Well Mrs Clooney has resigned if you like high profile ones and the PM (according to the Daily Mail - no link) is falling into misery. "In her resignation letter, Mrs Clooney, who is married to Hollywood actor George Clooney, said she had accepted the job last year because of the UK's historic role in upholding the international legal order." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54210658 OK here's the mail link then - they seem to be turning against Boris (probably supporting Sunak/Gove https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8750253/Subdued-Boris-Johnson-worries-money-salary-shrunk-150k.html

Anyway SeenBeen if you hate him an election is coming (should have been done) and you can vote for Bailey. I suspect Khan will win :)

If he could raise taxes or even keep the taxes already coming from London there would be a lot more coming in. London has always subsidised the rest of the country. https://www.theweek.co.uk/checked-out/84933/does-london-really-subsidise-the-uk The argument for London having more independence isn't dependent on the Mayor of the moment - it's logical that London should have as much independence as Scotland. To be honest I don't think the Mayor has as much power as Ken Livingstone and the GLC did in the 80s.

London NYE fireworks display cancelled.

The one thing I'd like him to do is to fight for more powers and devolution/independence for London. I'm not sure his profile (other than as an opponent to Trump) is that high.

In reality if someone said that in front of me I'd just quietly take my business elsewhere which totally contrasts with my usual complaints for late delivery etc, when I loudly complain but do order again. I suppose late delivery can be changed you see. -

Dominic Raab got 9 minutes with Nancy Pelosi apparently and she gave him really short shift. https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/91620-2 They took the knee for longer https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2020/jun/08/george-floyd-tribute-democrats-take-a-knee-for-almost-9-minutes-video

'At the ABC town hall, the president also said the virus would ?go away?, with or without a vaccine. This would happen because of ?herd mentality?,' Plagues do go away (and come back) but usually after killing loads of people and nothing to do with mentality.

Apparently Brandon Lewis answered the wrong question It's so far unclear what question the NI secretary was answering. https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/minister-answered-wrong-question-over-breaking-law_uk_5f60ff76c5b6e27db133e67a?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAAL8wfW7IzEeiTKsgBezGVtuP48Me5oHe0enDfn6X35qPe_Yp42qlKCkR9xwaEibdBFLdEkDcJ0eqbw33MBJQuGEA50IGALpD5jwmtSAsB2kiYQetQOCkm3NO9-ON7wmgEbWcUpf6wr93DAM_i365jvabAuW4PL_2fcbRzC3Phkf

The Speaker wasn't happy - exercising his right as a constituency MP to complain about test and trace. Didn't he have a little go at Hancock last week too - even he can only take so much https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/18721840.coronavirus-sir-lindsay-hoyle-says-testing-issues-unacceptable/

Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Irish writer Fintan O'Toole wrote this (cut and > pasted as behind paywall). Strangely as a boy I remember being warned of English nationalism in a sort of "push them but don't push them enough to start that off" way. At that time the Welsh Independence movement consisted of green pen over English place names (Meibion Glyndwr came later)

It's strange how there could be basic life on Mars and Venus but no life appears to have advanced enough to want to contact us. Scientists are worried about this as they think there could be a universal law that kills civilisations before they get to that stage... ..or maybe they watch us, see what we are and say no thanks, don't talk to them.

The change this time was the government (shapps) said coloured parts of roads shared with cars aren't good enough. there has to be physical separation to encourage people to feel they can cycle . https://www.forbes.com/sites/carltonreid/2020/07/27/well-build-thousands-of-miles-of-protected-cycleways-pledges-boris-johnson/#26e0def26b2c

Curfew is coming I think maybe 10PM - 4AM. Just the word Curfew will wind up some.

The streets would look nice like that, but wasn't Peckham famous for plastic palm trees some years ago. I picked out a Cisco Shop too - so maybe SF. The tower will be the issue.

Peckham vision have been watching this for years. https://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Aylesham/Morrison_site Look at the top 3 rooftop bars in London (not been sorry) but the view from these should be included. https://www.timeout.com/london/bars-pubs/londons-best-rooftop-bars

Kay Burley just mentioned as a sort of aside that students are banned from having parties in student accommodation. or as the Sun puts it "Randy freshers will be stopped from bonking because of the coronavirus pandemic." How will they cope :)

Barnier and Frost are arguing it out on twitter now - can't be much official talks going on between them if they're having it out on twitter.

That crazy speech where she coughed, the letters fell off and she got a P45. Never seen anything like it. The look of horror in her face.
