  1. Ergo is great, or beco or manduca are the same principle. Also a friend had a babyhawk for her heavy baby which was really comfy. I would def recommend a trip to the sling library (google south East London sling library) as sometimes the right sling can depend on the size of the parent as well as the baby. I'm also planning to sell my hop-tye which is a mei tai style carrier but you'd be best to try it first. Pm me if you want to try it (I also have an ergo and a baba sling which you can try on, not selling but it would give you and idea of fit if yu can't get to the sling library)
  2. Those are good points sun bob both very true!
  3. I def prefer the ones that screw into the wall. 1- no bar to trip over 2- when it's open you don't lose any width. We have a pressure fit gate in one place and it's a real pain to squeeze through when you are carrying stuff.
  4. Thanks everyone. The go just said they don't do it, perhaps I will go in and ask rather than over the phone. We want to vaccinate anyway for various reasons but with 2nd baby on the way and an upcoming family event happening soon I wanted to get it done quickly. I will look into the above re herd immunity though, I had thought a vaccination and booster gave the same immunity as having had it, if that's not the case then maybe not such a good idea.
  5. Have called a few places and they are out of stock. Any recent recommendations?
  6. Sorry should have been clearer - the toro has the same wheels as the fastfold. I would have thought it would be easier to get the fastfold over rough terrain if anything given its lighter. Anyway I think the micralite is a good choice!
  7. We have a micralite toro and love it. Had it on for sale but have decided to keep it for when we are single-buggy users again. Very good over patches of rough ground as you just tilt it and just use the back wheels if that makes sense. I find it easy to push one handed BUT agree the wider front wheels take some getting used to. And if you can get hold of an all terrain kit (now discontinued) you have a pram which can go on the beach, through mud, snow etc. There is one on eBay at the moment but they don't come up very often. I like the look of the twofold as well!
  8. We have left extra bags but I think it's at their discretion. There are recycling bins by sainsburys otherwise.
  9. Can you attach the second seat with the peanut carrycot? I'm curious if it would work.
  10. we don't have family nearby who can help. instead we have a list of local friends who have kindly let us know when they might be able to take our 2yo. we have most dates covered (we have a spreadsheet!) but obviously are hoping for an overnight home birth to avoid needing anyone ;-) the main thing is to have a few people as back up - then if one cant help as expected you have others you can call. and know what you plan to do in the event that no-one is available.
  11. Yep, interesting snacks, lots of nappies, and the sling is key. Be super polite and co-operative to the airline staff, they can make a big difference to your flight. A straw type sippy cup or anything which encourages them to suck (for ears) iPad / phone with videos, photos. At that age ours liked photos and videos of himself and other babies. And just do your best. We have done lots of long haul and luck plays a big part. Have fun!
  12. Thanks Emily, which one do you have?
  13. That's what the man in the shop advised! Secondary question, at what age did your kids progress from the baby set to just sat on the chair?
  14. I have a 2yo and 1 due shortly. Thinking about a booster to go on the dining chair rather than a second tripp trapp (we have a newborn set for the tripp trapp so really want to use this for the new baby) Any recommendations? Was thinking the stokke handy sitt but it looks quite small. I'd like something that will last until he us around 3 at least (he is a pretty average size)
  15. you can also take the baby in a black taxi in the pram.
  16. What double did you go for Strawbs?
  17. ah cheers yeknom i might go and have a little look on the weekend
  18. def not too late i won't see you there as I'm ill but definitely go along. the more the merrier... etc.
  19. hello, just starting to think about one of these for impending arrival. how have you got on with the hoodie cover? ergo do one especially for the ergo (which we have) but would be good to have any feedback from people who have covers?
  20. it was still horrific by about 620 when i was trying to get home. felt very over-crowded and out of control. i have to say the evening trains are a mess. every day there seems to be a delay, not to mention the scrum to get onto platform 13 (or off it for that matter) i would send feedback but i don't see it improving until the new platforms are all up and running.
  21. Agree with undiscovered re it being good for convincing the partner I did my course with Hollie and am doing my practice every night, birth not for a wee while yet It can't hurt. If you can afford the spend its worth it I think. If it improves your experience even a little then I think its worth it.
  22. For toddler portions, these: http://www.lakeland.co.uk/15648/Lakeland-Stack-a-Boxes-400ml
  23. I can do the 6, otherwise any night the following week except Tuesday. Are you getting PMs as well sw or is it just me so far? All you pregnant ladies - think of it as an experiment, at worst you meet some nice mums to be and at best you get a bit of extra birth prep in. I can do some baking too.
  24. I think Nigel slater is really good for basics. And nigella for baking.
