Feel good guilty pleasure anyway. Got a bit confused there - think you mean Brendan Fraser don't you?? Think it was "Blast From The Past" - Brendan Burns would have made it a very different film!! Think most of my favourites have been mentioned, for the Drew Barrymore fans can I recommend "Music and Lyrics" (bit of Hugh Grant thrown in for good measure!)
  2. As BN5 has already mentioned, tissue type has a big part to play - could well be that no one else (as poorly as him - remember he'd gone dry for 6 mths+ beforehand) matched the donor liver... should the donor liver have gone to waste?? The proportion of organs donated is low mainly because of the poor number of people making it clear before the time comes that they'd like to donate, but also because it's limited situations that organs can be taken (due to medical history/how the donor has died etc). This is why the work done at Kings regarding living liver donations (the liver can regenerate itself) is so exciting and a very positive step forward.
  3. ....was just thinking the same thing CC!!
  4. ...really is rather a good week for birthdays!! Hope you've had a good one Moos! xx
  5. I'd suggest heading through the Rotherithe tunnel, straight across the junction with the A13, then round the back of mile end park, onto St Pauls Way and out onto the A120 (the road that comes out of the Blackwall Tunnel but about 1 mile further up). Cuts out alot of the queues and never seems too busy. Would give it an hour to get out to Stanstead but then I'm always cautious with journey times!!
  6. Oooo good idea RoiseH! Annaj - don't worry, he was still here when I got in so v sweet card and my pressie!! Thank you all for my birthday wishes!
  7. Thank you guys! - just had a weirdly ok night shift - off to sleep soon and posh dinner tonight!!
  8. Mr Buggie says he saw you outside Franklins but had his Hisar takeaway in hand and brain elsewhere so was prob mildly confused/struck dumb by you all!! Do want to try and come along at somepoint but always seems to clash with work/other stuff!
  9. Happy Birthday Keef and Mrs Bob - fab week to have a birthday!!
  10. Ahhh.... I'd forgotten Paula Danziger - "The Pistachio Prescription" and "Remember me to Harold Square" were favourites of mine - had to get them ordered in one at a time in my village library!
  11. If she liked Jacqueline Wilson might be worth her hunting out Judy Blume - read her books back in the 80's before JW ruled!!
  12. Might it be worth doing a trip to the library - esp if you're browsing and getting books out she might have a look round and find something she fancies/interests her. I'd be wary of setting a number of books for her to read - know when I was that age (or even now) if told I should read 4 books it would really put me off - feels a bit more of an order and makes reading sound like a chore than fun. Maybe even suggest she tries and researches something she likes - reading doesn't have to be from books to be informative - maybe if there are newspapers at home she'd read those (maybe I'm strange but I copied my parents in reading the paper from as soon as I could read!) or even surfing the web/reading blogs - my blog reading is skewed towards emergency services (www.neenaw.co.uk is a favourite) but these can be informative and start the fire of interest in a subject.
  13. We were in Tangerine Fields so didn't have to pitch the tent ourselves but still had few damp bits come friday morning - blame ourselves for thurs night - had left wellies and mac's in the tent as thought rain wasn't coming until the friday!! MrBen - missed your friends band which is shame having followed your link as they sound great :'( is so much going on there that short of cloning myself was always going to miss a few bits!
  14. ... am sure I overheard few people talking about East Dulwich while there this w/e. While the headline acts didn't do for me what Sigor Ros did last year (got the hairs on the back of my neck up before anyone asks!) can't really complain about the depth and breadth of things to see and do, everything from seeing great new music (Paloma Faith), old favourites (Robin Ince's Book Club) and learning to Charleston with Keith Allen (well, he was a few people infront of me!). Soooo... anyone else?!
  15. woo-hoo - can make it!! Haven't been in so long!
  16. Think you read my post wrong - wasn't saying in it that you were difficult - "Rather than trying to be difficult, am sure their actually ensuring that any potential problems are recognised and acted upon at the earliest stage - the best interests of you and your son" was instead trying to explain that their not deliberately being difficult towards you
  17. Guessing it's similar worry to the centile charts in red books - a drop or increase of 2 or more centile lines can be indicative of possible problems - obviously there is some margin of error within this, but there there has to be a point at which extra checks are done and this is it. Am sure if you'd ask they would explain what this meant With Kings being a leading hospital in prenatal care/surgery the sonographers are probably even more aware than at maybe a district general where the problems hese tests safeguard against wouldn't be seen as often. Rather than trying to be difficult, am sure their actually ensuring that any potential problems are recognised and acted upon at the earliest stage - the best interests of you and your son are at the crux of what their doing. Having seen your opinions on Kings previously am sure you'd be quick enough to comment if they'd missed something, so appreciate their cautiousness!!
  18. have had mine just over a week and yes, it's love! Had to go over to chelsea yesterday so used the National Rail app (which seems to be priced at ?4.99 but sure didn't pay th at much!) to get my trains, and then the map to guide me to the address... sighhhh, how did I cope before. Record on flight control so far is 80 on the 2 helipad one - sure you can all shame me with your scores!! Any tips on good app's to get? Got shazam and urbanspoon sorted!
  19. Rockets Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The helicopter was down in Ruskin Park yesterday > afternoon - was it responding to a call or just > resting in the sun? It lands in Ruskin Park when taking patients into the ED as there isn't a Helipad within the hospital. An ambulance meets them in the park and brings them down to the ED. This is probably why after the Barry Rd accident the patient was taken by road. Isn't a problem when the parks shut as the helicoptor isn't allowed to fly at night - they have a v fast car instead.
  20. Using the crossing at Goodrich Rd/Barry Rd it's evident barely any drivers take notice of the speed limit - often seeming pretty narked to have to slow/stop to let someone cross. Don't know what would work but agree some actions needed.
  21. Being as close as we are to Kings, was probably as quick to take them by road than up by the 'copter.
