I used to get flashed at an awful lot more than I do these days. Either I'm a whole lot less hot, or I'm hanging out in the wrong places. *NB, obviously I know that predatory masturbators aren't that funny, but really, you didn't used to be able to go to the park when I was a teenager without one of the known local onanists indulging themselves in the bushes. Seems less prevalent these days (or maybe it's just that I can neck my two litres of Woodpecker in the comfort of my own living room).

And I would be really interested to know how many people complaining about fundraising would be happy to pay significantly higher taxes to avoid the need for such charities in the first place. Or have been up in arms when NICE says it can't fund every expensive medicine going.

Jane, thanks for that. I appreciate you must be pretty frustrated by now. I've steered away from commenting on this thread as there's nothing really I can add, except to say that I am firmly in the camp that says this approach is fine, I have no problem with it whatsoever, and in fact, as I'm not a recent patient of Kings, and therefore haven't received a letter, I shall contact them directly to find out more about their fundraising and see how I might be able to contribute..

A friend is struggling with finding a mentor for their next year's training. I don't know the ins and outs, but his college isn't being that helpful, so I wondered if anyone had any experience of finding a great mentor in the same scenario (routes to try), or miracle of miracles, happens to be an art / design teacher up for some mentoring?

Shark infested suggests a level of aggression that just wasn't there. Clown-infested circus tent perhaps. In the lounge, people ARE willing to debate. But some will always take the piss: it's why the Drawing Room was born. Read the thread about the Drawing Room and you will see that some people really want debate in the lounge (and I'm one of them). Ignore the comedy and the dross if you're in earnest, and engage with those who genuinely engage with you. Or give it up, and have a laugh instead (easier to do when something doesn't matter to you so much). It's easy to huff (and I have) but it's more fun to partake.

I once had to climb out of a pub bathroom window because the 3 guys I was seeing all turned up at the same time. However these days I'm inclined to think that if you like the person you're with, treat them with respect. And if you don't like them enough to be with them, then stop being a pussy, end it, and get with whoever's been so tempting that you couldn't resist. Why wasn't what pointed out AJM? I'm not quite sure I follow. I thought the points about poison and clubbing were spurious, but in honesty, was too lazy to bother looking it up. So I asked the question of the OP and it wasn't answered. Sean also asked a question of the OP that went unanswered. If a serious discussion is called for, then people should be prepared to enter into that discussion.
