  1. Yes Moos, that's exactly what I was getting at - as ever you put it so much more eloquently than I ever could...

I cried at his programme last night. I love Jamie Oliver.
  4. tautly argued Jah. edcam, I do agree with you in regards to this pope, but I also think there's a broader anti-Catholic sentiment that bubbles under in this country and I wonder about the history (see what Sean said).

Only the hottest guy in ED. Don't worry though W**f, you're a very close second.

  10. Will you be singing "ah-ha this-a-way, ah-ha that-a-way, ah-ha this-a-way, my-oh-my"?
  11. What Keef said, and Mockney. I don't know if there's anything to this, but I wonder how much the level of vitriol aimed at the Catholic church has to do with our history as a protestant country: one in the eye to the pope back then, and one in the eye to the pope now. And Jah, as for your sister, I can see there's a great appeal to Catholicism, to the idea of confession and redemption - doesn't do it for me, but I can see there's potentially a lot of comfort to be found there.

Kull probably had panty liners with wings, which kind of negates the pleasure of the fur.

Fur knickers = feel sensational, but you've got to know the cycle of your lady juices as they're a bugger to wash

  18. Rubsley is right - The Royle Family IS brilliant, very funny and also has that same warmth and affection. Miranda on the other hand - oh my god, awful. Awful awful awful.

I have contacted one of Wigan's finest pie makers and arranged a par-baked delivery of a case of their very best meat and taters to reside in my freezer and be consumed according to my whims. I rather fancy they'd be super with a side of Ganapati's beetroot pickle.

DjKQ - I posted this this morning and then deleted it. Possibly chicken, possibly a bit tired of character assassination from certain quarters for things that I've posted that others have agreed with, only not "publicly" for fear of getting into a "thing". So. I don't think for a second that this was your intent, but I was online last night and saw the 4 separate threads that responded to the original one develop. There were: banned posts, thesbians, lesbianism in ED and pink cycle lanes. Whatever your original intent, had I been someone who had been offended by the original postings, I would have taken this onslaught as bullying. Not 1, but 4 threads taking the piss out of me for being offended by talk of barbers and crew cuts and whatever else. I don't think for a second that you meant to mock anyone, but I'm genuinely surprised that you can't see that creating a thread where you invite deleted posters to reprise their deleted posts might cause offence to those who complained about those exact same posts in the first place. The fact that it was a little gaggle of the same people on all 4 threads may well have led people to believe that you guys rule the roost and their opinions ultimately counted for nothing. As an entirely impartial (non-gay, non-complaining) outsider, that's how it seemed to me. edcam makes a very good point - this is, ultimately, an internet forum. The number of people who have met and befriended each other is dwarfed by the number who haven't. Last night's lesbian party was an exclusive love-in that effectively stuck two fingers up (four times) at people who'd had the audacity to be offended.
  21. Ah, I see. I had thought you meant the knife-wielding maniac was cuckoo, but you meant me, right? In my defence, expat's right - you don't use my German steel for a hacksaw. And he was a redtop journalist. And he loved Rupert Murdoch. And he looked really fucking smug like the control freak he was when I came back from the bathroom and he'd arranged the flowers (in the wrong vase - they looked shocking!) and lined up my kitchen like a scene from Sleeping With the Enemy. And he was wearing a really really bad shirt.
  22. I love Brendan la la la I love Brendan la la la Not solely for the purpose of canape-prep...
  23. Loz, you don't understand. They were sunflowers and he'd cut the stems with my 8" chefs knife and lined them up on the chopping board like a row of corpses, with the knife alongside. Definite shades of Patrick Bateman.
  24. Heh, I didn't think it was. But I'm not sure I would have waited to ascertain the identity of my gentleman caller taking this unorthodox method of gaining entry to my bedroom at 3 in the morning before offing him with a sturdy piece of kitchen hardware. Think it through man...!
  25. Hmm, cat burgling murdering rapist is more the route I'm taking...
