That's trendy yuppies so maybe - but they mainly live in flats in small family groups (2 or 3).

I'm only 15 years away but I hope we'll have a system of electric cars that pick you up and drop you with no driver. Obviously you don't get to choose the route. https://www.wired.com/story/intersection-self-driving-cars-electric/ Am I hoping for a hoverboard here.

Piers Corbyn has been arrested and fined 10K after the London march denying Covid-19 exists "He was punished, according to the Health Protection Regulations, for holding a gathering of more than 30 people in an outdoor place, Scotland Yard said." https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/trafalgar-square-antilockdown-man-73-handed-10000-fine-a4536441.html

LOL A necessity that is much overlooked I agree :)

This is the plan - the moan is exactly what the response to the climate emergency is looking for and it's "nudge" theory I think. If they've gone to far they'll retract it a bit but it's exactly the effect they are looking for.

It's not just one delivery company, many of the parcel deliverers offer tracking and you can see them on the map delivering around my neighborhood followed by a "we missed you" even though you're sitting there waiting for them to ring. They seem to have issues with some blocks and houses. Last time I wrote to Customer Services and copied in the CEO of one I was so peeved - they wrote back but they never come up with a proper reason (possibly red route, possibly box was at the back of the truck, possibly they couldn't understand the door entry system - all excuses I've heard). The problem is if they miss you one day for their own reasons you're at the back of the queue next day if the truck is full as their only way of marking missed deliveries is "occupant wasn't in".

I went to pick up a few things from the office and then walked around Holborn - it was dead (except for Knights Templar spoons which seemed to have a few people in it). It was the boarded up shops that made it feel really down. We won't be going back until 2021 though - if ever as we're closing offices across Europe as a result of other changes. Our US colleagues have just been told 2021 too. Government has to be careful what it says as it's not a case of people refusing to go back they are being told to stay at home for now.

There are younger riders that aren't commuting mind just cycling for the hell of it (I'd compare them to the skateboarders at the Grove) - such as these - somehow doubt TFL counts them though. https://cyclingindustry.news/bikestormz-returns-in-june-calling-for-knives-down-bikes-up/

Sky News have somebody on to give advise to those upset by the idea they might lose their job due to working from home but redundancies happen whether you're in an office or at home IMHO. Got to say every time a business moves closer to being 100% cloud the less role for us legacy network guys - but there's still a market for us it seems :) You can't get upset about it and shake your fist at the cloud.

If this doesn't work however I think we might see the return of the fuel escalator (with a push to electric). and look who's back to block some roads (extinction rebellion are) https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/aug/28/extinction-rebellion-to-block-streets-in-london-manchester-and-cardiff

Government also saying they want us back in work (and the Telegraph making threats) - this doesn't look very joined up in the short term. Maybe they want chaos - I was always told if you want to introduce change you cause a little chaos with the current system first :)

What is beginning to annoy me is that this looks like a local Tory campaign and the Tories are introducing this policy nationally. Like Physician, heal thyself.

So who is staying home voluntarily and who is staying home as advised by their Employer. Who's office has shut until Christmas or even permanently. The Transport Secretary seems to think we all have a choice in this matter.

The government wants more bikes and pedestrians and less cars - it's a long term gain for short term pain.

I can't find any government (or other) page that says the rules - can they just opt in and out when they feel like it or not. Once they signed up were they bound by it until the end of August. I noticed on Sky "It is worth remembering that some large chains, such as Starbucks, are franchises, so not all branches may be taking part." so it's up to the local manager then ? -
