I'm with Jah - I bought the Times the other day without thinking and felt guilty. I love my sport and cricket particularly but just can't support the murdoch empire.

I miss Louisa's posts. What ED does have is a lot of mid to late 20's with parents and friends visiting who they can't accomodate in their one beds/flat shares. So while ED doesn't need a Savoy it could do with a bit more than it has.

Found - Alfa Romeo car key Landells Rd
jim_the_chin replied to Ko's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Another success for the EDF - this one's saved me hundreds of pounds and lots of stress before xmas as it's the only key I have. I would have had no clue where it had gone if these kind folk hadn't intervened. Thanks guys. -

kind halloween people on bawdale road
jim_the_chin replied to dimples's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Bawdale was rammed with kids, and with the aforementioned folk handing out sweets. It was a fun place to be. -
I've been quietly watching this post convinced that it could be the one thread that someone couldn't use to say something unpleasant or start an argument. Wrong again!

That planning link apperars to result in a refusal of plans on 22/9 of this year? -
I'm called James and I have an extraordinarily large lower facial protuberance* (*may contain lies)

I cycle past here and find it a bit dodgy at times with cars trying to squeeze through. I've noticed they have an emnpty strip of grass between the hockey pitches on the right as you head towards herne hill and the road. it wouldn't take much too cost and effort to build an access road that could hold around 4 or 5 coaches i reckon. zoom in under the 'A' on the map below. What with the fireworks and the Barclays bikes and the strangely familiar blue colour bike lanes why don't we just rebrand the whole place as BarclaysLondon?

I've had the same problem with baliffs, took a few plain speaking letters with advice on how to word them to get them off our trail. Anyway, does anyone know Vic Burns? It does if you stick it up your bum.

Bouncers Security. On Lordship Lane
jim_the_chin replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
On my very first evening out in lordship lane I saw a man being punched out of the doors of the foresters by a lady companion. rough geezers indeed. -

check out some of the comments on runners world http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/forummessages.asp?EN=56378&URN=6&UTN=157105&Events_Last=1&V=2&SP= people are quite negative about it but it's worth the experience of running on some of londons more inaccessible roads. It's very packed at the start though, it took me 45 minutes to start, so get there early.

Questionnaire about your life in Dulwich
jim_the_chin replied to sophie.ryden's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps it's a piece of qualitative ethnographic research looking at the reactions to a survey request in a middle class affluent population? Are we being observed? *dons tin foil hat* -
is 34K views a record? Should we put barry forward for a public service award of some kind?

For FOGG. Where was Goose Green? 1789
jim_the_chin replied to Chener Books's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That is interesting. The fox under hill, champion hill and green dale clearly marked out 200+ years ago. I like the bulge in the road around goose green; I wonder why that was given the lack of buildings around there? -
Different route: Upper east side to Soho Square Townley road, North Dulwich station, RedPost Hill, Herne Hill Rd, Loughborough Rd, Brixton Road, Kennington Road, Baylis Road onto Waterloo Road and over Waterloo bridge, up Bow street and round some back bits of St. Giles to Tottenham Ct station.

Buying a house in East Dulwich? expect sealed bids!
jim_the_chin replied to Pendragon's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Prices haven't dropped at all - we sold then came off the market as everything above us went ballistic. We viewed a house at ?550k and were told the owners would accept a much lower offer; it's just come back on the market a couple of months later at ?600k. The agents are kiling any movement in the market by over-pricing to get people on the books. You'll be paying top banana if you buy now with the strong possibility of the dead cat splat. -
Youths selling overpriced dishcloths door-to-door
jim_the_chin replied to kford's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I used to buy things from these people years ago but then wised up after I googled the name of the company on a pack of 10 quid cloths I was mugged for - it was a limited company and the only trace was a winding up order. -

Anyone know of anywhere showing this tomorrow morning? On my walk to work there's an Italian cafe on Dean Street that has been packed for days as they put the cricket on in the morning. Nowhere round here being so enterprising I assume?
