Pampers V Huggies for a newborn baby girl
Convex replied to EatLessBread's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For exploding poos, you can try a washable nappy cover over the disposable. We do this at night and it has caught the early morning explosions... They don't happen very often these days but enough to be grateful we have a cover on! -

I think it depends on your baby! I have found sainsburys nappies to be really good overnight. -
Hi, I don't have any experience of aspergers so this might not be relevant. But the barbers on Melbourne grove (gk barbers) the main guy was incredibly patient with my 20month old and might be worth a try? We go early on a Saturday and it was really quiet in there.

Hello I'm looking for recommendations for bedtime books. My son goes from racing around to ready for bed in about 10mins at the moment and his trigger is his bottle. I'm keen to introduce a book. It needs to be available as a board book or at least be relativelu sturdy as he is still quite rough with books. I think too it needs to have a bit of a story, he seems to be losing interest in 'that's not my...' Type books. He likes animals. I'd be really keen to hear what you read with your kids, especially very 'active' ones!

I would recommend you look at both. I was set on a childminder (and found a lovely one) but actually when I was offered a place at a nursery I suddenly just felt that was the right choice for us. So look at all the options, re nurseries it's never to early to get on the lists, and yes following up is essential.

flight to south africa with 18 month old

I have found that my bottles tend to leak, so if you do take you own I'd advise not pouring it into the bottles until ready to drink. You might have better bottles than me though! -
I liked the baby sense secret by Megan faure, there are routines you can follow I ended up just following the feeding times and then hoped the napping would follow. Mine is an average sleeper and until quite recently would only nap in the pram. He goes down fine in the cot now thanks to gradual retreat and habits learned at nursery! Thanks nursery! I found all the books had a pretty similar routine when al was said and done, so it's probably just a matter of finding a book with a tone that suits you!

Sling, Toys, His comfort toy, A grown up water sippy bottle was more successful than his own one, A new book, A toy to unwrap, Water colouring in books, Sticker books, iPad!!! With fave progs on, A light blanket for naps, Book the cot if you can, Plenty of nappies, And most of all, relax and concentrate on keeping your kid entertained and happy. If she cries, etc, if you get stressed that will make it worse. So although it sound awful, just don't worry a bout anyone around you. The best thing you can do is to be relaxed and calm to get your baby to be relaxed and calm. S in the long run its best for everyone! We have done loads of flights and despite being really well prepared the success of it varies. Sometimes we have had the best behaved baby and sometimes the worst possible. But we would do it again in a shot. -
Goose Green Bumps n Babes - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Convex replied to jcw101's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I helped with this for a couple of months, it's really not a lot of work. Would be ideal to split between 2 or 3 people eg from a mums group too! -
Manduca/Ergo carrier, easier on my back?!
Convex replied to Bluemum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Definitely try the sling library if you can manage to get there. -
Is upstairs at the EDt still open! It used to be quite a nicely decorated space but I haven't been there on years! We went to a wedding party like you describe, one nice thing they did was hang their wedding outfits in the wall, it looked lovely, and you could do a replica cake and bouquet to make it feel wedding-y.

Long haul holiday with formula fed baby - help
Convex replied to lulu's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Caribbean will be fine. If its the plane you are worried about take a sling, at least then you can walk the baby to sleep or at least give the people around you a break! Make sure you get a cot seat booked, it's a lot easier. -
Good point re durability. My pacapod is doing well in that score.

Long haul holiday with formula fed baby - help
Convex replied to lulu's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went long haul when my baby was 10months. Because we were going to Cambodia initially and weren't sure of the facilities, we took everything. Formula plus one of those little stacking pots that could hold measured out feeds. The bibi one is good as it takes up less space. Our usual bottles - didn't see the point of buying new. Milton cold water steriliser tabs and a container. Bottle brush and detergent. Mini travel kettle. (Probably wasn't necessary) A cool bag to hold the days feeding paraphernalia. And for the plane, we took ready made milk. We were asked to open 1 I think, I just poured the remainder into a bottle and made sure it stayed upright. I have also used powdered milk on the plane too and that's been fine, a bit more of a faff but they have boiling water for tea etc. If going to a hot country, take more than you think you need. We were away for 2 months and took 12 boxes, and only just had enough. What else... Take heaps of nappies for the flight. We had to buy nappies in Sydney airport and the tossers charged about a quid each!!! -
I like the pacapod pica (the backpack) and the oioi bags are pretty roomy. What I use most often is the pacapod 'pods' hanging separately to my oioi bag. Arguably the best thing for carrying lots of stuff is a comfortable rucksack with a well organised interior eg with a mini changing bag, cool bag for bottles, etc. But I do really love changing bags, so....

They definitely don't get as hot under a snooze shade as they do under a blanket. There are studies etc but I am going by personal experience!
-
I love the snooze shade and those women sound like they should have known better The worst advice always comes when you are feeling the most uncertain, doesn't it!

I agree with working towards dropping the morning nap, And we have had some success with gradual retreat (the book i was reading is the no cry sleep solution but there are good descriptions on the Internet) The main thing is that with him falling asleep in his cot instead of on me he can go ack to sleep on his own at night. That might not be relevant to you though. Sorry you are tired, it sucks!

Exciting news in stylist today that they have found a potential cure for grey hair. Buried in the article was a casual reference that it also cures vitiligo. Much more interesting to me, after 20 years of losing my pigment! My question is, how do I go about getting hold of the cream, finding out if its now approved from a safety point of view and whether I can have it prescribed? I could make an appt at the docs but I don't want to waste my time or theirs until I have some idea of whether its available. Any dermatologists out there who know about this?
