    Russia Report

Unbelievable - Former Russian Government member explains Russian policy on Sky News whilst defending Russia. UK is a junior partner of USA and US uses it to influence EU. Therefore removing UK from the EU allows the EU to be more independent.

"the job of maintaining the integrity of British democracy nominally fell to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport" Fair enough - sort of fits.

It's basically looking for the people who take an interest in the course - if you can be bothered to look at the papers on the walls you're probably swotting up on the course as well. You still should work alone in the main.

We're not functioning properly are we - It's like people are told to look the other way. "Committee members said they could not definitively conclude whether the Kremlin had or had not successfully interfered in the Brexit vote because no effort had been made to find out." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/21/russia-report-reveals-uk-government-failed-to-address-kremlin-interference-scottish-referendum-brexit

LOL and the Chinese. One of my few favorite parts of "space force" is where the huge Chinese craft snips the wings of the small US one and the Chinese crew laugh about it.

Do they need to enforce - can't they just go over and remind ?
  8. Late at night scooters seem to own Rye Lane at the moment. Not seen any real incidents though except some taxi's trying to make a taxi rank just outside the blocked off bit (only one night).

    Russia Report

The report into Russian Interference in UK politics is released today at 10:30 but leaks claim the report found there was NO interference in the Brexit referendum but there was in the Scottish Independence referendum. Nobody really believes that - it's worrying that they didn't seem to find equivalent levels of interference in both - Gives the impression that someone isn't very good at doing cover stories. Lets see.
  10. I still believe the modern flat earth hypothesis is a social experiment to see how people react to a contradictory/impossible statement when arguments that seem sensible to some are made for it. I don't believe Covid-19 is a social experiment.
  11. Yeah agree - you can't have maggots without rotting food or dead (animal) bodies.

  13. The Express Intern seems to be paraphrasing something she read in the Times "the Sunday Times has found." Could be this which seems to be a nice work of fiction (I can only read the setting the scene bit about terraced tea plantations, mutated micro-organisms and shrews scurrying underfoot and bats roosting above and the stench of something or other). The Sunday Times obviously went along too or they just wrote a story around some bare bone facts. I like the alliteration though which the Express isn't capable of. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/seven-year-covid-trail-revealed-l5vxt7jqp And if you notice in the pictures - they've given the coronavirus a face.

They haven't though - they've told them what they want to do and these closures are happening all over the country for 18 months at least. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reallocating-road-space-in-response-to-covid-19-statutory-guidance-for-local-authorities "Guidance for local authorities on managing their road networks in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak." 15. I see the issues here https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/matt-hancock-review-coronavirus-deaths-miscounted-a4501466.html Got to say I really missed the pub this week for work related reasons :)

I've shouted loudly at youngsters - unfortunately all you're doing is saying I'm a difficult victim and they'll go off to find a n easier victim - that's not solving the issue.
  17. 2 calls yesterday - one dead, one telling me I'd been signed up to Amazon Prime by mistake and should press 1 to cancel. Yeah - not that stupid.
  18. You have to treat the data without emotion and just pull out what is required - not what will help public opinion or make things look either worse or better. It's conceivable you might want to know (one day) if Covid19 caused some kind of senility that makes traffic accidents more likely for those who were infected - but that's not the data that you'd ask for to trace the infection. Someone running a database query needs to know exactly what is required.

That's just data sifting to me - you collect a lot of data then filter/sort it how you want. I don't know how the government or PHE do that - sounds suspiciously like a communication issue if the government has got the wrong data.
  20. Looks like Westminster council isn't giving business rate relief for empty offices mind - but as soon as the contract runs out they'll possibly move out if they are changing the way they do business. https://www.cityam.com/westminster-denies-firms-business-rates-relief-for-empty-offices-during-lockdown/ It's a hard one for the government as this was going to happen over the next 10 years or so and Covid means it's happened now within months. Maybe they can try giving relief/free office space to get people back as otherwise central London will become a ghost town.
  21. Immune systems do work and sometimes too well and that causes issues too - (the cytokine storm). The immune system is doing what immune systems are meant to do. Anyway many companies are closing down offices forever or until Christmas for business reasons and they've realised they can run on a work from home model and save money on office space. That's capitalism and the government can't do anything about it (other than force them to use office space). We all moved to Amazon and Microsoft (and others) data-centers now - that means you just need a internet connection to use many work IT systems (and maybe something like Anyconnect as an option). They've pushed the office network out to mainly include our own home internet connections. and Telecoms - it's now Teams or Skype.

    Peak guardian?

Look at the harassment Corbyn still gets from journalists - he wasn't my cup of tea but this is over the top.
  23. The thing is 1/3 of us will not go back to the office before Christmas and many of us (me included) will work from home for the time I'm in my present employment (which I'm lucky still to have many don't). A pedestrianised Rye Lane might be nicer if you're spending more time at home. The bit going past my flat is not blocked off so there's no direct change for me and night screamers make the most noise these days.
  24. I've seen a few people drive down and do U turns at the blocked off bit by the Nags Head. Wonder if they get fines or there's a short amnesty.
  25. People are moving out of London as we speak - why stay in the City if you don't work here and you can get a bigger house with the same money - many would have moved out as families get bigger anyway. There are those who like the City (I do) and new incomers (usually young)would normally replace those moving out - but if they start jobs and can WFH they'll take the job and stay near parents/friends - I know I would have in 2004.
