  1. Is that the new beer in Lidl's ? callmesean Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > thanks for your kind words & support a this > difficult time ... I am about to start Dostoevsky > don't cha know !
  2. All power to you callmesean !! It's nice to know the little people are taking some responsibility too !
  3. Looks like that's gonna be the case from this evening within Southwark.
  4. I doubt if it's just posh people who are stupid, to be fair. But perhaps those who think other people are posh need to believe that, so they've a crutch for their prejudice. I mean, I'm posh and stupid, but I'm sure there's chavs that are stupid too.
  5. Yeah but they won't follow guidelines so common sense has to be done for them, unfortunately impacting all of us.
  6. I'd be fearless in front of you as well, the keyboard is a distraction so don't flatter yourself. You were directly accusing the poster of being responsible, what he's doing is not illegal (as somebody else [another 'keyboard warrior' ?] pointed out). You may not like the taste of that, but you need to deal with that rather than insulting people who point it out. I wasn't insulting you, sunshine. But it seems you need to. Er, OK.
  7. Follow your own advice cnutfindle carlafindle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Go take a chill pill twot head
  8. It really is irresponsible, on both sides - the customers and the pub management. The fact the Govt isn't enforcing yet is irrelevant, on an individual level people should act responsibly and err on the side of caution. It feels like I'm missing something here !! (*looks over shoulder expecting to see Jeremy Beadle jump out, saying "ha ha we fooled you..."*).
  9. Dunno, go have look.
  10. We've been thinking of doing same with our dog. Thing is, dogs get stroked, are warm, and will harbour the virus on the surface just like a worktop or door handle. So we figured it's actually a risk either way - from dog owner to pensioner, or vice versa. Hence we're not doing it. I hope I'm mistaken.
  11. Listen Sarcy-Arse, I'm noting the one pub that I've seen open and serving. On a thread about 'pubs and restaurants to close'. I think it's out of order and I'm letting the sensible readers on this thread know. It wasn't meant for c n u t s like you.
  12. GE shut. Actress shut. Palmerston shut. Franklins shut. EDT around 40 people inside. I understand you Gotta run a business, but this is how the disease spreads - human to human.
  13. Govt?s no spine.
  14. Unfortunately, I didn't think just because we can see a location/event which may be higher risk in theory, it automatically means a free-for-all everywhere else. Minimising contact wherever possible will help save lives. Everywhere that is non-essential should close to support this.
  15. No-one's jumping on anything. There is no conspiracy against the man on the street. Some shops are just trying to play it as safe as possible, if they try to stay open, is all. gromit3:16 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > can't believe everyone is so happy to jump on the > cashless society. where the government can track > your every movement and know what your spending > your money on.
  16. Unfortunately there were many years where we had no butcher, grocer, fishmonger on LL. Not long after SainsburysDKH opened (against a lot of local protest) LL was pretty much decimated. So we're actually lucky with the timing, in a weird way. jonnywalker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Seems like smaller local shops are better than > supermarkets at present. 17. I got the impression that ianr WAS helping. Helping to highlight someone's accusation as misplaced, vindictive and ill-founded. The accusation of Mahoody seemed a bit knee-jerk premature, no ? What would also help is the free accuser answering ianr's questions
  18. It's this "don't bother me" mentality that will give the virus that little edge it needs to rip through the population. Imagine, a species so intelligent it can figure out what the disease is and how to avoid it, yet so stupid it ignores advice from scientists about preventing the spread. Another example (besides Brexit) why freedom of choice causes great harm to a population, if allowed in the wrong population !!
  19. I've paid at (i.e. Kanella) by card and not touched the device with my card. "Contactless". Admittedly there could be an accidental touch, but that's for the card holder to own isn't it ?
  20. This unfortunate resort is about transmission of a virus. It's not about what is convenient for people. Shops are trying to avoid hand-to-hand contact by utilising a long-embedded technology option already frequently used by most people for decades. 'Ridiculous' would be carrying on, transmitting disease, just cos it looks good. gromit3:16 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So how are the people who pay in cash gonna pay? > > It's getting ridiculous,
  21. Yeah Kanella is doing it. Makes sense.
  22. Then spare a thought for those pupils who've just been told they won't take their GCSEs or A'levels now. They don't know when they WILL take them. They don't know IF they will take them. If they are intending to move up to 6th form or FE college they don't know how they will be enrolled with no exam results, nor whether they can even move up any more.
  23. Of all age groups I?d have thought people in their 80s would be the best equipped to deal with no internet - having spent most of their lives pre-internet !
  24. Yeah it was called off-sales, the pub I was sent to had a little lobby with an off-sales counter in front of you and doors to the saloon and lounge bars to the left and right.
  25. To be fair, I wouldn?t expect any store to generally have the capacity to constantly and instantly restock shelves when they?re being emptied at these unseen extremes of demand.
