Are people really that self interested though - I find it difficult (and rather sad) to believe. You don't become a Councillor to further your own self interest.

Johnnies eat out to help out possible scam

Being sympathetic, It's conceivable prices have risen due to the cost of implementing covid measures. That would be valid and not a fiddle. Most restaurants just give 50% of normal prices though, and you don't hear of issues. -

The questionable practice would be (and not sure if it's legal) 1 - register with scheme 2 - nominally double prices in august and charge customer usual price 3 - claim back for doubled prices from the government If you don't claim back and charge customers normal price you've just left the scheme - no issue except customer isn't happy IMHO If you lie on your claim to the government - fraud probably. -

if they're claiming it back from the government - report here https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/report-fraud-to-hmrc it's anonymous. If they've given up on the scheme it's their right (a lot have due to bad behaviour) -
While the government was obsessed with people from abroad (returning or visiting) bringing Covid to the UK in February - it was already here and transmitting among Londoners IMHO. They were already well behind what was happening.

The consultation results of Peckham Town Centre resulted in retaining and segregating a cycle lane. https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/peckham-town-centre/ I think the Cycle lobby is pretty good at getting it's vote out.

Any news on dentist situation in the area?
JohnL replied to Borderlands's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There was a time in the 90s (I think) when it was impossible to get a dentist, and people who weren't registered just put up with the pain. I can't believe those of us who didn't have a dentist at that time put up with the pain that came and went. Mind I must admit I didn't make a huge effort in my 20s as I had a real driller dentist as a child and ended up with a mouth full of fillings that wouldn't be done these days. -
Oh and Bori's transport advisor Mr Gilligan in the Guardian on what wins votes in London in 2018 "But it does now seem clear that opposing cycling improvements and pandering to motorists is not, and probably never will be, a vote-winner in London or any other major city." https://www.theguardian.com/environment/bike-blog/2018/jun/05/from-brentford-to-brooklyn-cycling-improvements-are-clear-votewinners

snowy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But you realise that this transport agenda was in > the election manifesto of both the conservative > and labour parties? It centers around Andrew Gilligan who has been one of Boris's closest advisors since he was Mayor of London "Andrew Paul Gilligan (born 22 November 1968) is a British policy adviser and journalist, currently transport adviser to the Prime Minister. " Boris and Gilligan wrote the forwards to the attached document in 2016 and they called what are now "LTN" by the name "Quietways" but it seems to be the same thing. "Quietways are supposed to be direct routes running on low-traffic back streets. They are meant to include filtering (bollards or other blockages) to reduce motor vehicle rat-running where necessary; full segregation wherever a route has to use a busy main road; and safe, direct crossings where the route has to cross a busy junction, road or gyratory. This is not always happening." https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/human_streets_0.pdf

Cummings Father in Law leaks that Boris may step down https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-step-down-claim-denial-a4532556.html Quote (from Cummings Sr) ?If you put a horse back to work when it?s injured, it will never recover,?. So its the knackers yard for Boris in six months then.

Mind some are saying the consultation process was that map you could enter comments in. Islington for instance. https://islingtonpeoplefriendlystreets.commonplace.is/

This government are getting rid of "red tape" like that - I'd double check it's not gone in one of the bills this year as boris doesn't do "consultation".

I'm with The Gardens and they have a letter on their homepage that seems to mean they are open (but prioritising some patients and following guidelines) http://www.thegardensdentalcentre.co.uk/ -
I think some kind of furlough extension will happen. Germany has extended for 2 years - but they always had a part time furlough system available when we had only 100% furlough or 100% work - they are looking like moving to a 4 day week for many workers for 2 years. With property we wait to see what will happen once the stamp duty holiday runs out next spring which will be right in the throes of any recession :(

They sent me a load of letters over the past 2 years telling me this. -
I think Johnson will go but no election except in the Tory party.

Anyway since you > refer to your cough as 'normal' I guess you > recognised it as a common-or-garden variety of > cough? It was February and it wasn't even supposed to be in the UK - any response to test requests at that time would have been - "there is no danger of covid in the UK unless you have been abroad recently". A lot of people have since said the same sort of thing happened in Dec-Feb - but no tests no proof.

Companies I looked at originally JLL, JTX, Sportstech - all with bikes less than 1000 and some less than 500. https://www.jllfitness.co.uk/ https://www.jtxfitness.com/ https://www.sports-tech.uk.com/ I wanted belt driven, magnetic resistance, studio type for cheap (as wasn't sure I'd keep it up). But if they make noises around the flywheel it becomes difficult to track down what it is and most support will say that's part of the bike (I want it to run completely silent when belt driven). Check on YouTube to see what videos there are for your choice - install, run and fix.

I've got a bog standard 300 quid one from XS-SPorts. Replaced the bearings and tidied up the flywheel and a bit more already this year but sticking to 30 minutes a day even if it squeaks a bit. Upgrade beginning to look possible for me too as it is working slowly. All repair issues for me center around the flywheel and as I repair things myself I feel like those guys in Gold Rush :) One piece of advice - make sure there is somewhere you can get spares if you're doing it yourself.

He wants the best deal possible for the EU - which means the weaker the UK the better the deal. He also may have other things in his brief - like deterring other countries from leaving the EU.
