The EDF General Election Poll
Administrator replied to Administrator's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I should have locked the thread to disallow messages as it takes the focus away from the poll. Apologies and these messages will disappear shortly. -
This poll will close at 14:00 today, May 6th In a remarkably unofficial poll we thought it would be interesting to find out how how the users if the forum will vote on May 2010. The voting is totally anonymous and you do have the ability to revoke your vote should you change your mind. This poll will run until election day. The EDF election debates, questions asked by East Dulwich Forum users: Labour Party answers - Tessa Jowell Liberal Democrat answers - Jonathan Mitchell The other parties have not answered yet.

Please stay on topic

Those are the only parties confirmed in the Dulwich and West Norwood constituency, 'others' in this case allows for people outside the area who use the forum however we would like to keep this a local poll. You can see who the candidates are here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/constituency/b45.stm

Good idea, I am going to make it "I am not voting" so it can include those who can't vote as well as those who won't vote. And how about undecided? Conservative Green UKIP Labour Liberal Other Undecided I am not voting

I have set one up here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,451859,451859#msg-451859 to try out. Is this a clear and unambiguous question... Who will you vote for in the General Election? Conservative Green UKIP Labour Liberal Democrat

This should really be in the About the forum section but I will leave it here for now to help clarify the issue. This forum has no political affiliations. In regards to the posts you mention jenny1840, as people have said there's a difference between the councillor helping people: "East Dulwich councillor - can I help?" and candidates promoting themselves eg "Jonathan Mitchell - candidate for MP in East Dulwich" and "Labour candidates in East Dulwich". I am interested to know where you heard the rumours about out the forum being connected to a political party. ps ruffers, I agree with you about being over zealous.

Labour candidates in East Dulwich
Administrator replied to Oliver Kempton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is a bit of a tough call but I have decided to move this to the Drawing Room because it is the place for local election discussions. -
Please could you expand on "I wish to edit out parts of my control centre? ". What exactly are you trying to do?

Moving this to the Drawing Room -
In the The Drawing Room there is an announcement about General Election Debates on the forum. The Chair has contacted the various Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for their participation (and has already, in principle, obtained the participation of Tessa Jowell) and in doing so has opened up a great opportunity to discuss the issues that matter to you. Please note the Drawing Room is a place for discussion about serious issues and current affairs, and is not the place for asides and offtopification found in the Lounge. Some posts are liable to be removed if found in breach of the drawing Room rules So have a read of the announcement and then send in your questions. And please respect The Chair and their rules of The Drawing Room, it's their hard work that's making this possible.

It was because Swagger is BBW, and despite him being banned and blocking him numerous times he keeps coming back. His posts were also removed (sorry for any misunderstanding Keef, it can be done but only in one big swoop). Those of him who know him personally please ask him not to come back to the forum, he has been banned and the time spent cleaning up around him is very frustrating for the admin team. "Why not just let him back?", of course that is my preferred option but been tried before when he promised to behave and he continued to post material that caused offence so was banned, then he was let back again when he promised to behave and he continued to post material that caused offence then was banned, then he was let back again... (about 6 times in all).

Time to move this discussion to the Lounge

I would like to clarify that this forum has never won an award and the daily readership is about 3,000 daily.

Thank you for pointing that out sopiesofa, it has now been fixed.

Due to numerous complaints about the content, and the fact that the poster was drunk in charge of a keyboard and therefore it is assumed s/he was trying to wind people up, this post and its replies have been removed. Apologies to those who had contributed.

It does not matter if AOL is you ISP. Check to see if your cookies are enabled I do not know if it is a forum issue, you are the only users who has reported this so therefore I am trying to find out if it is a problem with your computer first. I hope that helps.
-
There was no intention to upset you with those messages. With the first one I explained what I meant by the photo embedding facility tending to get abused. I also explained how to turn off the images on your browser and gave you a link to instructions. No sarcasm there. The second one was slightly sarcastic because you are asking me what is wrong with your computer "I'm also getting random pages on internet explorer opening whilst I use AOL" and I am not your AOL technical support however I did provide you with a straight answer. Here is an article about enabling cookies in Internet Explorer. Do I want you to "personally piss off" off? No, and I find it quite obscure that you have read into my answers that you think I would like you to piss off. I have provided you with answers, and subsequent links to back up those answers in an effort to help you. As I have said to you before, sometimes doing someone a favour can be a right pain in the bum.
-
Turn your computer off and then on again, does the problem still happen? Which random pages of the internet are you seeing? Anything interesting? Anything naughty? Do you have a wheatgerm intolerance? Have you seen Avatar 3D recently? OK, I think might be a cookie setting in IE. Turn it to accept cookie sessions. And make sure your Internet Security software e.g. Norton is set to accept cookies. And get plenty of rest.
-
Good luck and you are always welcome back, as long as you stay on topic.
-
Photo embedding abuse means people posting exceptionally large photos or oversized photos that take up disk space. Sorry, I cannot cut down on people posting photos that you do not find funny however you can turn images off in your browser, to find out how look in the help section of your browser or search Google.

Sorry to hear that, your account is now closed.
