  1. Wrote to them yesterday after it was mentioned on the other thread! Looking forward to doing this!
  2. If Peckham did mother and baby screenings I'd be tempted to go - keep thinking about the ones at he Ritzy, but, buses over to Brixton seem so unreliable (with a 10wk old you don't really want to head out much earlier than you need to!) and there isn't a car park nearby. Also put off by their recent offerings being really arty (am jealous a friend in Wimbledon got to go to Harry Potter as a mother and baby session!). Doesn't seem to be any mother and baby screenings at Surrey Quays either (which does have a huge car park!).
  3. Hubbie put together a "chilled" playlist for us to play when E first arrived, only to find me in tears to this: Could it be I'm falling in love as it seemed to describe exactly how I felt (infact couldn't listen to it all the way through as started to well up again!!). Even got set off in the middle of E's bath the other night by Eternal Flame coming on the radio :-$
  4. Metanium is the best nappy cream - we use it on babies in hospital who have bad antibiotic related nappy rash - use v v sparingly though - just dab onto the worst areas and then vaseline/olive oil on the rest of the bum, hope both the kids feel better soon x
  5. Ooo thank you JB!
  6. Ooo Moo's sounds like an offer I can't refuse! :))
  7. Oo fab - will head over there once their open again!
  8. They all pop up around the 1st December IIRC Bit sad this year, as normally I go and get the tree, get it up into our 1st floor flat and decorate it giving hubbie a surprise when he gets home from work, however, this year that's not going to be possible due to lil 'un :( Unless.... anyone know of a (reliable) one that delivers?? Got tree from opp the harvester last year and was v impressed.
  9. Hi Guys, Wanting to pic the collective EDF Mum's brains! Bought a glider chair in anticipation for lil 'uns arrival which hasn't made it out of the front room (but is used for chilling her out, as well as chilling us out!). Small problem though, the arms are too high for me to easily feed her while sitting in it. So am thinking of getting another chair for up in her room so that I can start to do night feeds up there instead of coming all the way downstairs/waking hubbie up and in anticipation of her moving into her own room soon. Sooo, any recommendations?? Cheers in advance!
  10. hmm... well, just had a good feed from that side - only difference being she'd woken up on her own... this am I'd woken her as was 5hrs since she'd fed... as said she's been changing her sleep/awake patterns and think it's confusing the pair of us!!
  11. Only used the shield as she'd cried so much trying to latch on, no probs with supply as after feeding expressed 90ml (at same time, don't think she was affected by me being so full - she didn't get near enough latched.) Tried rugby hold and didn't change her fussing :( She's been fussy on t'other side with this feed ( typing on phone one handed!) but giving her 1oz expressed seems to have improve her feeding. She had a spurt few wks back, but think somethings afoot as she's suddenly awake much longer and seems to be getting more active everyday!
  12. Wondering if the breastfeeding genius's can help me (again) 9wk old E seems to have taken a sudden dislike to one side - she fed fine from there yesterday lunchtime, but both last night and this am she's cried ++ and not latched on (has this am whith a nipple shield) She latched onto the other side without problem in-between times. I have noticed that feeding has always been bit more painful on that side and the nipple feels v sensitive after feeding, but no cracking/discharge. Had wondered if it could be thrush but have no probs with other side or noticeable signs in E's mouth (I would guess if it was thrush I'd have it on both sides/E's feeding would be affected with every feed). Bit happier she latched on with the shield, but thought we'd finally got shot of them (was first time using one in 4 days :( ). So chaps, any ideas?! x
  13. Early learning Centre Keef!
  14. Eurax cream is meant to be v good - longer acting than camomile lotion.
  15. I'd suggest iCandy cherry for anyone on 1st floor/lots of stairs. The frame is really light and reasonably easy to collapse down and carry up & downstairs.
  16. Well done on being so close to your target!! I'm not familiar with ww, but, with you being so close why don't you stick with what you've been doing?!
  17. I've found the advice in the baby whisperer book really good - think we've got "secrets of the baby whisperer" and have dipped into it since lil un was born 8wks ago. Is no where near as strict as Gina Ford - seems to give you the tools to set your own routine/what suits your baby. It suggests watching/noting down what the baby does for a day or so as there is likely to be a pattern to what they do regarding eating/sleeping. It also talks about how to settle - think there's four S's - can only remember 2 = swaddling, Shhs/patting (both in arms and once laying down until settled/sleeping). Having a routine/consistency when settling them for naps helps them know what's happening as well. If you google "baby whisperer forums" there is lots of advice on there.
  18. up to 8 puffs is fine too - but would say if consistently needing to use 8 puffs (esp after a further 24/36hrs) have a low threshold for getting her reviewed again x
  19. Glad all going so well with twosling (love his nickname too :)) as a (still) intermittant shield user, can I recommend the Medela ones - really good fit, nice case, and come with instructions of how to put on (sounds daft but v helpful).
  20. Sounds like the Dr was able to clarify/reassure which is good. Typical that the change of scene lead to her perking up... is amazing how often it happens (amount of babies who had given their parents merry hell at home and would then beam at me in triage!). Don't be afraid to use the blue inhaler whenever she is wheezy/chesty - am sure they've advised 4 puffs up to 4 times a day for next couple of days. Fingers crossed she's over the hump of it and going to improve - just in time for you to concentrate on No 4!!
  21. Hey Fuschia, (managed to find this thread between lil un's feeds!) If I was there I'd have no probs with you bring her back in (esp if within a wk of being admitted they'd prob give paeds a shout straight off). Bit confused how she's got a viral infection but been given antibiotics (the treatment for a bacterial infection) but that's by the by. If she completed the course of them and still has symptoms then that would suggest it is a viral infection. Annoyingly viral infections can hang around a little while, and even if she was showing signs of improving, the night would be rough. Think the fact she's coughing all the time and off food (?drinking ok/more than normal) are reason enough to get her checked. In A&E as well as having her prev notes to hand, they'll also be able to do full obs/check O2 level on her. Can understand why you'd want to wait until a "quiet" time, if asked directly I'd say don't "plan" ED attendances head straight in, but suppose hanging on will also give you an extra night to observe/see if there's improvement. Any deterioration/increased concern and head straight in there. Best of luck with No 4 as well! x
  22. Belle - I might have seen you on one of you A&E experiences if it was Kings!! littleEDfamily - not DMC was Forest Hill Rd... worst bit was I felt I had to let the receptionist know incase I had missed a bit/if they had a housekeeper handy - am sure she was nearly laughing (rare for a GP receptionist I know!). Me and Mr Buggie were visiting my Godfather a few yrs back, and the same w/e he was looking after his granddaughters (then aged 5 and 3yrs) The 3yr went to the loo - having refused an offer of help from the 5yr old (wanted to do it herself). She returned and casually handed her knickers to Mr Buggie! Luckily she was happy enough for me to put them back on her!
  23. was changing E in the toilet at the GP this am, had her legs up to pop the clean nappy underneath her and she took this as chance to aim and fire.... Poo hit the wall, the changing mat, was all over the towel I'd put on the changing mat and over the nappy in such a way it wasn't going to be wearable! The only saving grace was that she was side onto me and I'd pulled her clothes up so well that neither of us got hit! Thank cripes I keep alcorub in the change bag. Had been upset at the long wait for baby clinic but this sure helped the time fly by!
  24. Thought I'd cracked it Sunday morning - bubs slept thru the extra hour and I woke her at 330 GMT for her regular feed, but then this morning she woke at 2.15 and 6.15 instead of 3.30 and 7.00 - she wasn't bothered at all, but I was!!
  25. I was meant to have sweeps from 38/39 wks (also due to gestational diabetes) but my cervix was always too closed/posterior to do it. Last attempt was when I was 39+3/40, I then went into labour the next evening and my baby was born less than 48hrs later. Thus, don't be disheartened if they say they can't do a sweep when attempted as things can change quickly!! :))
