ward his first defeat was Ill-informed though.
  25. Agreed, in exactly the same way that Vitali did with Lennox.
