  1. I didn't mention RSPCA previously when this thread was started because last year I (well, dog) found a small / baby squirrel on Goose Green at night which RSPCA put-down. It had fallen I think and was injured in some way or concussed, I believe. It's limbs all moved and he ate something form memory, but he had a bloody nose - perhaps form hitting ground. My first response was to call RSPCA and they arranged to collect the poor critter nest morning if I left squirrel in a box on top of water bins in front yard, not on a bin day. I left the squirrel in a box with a little food and water and it was collected by time I was home form work. All good. I called RSPCA that evening to see how squirrel was doing / what is prognosis on injuries, they said he'd been put down cos that is their policy. I was a bit gutted that I had basically brought this on the squirrel, even though I'd been trying to help. I wish I'd known about the options above that posters have advised. It may be that they all would euthanise a baby squirrel as policy like RSPCA did, but obviously now I'd not call RSPCA.
  2. "first world problem I know" ...not for the birds !!!
  3. excellent - hopefully little birdie will fare well.
  4. It's an unfortunate time with everything shut down at moment. Best I could advise is check online how to care for a baby bird, it may be opportune that you're home more than usual (assumption) and can keep the feathered friend alive until somewhere opens / you find somewhere to place it. good luck - keep us posted.
  5. Yeah complete bastards, eh ? What harm can a few more open shops and their queues do ? We?ve already proven that as an ED population we flout distancing rules, so let?s create more places to queue and fail to keep distance. What could possibly go wrong ?! Oh...
  6. I checked, the website at least says 'Closed'.
  7. Sounds good James. Do you now when the cemeteries (Nunhead) will re-open please ? (I will check their website and post here anything I can find).
  8. I think the bottom line with an ice cream shop is it's clearly not essential. One may be able to demonstrate that 'Government guidelines' don't explicitly ban ice cream shops, but come on, it's an obviously unnecessary commodity whatever anyone's guidelines say - IF you are focussed on staying safe and protecting other people too. If the Govt explicitly state tomorrow that all ice cream shops can be open 24/7, that doesn't make it correct to do so. Relying 100% on Govt to protect you (via their advice) is naive IMO, hospitals aren't covered with PPE yet, early guidance was pants, etc, basically these guys ain't organised whichever way you slice it. So why the lack of common sense when considering exposure to others outside a shop (which is what this is really about) ? When sentences contain stuff like the below, the point is being sadly missed I feel.. "what harm can it do.." "we all have the right to..." "Govt advice doesn't explicitly say..." "...risk appetite..." "..regulations not joyful enough.." "people deserve a treat.. etc.
  9. I?d agree that ice cream parlours, off-licences, coffee shops even are not essential and should not be causing groups of people to gather. Whether these items can be purchased in supermarkets / larger stores is a separate conversation probably, the focus should be on reducing crowds and queues with minimal shops open as possible.
  10. Probably foxes. They?re all out at night recently, quite openly, as the streets are relatively deserted. I?m not sure they?re getting so much to scavenge though, with less fast food and other junk being discarded on the streets now. Horrible sounds they make !
  11. Latifs minced lamb and pea keema is pretty decent too !
  12. it?s an old cemetery with most graves forgotten = Apart from the graves that aren't forgotten
  13. At nunhead the majority of users are not visiting graves, it?s an old cemetery with most graves forgotten. So how will that work.
  14. Correct. If you?re blas? about distancing you?re a moron. Very polite, given the impact of getting infected by these morons.
  15. That's what I was thinking, I had a large team of Indians working for me and they were all following this (Govt) recommended pathway, with some of them getting to the end of the process and getting citizenship (and we had celebrations in honour of it each time). So is the petition superfluous ? DuncanW Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Aren?t non-UK NHS staff on a fairly straight path > to citizenship anyway, if that?s what they want? > After five years, a visa holding immigrant is > eligible for ILR, and citizenship is possible one > year after that.
  16. Foxy I doubt that is Khan's primary objective !!
  17. Absolutely. But someone asked what the pavements were built for... binkylilyput Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What about people walking really, really fast? > Like speed walking?! > Were they built for a particular speed of moving > along by foot only?! > > Folk just need to be considerate, whatever speed > > KidKruger Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > "..where it is stipulated that a pavement has > been > > constructed for use at a particular speed or > > gait" > > Well when the pavements around here were built > it > > was for people to walk on, surely. > > And the roads were built for horse and carts.
  18. "..where it is stipulated that a pavement has been constructed for use at a particular speed or gait" Well when the pavements around here were built it was for people to walk on, surely. And the roads were built for horse and carts.
  19. That's interesting edcam, someone earlier above seemed to think it was MY problem alone seeing so many 'jogger misdemeanours'. Must be catching ! Truth is, it is happening all the time (walkers too, obvs..). I'm with you. No-one's gonna die cos they can't run 5miles in 30minutes every day of the fecking week, but people are gonna die from transmission. Just watch at Dulwich park gates, joggers will rarely show they are willing to (perish the thought) stop/give way so it's a game of dare and they just plough on through because, you guessed it, they are actually doing something while you are just walking.

Sue, rather than quarantine your jar of peanut butter, why not wash it like a dish in the kitchen sink. We are washing all shopping properly, then rinsing it and letting it dry on drainer (except fridge stuff which goes straight in there. We quarantine our post though, it stays on floor for a few days - we ain't washing that !!
  21. considering probably a lot more than 54% of shops are closed that's probably not a great statistic to take confidence from !!
  22. contactless card transactions ?
  23. Jesus - just demolish the poxy bridge !
  24. Wow, my Grandad fought on the Arakan, never heard it mentioned anywhere else, he got a bravery medal during a battle down there - nasty campaign. Thanks for the link, I'l donate ole Tom some cash.
