  1. Sounds like you're a bit miffed about your wealth DBS ? I'm not sure there's a vetting process or expectation that M&S customers are millionaires, if they did, most would be refused I'm sure ! You've mentioned 'million pound homes' (words to that effect) previously. Those owning a house worth a million or so, almost certainly didn't buy in cash, which implies a mortgage (probably a very large one !) which means unless the owners have other assets and cash to make up the balance they are NOT millionaires. But the way you go on about it, as if people have been gifted wealth but the freebies ran-out by time you got to the front of the queue for a hand-out, comes over as petulant. It's obvious that you're on a wind-up on several threads, and fun reading it is too, so I probably should take what you write with a pinch of salt - but a correction was due on the 'millionaire' assumption you seem to consistently and mistakenly make.
  2. The wood chip will obviously have small shadows from the bits in the wallpaper, so you won?t get the smooth continuous colour of a painted wall. But then, you may not anyway if you strip the wallpaper and there are chunks of plaster missing! -marie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thanks kidkruger that's great I noticed was one > piece coming up at the top and thought might be > weight of the paint.. 3. Without seeing the wallpaper with bits in, I'd guess it may be what's called "Woodchip". You can paint over that no problem. However, when I've painted old wallpaper (including wood chip) that's been on the wall for many years, the weight/moisture of the paint caused, in some places, the ends of wallpaper or joins between rolls to curl-up. Not a good look after spending a day painting a room, especially with expensive paint. There may be a way around that - pasting all joints and end of rolls with wallpaper paste and letting it dry first ? Personally I'd strip the wallpaper, fill any blemishes in the plaster (it probably won't be perfect), and use my preferred ideal colour on what may turn out to be a slightly 'rustic' finish, with no curling. At least the paper's off (it'll have to come off one day anyway). No reason to assume the whole room needs plastering. Perhaps try painting on the parts of the wall in worst condition as a test ?
  4. Yeah that's what I'm doing Sue (having to do cos I can't get a conversation with anyone !). Thanks.
  5. Of course he will, he's parked across their drive anyway.
  6. get some strong glue and paste a huge wad of wallpaper across the windscreen driver's side. then daub on it, "do not park here".
  7. YouTube has it all, for free.
  8. With waffle like that quote from the WHO, how could anything - any even slightly meaningful controls - ever be implemented ?! It basically says "well, sort of do something, as long as it doesn't put anyone out, sort of". How could any view be taken from this, or referencing it lead to anything useful ? I thought the point of referencing a quote was to show something authoritative or definitive.
  9. Same sign has appeared in Goose Green a couple of days ago padlocked to a post there, I think it's just a standard sign being used for open spaces. Although a poster on another thread seems to have the view that this sign can be ignored even we're in a pandemic - and should be able to have whatever fun we can.
  10. Thanks Sue, the website has nowt, no-one to call and ask (unless you pay premium rate, which I'm not prepared to do). This experience reinforces the purpose of CC and ULEZ, it's not there to help either, it's just draipsing you of cash.
  11. WoD, you just put 141 in front of the no. you dial. I think that makes you an 'unknown number / number not recognised'. So you may have someone hang-up on you if they can't see who's calling.
  12. Employer pays for device and network cost.
  13. All I need to tell you is allotment sheds and other things are nowadays perfectly safe when I'm around ! 14. Just scanned this whole thread, what's MM - have I missed where this is explained ? Apols if so. If not, pls elaborate so I can understand the actual OP !
  15. A bit like the opposite of burning-down allotment sheds. Some tinder and a match then boom you have a fire in seconds, but hours of satisfaction watching it burn (unless the fire brigade arrives).
  16. ha ha yes - we did exactly this. having heard about it as a myth, where no-one knew anyone who had dunnit. lameduck Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the other one was to find some dog crap wrapp it > in newspaper > set fire to it, in front of street door on path > knock on door, run etc > poor person runs out naturally they stamp on it in > slippers > and get crap all over their feet > I never done this but knew the boys who did > > Sorry going off thread > happy days
  17. I think it's a fair comment on social gatherings which are patently not distanced events and infection can very well occur. I saw a massive gathering at Dulwich Park last week, near the cricket bowling nets, I'd say 50-60 people at least, gazebo, cooked food being prepared, chairs and tables, certainly not distanced. You do fear for peoples' health.
  18. Interesting Sue thanks, I hope it doesn't come to having to do that, I was just using the Edgware corridor to go North. Ideally, roadworks affecting the boundaries of / entry to CC area would be posted on their website with assurance those following diversions will not be penalised. How did the process start for you ? Did you just receive the fine and then challenge it, or did you pay on the day then appeal it retrospectively ?
  19. jimlad - the 10s of thousands of dead people we?ve had in UK, is WITH restrictions in place. If we?d just ignored it and ?carried on? there would have be 100s of thousands of deaths through knock-on infections. It?d be too late to control as it went exponential.
  20. No, but good suggestion when the ?copters round here get too much to bear !
  21. is the entire hospital gonna be knocked down ? Shame - I thought it would be listed.
  22. I tried to go up Edgeware Road and it is closed so you have to head a block or two east towards Oxford Street then take a left north and follow diversion signs, which seem to bring you up a mile or so further north onto the Edgeware Road. All good. Until you think about congestion charge. As far as I?m aware the corridor of Edgeware Road is a charge-free route North still. But with the diversion, which was only slight, I wonder now if I?m going to be tapped for the charge. Can?t see anything on the website, anybody know? Ta KK
  23. It won't be reversed, why would they ? Not their problem.
