  1. Sorry you are upset. My stock response is 'it's fine, he is just tired/hungry/hot, we will be home soon' I've never had a very aggro experience like this though.
  2. What about that game where you each say one word with the aim of creating a story? Normally done in a group but could work with less people.
  3. I saw one at a baby show. They looked great but I wouldn't buy one for a toddler I don't think... I'd be looking ahead to the toddler bed years! If you are short on space though and don't mind a potentially short usage span though.... They looked well made.
  4. Thanks Strawbs and also the PMs I got. I think I will wait for my booked appt as then if it's due to the growth spurt that will hopefully be clear ie things might settle down! He is rolling and happy doing tummy time so I think I will increase that to strengthen those tummy muscles! Can't wait until he sits up.
  5. Hello reflux experts Son is 4months and has silent reflux with the odd proper vomity day. I've noticed an increase in reflux symptoms over the last few days, coupled with constant overnight feeding - yawn. So... He is on max 6 doses a day (2sachets per dose given by syringe as mostly bf) I give these all during the day, roughly between 8am-8pm. Is there a higher gaviscon dose, or do I need to see gp about getting something else prescribed? Or, given his age, could this be growth spurt / sleep progression related? I've booked a gp appt for in a few weeks time but not sure if I should push for a same day appt (I'm with DMC so not easy) Hoping for others experiences. I suppose I was expecting his reflux to get better as he got older, so this has taken me a bit by surprise!
  6. you can use a blanket to pad it out if you need to. if he still needs the head support a rolled up muslin inside the blanket will work. a bit of a faf and you need to keep checking it fir movement though. when our son outgrew the insert he was still too short, so we used the cushion on its own. he needed it until about 9 months!
  7. Tiny fold is babyzen yoyo or mountain buggy nano. Not cheap though! Depending on how small it has to be when folded loads of people swear by the babyjogger city mini. Also google babyjogger vue not available here yet but is in the states and looks interesting (parent dancing stroller like the njoy bubble)
  8. All good advice. Plus if you have a sling take it for carrying on/off the plane. Spare top for you (in case you get vomited on) and some plastic bags. Trunki do pillow/blanket sets which we found useful. A sippy/straw type bottle works for clearing ears eg the nuby one or camelback. An ear nurse recommended blowing balloons though I haven't tried that. Also I take almost nothing for myself that I used to take when child free. I don't bother with book, music etc as it's just more to carry and when the kids are asleep, I rest! I have 2 though. Also try and get a bassinet seat. If your kid us under the weight limit they might sleep in the bouncer type attachment, and if they won't you at least have the extra space to put stuff.
  9. If I had a big enough hallway I'd go for a side by side, with a single for when I had just one. Agree with SB above ie mountain buggy duet or the new narrow nipper, but the baby jogger city mini always looks nice and light, and I like that it has separate hoods. If I wasn't so set on air tyres then I'd also look at the newer icandys. The p&t promenade was good too but I couldn't get on with the hard tyres. I think there us no double that does everything, you just have to work out what's most important and go from there. Eg the promenade was good for me in that it had good basket, good full seats for both kids, but the hard tyres were a deal breaker. The dot has great tyres and is very nippy but the basket is tiny (and the newborn bit very tiny)
  10. Just that really... I would love a babyzen yoyo but the nano is much cheaper and is a similar concept....
  11. I'm relieved to hear that SB. There is hope for me yet!
  12. Agree with Strawbs on the city select. It's long which takes a bit of getting used to but you have 2 full seats plus a decent basket for your stuff. Though I am slowly starting to use my dot more I do wish I'd made different decisions when I was buying a double. Looks like my select is sold stc now so I have to accept I'm actually selling it! I really need a hobby that isn't prams. Sigh.
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions. Due to to high likelihood of messing it up I've bought calico (!!!!) but will feel braver next time I'm sure!
  14. I am doing a project and need a good amount of fabric But don't want to spend loads Where do you buy your fabric? Probably need a light upholstery fabric plus advice on needleweight! Thanks
  15. Aj farmers? Sainsburys?
  16. I think the clipis called a Houdini clip
  17. If you can face it, id really recommend john lewis... Peppermint in clapham have quite a few but the shop is very small so you can't really try them out.
  18. Worked once for me and then never again. So try the free options first !
  19. Thanks pickle, I tried gina ford with the first, and found the routines useful as a guide. Also other bits That I liked. But gave up on naps in cot at 6 months old, I couldn't bear the utter failure anymore. Since then he naps in his pram. Maybe I will have a look at a library copy and see if I might get on with it 2nd time around!
  20. Maybe I should try your swing Strawbs if you are still selling. Fuschia, was it difficult to transition them to settling without the swing? I think I'm going to try a sleep consultant. Things could be worse I know but I'm aware they could also be much better.
  21. Oh ha ha yes sorry I meant Melbourne Australia!
  22. there is a great cafe in melbourne which has a cafe with supervised soft play attached. you pay for x amount of minutes and send your kid off to play with a nanny watching over them. you can see them through a glass wall. it def aimed at families but its good for everyone as the kids are off in a separate area playing while the grownups are having their coffees or whatever.
