  1. There's rumours Boris is up for scrapping building 'red tape' ?In 2018 we built 2.25 homes per 1,000 people, Germany managed 3.6, the Netherlands 3.8, France 6.8. Time is money, and the newt-counting delays in our system are a massive drag on the productivity and the prosperity of this country.? https://inews.co.uk/news/analysis/boris-johnson-analysis-housing-crisis-newt-counting-red-tape-explained-459536 He has angered the Newt lovers though
  2. Mines Okay but has developed a habit of flapping when my boss rings.
  3. EDT is definitely open Saturday for you who are going out. https://eastdulwichtavern.com/

Actress Bishop Rye Victoria Florence are all Metropolitan Pub Company - although some in that group branched out to become the City Pub Company a while ago. I wish I didn't hang round pub websites so often :) https://www.metropolitanpubcompany.com/ https://www.citypubcompany.com/
  5. Florence (Herne Hill) also Metropolitan Pub Company is Monday too. Sensible IMHO. I notice some of these Metropolitan Pubs (The Rye, The Bishop) have their websites rolled back to very little.
  6. I hammer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone know what time the Bishop closes on > Sat night....will it be usual 2am? Victoria Inn is it's sister pub and isn't open until Monday - Bishop has nothing on it's website or facebook page about opening. I won't mention twitter :) Victoria Inn : "We are thrilled to announce that we will be reopening on Monday 6th July. We have put a number of steps in place to ensure the safety of our guests and teams. For the time being, we request our guests make a booking before visiting so that we can maintain safe distancing in the pub. We will be operating table service only and will not be able to accommodate standing drinkers at the bar."
  7. It's either a huge investment commensurate with Franklin Rhoosevelt (if you believe Boris) or it's not much in comparison to total spend and has been double announced (if you believe Kier). Ian Blackford said Scotland gets nothing. We are also losing EU investment in the very communities this is happening so I'm not sure how those to levels of investment compare.

  10. The twitter account of what used to be @mpsinthesky is now @NPASSouthEast Seem to be looking for unlicensed music events if this nice picture is anything to go by.
  11. Premier League has more or less stated what Kier Starmer said so I expect that will become the standard line. He seems to think things out so carefully and then Boris just calls him a flip flopping nincompoop (or something similar) at PMQs

  13. Of course I find the whole of the above stressful being a singleton. Note every drop down to book has the option of 2,3,4 no 1 present. So feel rather excluded to be honest.
  14. Hers an example from the Montpelier "To minimise the spread of COVID-19 we will be working on a bookings and table service only basis until further notice. On arrival, please wait patiently to be seated. DO NOT try to approach the bar or bar staff." http://www.themontpelier.net/covid-19-update/
  15. There can't be a surge - only those on the list can go in the rest will be stuck on the street. If you want to go to the pub saturday you should be registering with the pub now (I have no plans to go out this week) Any virus scare and those on the list go into lockdown for a few weeks.
  16. Just got reminded the Furlough rules change from tomorrow - so pubs or any other business registered for furlough can employ someone 3 days a week and use furlough 2 days a week (or any other combination of days).
  17. I worry a little about Sir Kier sitting on the fence. (he was distinguishing BLM (the movement) from BLM (the organisation) - is that what you have to do to get near power in the UK you see :(. ) However, the fact only right wing newspapers are reporting this when I search means it could well be newspaper froth. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/starmer-caught-in-black-lives-matter-storm/30/06/

There's noises in the country too - cows, birds, tractors and teenagers live in the country too (they just have their parties in a rural rather than urban setting)
  20. Living alone I like a bit of company sometimes - not always (so not looking for a partner) - but when I feel like it :) Pubs normally have a better location/space than my flat too. I've survived better than I'd have thought staying n though.
  21. We pay more in pubs for the atmosphere too. Nothing like finishing work and enjoying a pint at the bar

I understand if there's a limited number of tables then pubs will want to fill them with family/'bubble' groups. I do tend to be a solo visitor to pubs though - maybe I'll have to be a guest of Tim Martin :)
  23. By the way - as I guessed would happen- a quick look tells me there will be no provision for those who are alone. My lockdown continues for a month or so.
  24. Most of them opening on 4th - but if you want a taste of how it'll work look at the old nuns head rules https://www.theoldnunshead.co.uk/4th-july-opening
  25. Just about remember the Magdala - when it was painted yellow (maybe 10 years ago). I quite liked it.
