  1. Oh come on Sean everyone knows what a waste Southwark has been over the years, you talk as though this is something carefully thought out to ensure a way for everyone to be kept well informed, thats so far from the truth it isnt funny. This council has one of the biggest annual budgets across the whole country, we pay high council tax bills to have streets strewn with rubbish most of the time and yet they can justify WASTING large sums of cash by taking the fence down to monitor dog sh*t! What planet are you from? Louisa.
  2. BJL, most people in London still visit traditional markets without any issue, why is it so difficult for the people around here to contemplate a market that appeals to everyone and not just trendy urban sandle wearing hippies and yummy mummy's! Anyone would think I was the odd one out for having this opinion, at least i'm in the real world here! EARTH TO EAST DULWICH, ANYONE HOME? Louisa.
  3. What kind of market is this, i'm still confused. Thank god I can get a bus to Lewisham. Louisa.
  4. Southwark Council must be the most genuinely incompetent bunch of individuals across the whole council spectrum of England and Wales. WASTE WASTE WASTE! Louisa.
  5. I think the market would attract more people if it appealed to everyone and not just the elite few who like spending money on expensive cr*p. What is the deal with "ethnic stalls" and "antiques and collectables".. And I am sure ethnic refers to unique food types and not smelly meat/fish/veg stalls like the ones in Peckham. A proper market has street traders calling out with deals on offer, not loads of Chiswick day trippers selling off the silverware to unsuspecting yummies waiting to rinse hubby's amex plantinum card on a saturday morning! Louisa.
  6. Portobello RD market, it aint, but i'd like to see it succeed once again, but please can it be a little more appealing to everyone locally, and not just people who like buying nick naks. East Street market and Lewisham market may well seem dire to some people in this area, but they are brilliant at Christmas and sell high quality fruit and veg. Louisa.
  7. I would agree with the expansion of the market, but only if it includes some decent fruit and veg stalls, dodgy dvd outlet and somewhere selling cheap clothing. Otherwise whats the bloody point. Louisa.
  8. Cassius, if I were you I would not reignite this one, we've been down this road far too often and although I started it, I had good reason to. Middle class people love to encourage or dictate to others what is best, and let's face it, they usually mess it all up. Most working class people would not go to this sort of place, nor would the super rich, more than likely for different resons but above all it's about wanting to be better than what you perceive others to be. This sort of establishment will attract middle class clientele who enjoy paying a bit extra for something they think is better than others will be getting. It's sad but true, and then when they start to have a few brain cells kick in and realise that 'oh dear i'm being taken to the cleaners here', it's usually too late. Good luck to the guys at Blue Mountain, keep up the good work. Louisa.
  9. HAHA.. It's so funny when middle class people start to realise that they are being ripped off. Oh well, i'm sure one sale of a portion of scrambled eggs on toast would have taken place at some point during the day which would no doubt keep the place going for at least another week. Bloody rip off. Louisa.
  10. On Rye Lane you can drive where you like when you like and as long as you have a friend who work's for Southwark as a parking warden you will be fine! Drive on the pavement, do wheel spins in Morrisons car park, welcome to Peckham! Louisa.
  11. Spangles30, how dare you suggest that these overpriced small shops are pointless. If you want to live in ED you have to like it or lump it, remember, there are scary places like Bromley and Lewisham where you can actually buy more for less and have a greater variety so be thankful you are living in such a nice sophisticated area such as this. Louisa.
  12. What a load of b*llox, The Glades is a decent complimentary indoor shopping centre to the great high street in Bromley. It is a mixture of independent local stores and larger branded groups and it works wonderfully well. LL is just a small backstreet comparably where you cant buy everything you want in one go unless you fancy being taken to the cleaners like half of the so called chattering classes seem to enjoy since moving in and turning the place into pointless gift shop hell. Funny thing is if we had a peak into half of the wardrobes of the snobs on here who dislike Bromley so much because it isnt "edgy inner south london turned richmond on thames", we would no doubt find items from various branded stores which sit alongside the indies throughout our great city. Snobbery really is pointless. Louisa.
  13. Yeah Mark :X Louisa.
  14. God no, unless i'm wanting to waste my hard earned cash on some "organic" produce or some overpriced tat in a waste of time and space gift shop, or for that matter buying some drab clothing from White Stuff. Great place to shop, not! Bromley has a huge shopping complex with variety and choice, ED has boutiques and indos aimed at snobs (apart from a few unmentioned shops I remain loyal to). Jah, there is is a world outside of ED, it's known as the real world, it's a shame a few more people dont visit it now and then. Louisa.
  15. I've been busted. Louisa.
  16. Mwah. Louisa.
  17. Well Peckham is outside the EU, it has it's own rule book with regards to driving and pretty much everything, hence why I go to Bromley town centre for my bits and bobs. Louisa.
  18. Foolish pedestrians sum up ED, I fail to stop to allow people off the road when they have blindly walked out and yes I do often get the two fingers shown to me, but it takes two to tango. Louisa.
  19. What with the reduction in spending from the yummy brigade i'm suprised Shoefayre or Shoe Zone are not opening up, bloody Davina shoes, well well well, maybe the expected de-gentrification of ED isnt going to be as drastic as I expected, areas like Chiswick and Putney are now more affordable too, perhaps the dimwits have failed to cotton on at this early stage. Louisa.
  20. Easily Bob yes, it closed in 1991/2 I think, but i may stand corrected on that one. The guys who owned it opened up a steakhouse in islington. Louisa.
  21. Full of snobs and arty farty bohemium sorts, hence why everyones saying how great it is. tut tut. Louisa.
  22. I remember back in the early 1990's when this place was still an Italian owned steakhouse known as "Never on a Sunday". Fabulous food always fresh and very traditional, to think it was replaced with this craphole has angered me ever since so I certainly wont be feeling the loss if it disappears! Louisa.
  23. Nandois is probably the most annoying of the "i'm not an evil fast food chain cos I setup in trendy areas" type eateries in the country. The food is awful at every one I have ever been to, and the service is terrible. I'd rather eat KFC (yuck) because at least you can see what they are at face value. ED does not need one of these places thanks very much ta! Louisa.
  24. If you want to save your nose then I suggest you use Denmark Hill for Victoria/London Bridge line. Louisa.
  25. Poundland is what we need, that will get the yummies spitting out their lattes in Nero on finding out. Now i'm doing the dreamin' *Bob*! Louisa.
