  1. Some interesting slogans there jimlad. ?Overreaction? is an interesting word to use - I know the UK Govt has hardly reacted (no actual lockdown even yet), so you can?t mean them. The people have still crammed beaches, held parties, etc. so you can?t mean them. So Who ?
  2. what an absolute shit show letting this population vote on something so damaging to the country.
  3. TE44, I don't think the prospect of a 2nd wave is being used as a threat by anyone. It's simply a possible outcome of increased infections, which could be contributed to by people not wearing masks. How anyone can think a barrier between one person and another (or two barriers, if they're both wearing masks) would not help prevent infections is beyond me. I think people don't take it seriously due to self-entitlement and having not known first-hand someone who died. What do the people who've contracted Covid19 say ?
  4. just stay at home / in UK already. after an event like this, let's 'get back to normal' slowly. perhaps we don't all need to fly everywhere all the time. remember how quiet things were ? some way towards that would be a nice change, no ?
  5. what a massive earner for the council. totally corrupt. cash cows are we.
  6. unclglen - let's keep this simple. no diversions. no distractions. Just one question = one answer. OK ? Question: Please advise "who came up with that piece of cr*p". It sounds like you know. I'm rubbish at guessing. 7. ha ha, like collecting refuse is complicated. And if in doubt, they just leave it there, full ?! Good excuse from the council though !
  8. It's cheap and lazy to meme-bomb a post. Limited thinking and a need to be antagonistic.
  9. I guess it depends where on the route you get on ? Where I live I see the P13, always seems to have 3-4 people on at any time. But again, depends where you live on the route.
  10. It's probably tissue paper, which most people have / access to when out and about.
  11. Buying local as a concept is great. Waiting in queues up and down lordship Lane with people pushing past and very little chance to keep a safe distance, not so great.
  12. I think it's important to assess how much confidence you have in the Govt and their advice. If you faithfully believe everything you are advised, all should be OK, right ? If you have doubts then make your own decisions and avoid places you think are unsafe. But no, IMO 2m should not be relaxed. I don't agree with increasing risk to health for business (and backbencher protesting) reasons !
  13. I think the poo thing is people taking advantage of the scarcity of wardens/park staff around (and perhaps reduced park-goer numbers). If you'd get caught short now, you would have done previously, most people don't want to use the park loos for number twos even when they're open. Everyone knows how to / is used to avoiding need for number two action when out at a park.
  14. woody vale in what format did the freeholder try to force you to sell your flat ? Or are you actually saying that may be the financial consequence of what is going on (i.e. no-one is trying to make you sell your flat) ? I'd get in touch with CAB, get legal advice and try opening a dialogue with landlord explaining circumstances, making sure you are CC'ing CAB and/legal body - so you have a record of trying to be reasonable. Meanwhile why not file a case at small claims court to get some reasonable input. What options have you advised the landlord so far, so he/she knows you're intent on paying when you can ?
  15. TheCat, you're gonna be getting another pasting now ! Admire your spirit, tho.
  16. Sounds like a hassle, but why not question the request to sit down and insist on commencing shopping ? Could be the staff thought she needed a rest, if the lady knew that she could have told them she's fine.
  17. ?165 is pure extortion. ?50 would be bad enough. It's meant to be a slap on the wrist isn't it, not plunge you into financial trouble.
  18. One would presume there'll have to be a reckoning between retail / commercial tenants and landlords in general. Many shops and businesses, if they can hold on long enough to reopen when finally allowed, won't be able to service outgoings on a reduced (socially distanced) footfall. If landlords aren't flexible on rents due, businesses may be forced to close. And you'd think, with what's happening lately, that landlords should be shit-scared of having an empty property. The flip-side, of course, is that many landlords have business mortgages on properties and, in turn, they also have a monthly outgoing to service - so some may be limited in how flexible they can be. But a moved-out business tenant ultimately provides the same outcome (no rent), unless contractually the landlord can hold the tenant over a barrel and take them to court. In which case I'd hope the courts recommend mediation and for both parties to find a middle way. Either way, it seems everyone's ultimately a loser in all this unfortunately. I think LL will look a bit sorry for itself pretty soon. What a dreadful time to be retail !!
  19. Actual, yeah Pamela. Circa 1985. Good spot.
  20. They should retrieve the statue, melt it down and cast a new statue of Paul Stephenson. That would be poetic justice in the re-use of the bronze from pro slavery to pro equal rights. That would take care of the plinth too, just reset the new statue on it.
  21. Yes, I don't think that excursion had zero effect on the sense of entitlement of the people. tiddles Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the blatant disregard of The govt > recommendations by a govt advisor killed off > people?s perceptions as to how much we needed to > socially distance. 22. Exactly, it's almost as if everyone thinks the virus is gone. Putney, Clapham, Brixton all today busier than a normal (old-world) Sunday. You make your bed and all that... Jules-and-Boo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am bewildered by this - people on one hand say > the government hasn't done enough to stop the > virus and on the other hand people are out and > about as if there is no virus at all.
  23. Khans is basically a free-for-all. They have some black and yellow sticky tape on the floor and the guys serving might be wearing gloves, but that's as far as it goes - after that you're on your own. Customers squeezing up behind you in the aisles, leaning over you from behind to get parsley when you're looking at the aubergines, if you're loading-up at the till someone behind you waiting may well ignore the sticky tape markers on floor and be stood inches behind you, that kind of stuff. The younger lads associated with the store or it's staff, are wandering around aimlessly with their heads in their phones oblivious to (or ignoring) customers' presence stuck behind them in aisles. If you're going there, manage your expectations with this; there's no space, no distance keeping, no enforcement. I go twice a week. gabys1st Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > to Khans twice a week. > .......What precautions are Kahns taking re social > distancing etc?
  24. Corruption and lies. Where's the pride in this ?
  25. Come on, man. If you're asked a straight question regarding figures, just find the figures. If decisions based on figures are impacting a community they need to be available and substantiated. If the figures can't be found ("off the top of your head", or otherwise), how can decisions be made based on them ? Or do the Council suddenly 'lose' the figures after forcing through their agenda ? I don't think so. This stuff just sounds perverse. If in doubt, please resort to basic concept of right and wrong. jamesmcash Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I do not know off the top of my head how many > households or individuals live on those streets > but I have acknowledged that most did not respond > to the survey. > > The survey specifically targeted the 3 (or 4) > streets where measures were being proposed but > others could comment too if they wanted. > > Yes, we looked at each street's responses > separately.
