When is ED Leisure Centre reopening?

"In early July, council leader Peter John told the News: ?Our contractors are saying they need money immediately to keep going, but that is five million not in our budget for things like our leisure facilities." -
Spain should never have allowed tourists back this early without quarantine on their side. It's like a virus brewing pot. In Wave one we sent people to care homes without testing - now we're sending people to large holiday resorts without testing.
-
No - but they're planning on expanding to 2 days in 2021 https://thisisgala.co.uk/festival/gala-2021/
-
You suspect the increase in infections in Spain is due to British holidaymakers getting drunk.

So they're going to Spain - mingling when drunk then returning https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/14/video-of-drunken-brits-maskless-in-magaluf-appals-spaniards That says quarantine them to me.

Boris and his "cycling czar" andrew gilligan have an important speech today on giving over large amounts of space to cyclists. This is the master plan behind all the local authority schemes and will include a body called "active travel england".

It all depends on your individual body and immune system - you may or may not be immune. If you are really unlucky even a mild bout may have weakened your heart/kidneys and a second bout may complete the work. I'm always a late adopter in things with danger so I'm waiting to see what happens to other people before taking the risk - I am going out so infrequently a mask is no problem when I do. Mind my plan requires others to take a risk so I can know.

DF - Aren't they basically in a group that if one of them catches it they all can be assumed to (is it still 6 maximum or is it more). The danger is how likely someone outside the group is likely to catch it. If you're on your own can't you have your own reserved table ?

Actually - It does seem most leisure center staff are having furlough topped up by councils. Sunderland is taking a kicking for not doing so https://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/politics/council/row-over-furlough-payments-sunderland-leisure-staff-2545560 Here's also a plea from GLL to help top up pay https://www.gll.org/b2b/newsitems/gll-calls-on-councils-to-top-up-furlough-pay if you want to see the contractors point of view. It's a bit like buying IBM in the 1980s - most councils seem to do what the rest are doing I guess as it makes criticism easier to ride.

Those employees could not be furloughed on 80% (but as the baths were closed they couldn't work - maybe they should have been re-deployed. "The Government conveyed the following view to the LGA on 2 April:" "The Government has given local authorities ?1.6bn of additional funding to support them in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. This funding is un-ringfenced and is intended to help local authorities address any pressures they are facing in response the Covid-19 pandemic, across all service areas. Where employers receive public grant funding for staff costs, and that funding is continuing, we expect employers to use that money to continue to pay staff in the usual fashion ? and correspondingly not furlough them. This also applies to non-public sector employers who receive public grant funding for staff costs." https://www.local.gov.uk/lga-workforce-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme

Drone hovering outside residential window

If you catch it (aforesaid catapult) they are going to be way too embarrassed to ask for it back. It's dronenapped. -
They want another bailout https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/tfl-second-government-bailout-coronavirus-a4507591.html "TfL also warned they needed to be ?realistic? about what major future projects will be affordable over the next decade including the proposed DLR extension to Thamesmead, the Bakerloo extension and Crossrail 2." Rather unsurprisingly the Bakerloo line extension down Old Kent Road is now considered vulnerable.

Hurray - got a delivery from Sainsburys - first one in months as I switched to Iceland while they were fully booked.

The stabbing on Rye Lane was April I think. This altercation on CP Road was more recent. https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/man-charged-with-attempted-murder-and-firearm-offences-after-reports-of-a-fight-dulwich/ and this one in Kingswood Estate https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/teen-stabbed-to-death-in-dulwichs-kingswood-estate/

It's a UK wide inititive the same conversations are happening in Swansea, Cardiff, Newcastle etc. At the heart of it - you can perhaps blame Grant Shapps https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/07/18/closing-narrowing-roads-cycling-revolution-leads-campaigners/

My letter (snail) mail has petered out to very little as I've moved all financial stuff online as I had boxes of old letters that are just killing trees. Insurance and household bills mostly moved too. I still get the occasional banking letter and ones from council/property/work etc. My deliveries are always on time.

Random doorbell ringing? (Melbourne Grove area)

If it is children, We called it Bobby Knocking back in the 70s (if it was the whole street it was Bobby Knocking and Hedge Hopping) and the record was a 3 or 4 mile chase. Problem is we picked on the ones who reacted for a bit of fun. Many people don't answer doors or phones now unless you text first (a millennial thing)- so burglars may find younger people at home. -
Is it jailbroken (somehow I doubt it) Are you using some custom email server that could be causing this if it's email based (I use yahoo for instance - the same smtp/pop3 type settngs I use on my PC.) Is it linked to Alexa - just in case worth checking what commands she is running :)

Sir Kier Starmer sat on his hands (although apparently he didn't). Seriously - PMQ's is almost unwatchable in it's current format - it's like 3rd form debating club sometimes.

I don't think the Government, The Mayor, TFL and Southwark are going to go back on these schemes which TFL calls "StreetSpace" and are very pro walking/cycling. https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/streetspace-for-london Rye Lane and Dulwich Village are two of the ones that TFL gave money towards - this would need to be re-allocated to another road I guess if changed ? Both are named in the article below along with the amount of money. https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/18533902.southwark-gets-1-3m-covid-19-transport-funding-tfl/
