Overcrowding at Memsaab Lordship Lane
Nigello replied to Friernlocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That?s not good news. What did they say when you complained? Did you stay? What have you done to notify the authorities? Perhaps they had your number or email already from the booking? -
Donkey Alley -Bins not collected again
Nigello replied to Mabaker's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Contact Councillor Maggie Browning for Donkey Alley. She?s usually responsive. My blue bin wasn?t taken, even after a call to them. -

When is ED Leisure Centre reopening?
Nigello replied to newbestfriend's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
20th August You need the app to book a slot. There?ll be fast and slower swimmer options. Each session lasts fifty minutes. You are encouraged to arrive swimming-ready and changing areas and showers will be open for after your swim, according to an employee I talked to. -
How come milkpersons think it?s ok to stop-start in diesel vehicles in the dead of night? If yours does that, consider ditching him in solidarity with people who like to sleep (ie. everyone).

Yes ? I saw the patch of scorched earth and partly-burnt logs. I picked up the rubbish ? dry cider, small bottle of vodka ? la corner shop and vin de table so not a very classy crowd (as you?d expect from fire starters).

Has anyone had continued success with bird boxes? If so, which kind of box, which kind of bird, where is the box situated, etc? Sparrows roost in gaps between my and my neighbour's house (because the houses are actually detached but look terraced) but nothing else. When to put up a box?

Teh council has put a sign up saying there should be no open flames, fires, BBQs, etc, padlocked to the bench (which is meant to commemorate the life of a woman who died but is now seen my some as a canvas for their squiggles and dawbs). I would have preferred a sign asking people to not flytip and take their litter home but I suppose it's a start....

Hello there, I am really well, thanks in part to the fact I have taken every vaccine that has ever been offered to me, as have my friends and family of all shapes, age and sizes from several different continents. I hope you stay as healthy!

What's wrong with a U-turn, especially if it's in your favour? Those who whine when a party they do not vote for reviews its stance to be in line with their views waste oxygen. I didn't vote for this government but I am glad when it changes policy to something I think is more responsible -- but not to the point of crowing. Much better to accept it and move on.

If the council were to allow or turn an official blind eye to BBQs and larger-than-allowed gatherings it would then rob it of any authority as regards any of its other responsibilithways, social care, education. Large gatherings - marches, parties, weddings, religious services - are by very dint of their size more likely to spread a virus than if they didn't take place. Imagine the chagrin and regret of someone who infected their mother or grandfather because they couldn't refuse the lure of a glass of warm lager and undercooked burger!

Thanks It may well have been a European hornet ? maybe a queen. Its buzz was loud. Are they seen often? On a side note, there are a fair few spiders around. It seems earlier than last year for them.
-
I had a 2? wasp in my house yesterday. It stayed near the glass of a door to outside and I flicked it out. Could it have been a queen looking for somewhere to bed down after summer (or doing something else)? I don?t think it was a hornet because it was yellow/black, not orange or amber.

Fake news? I get that governments do lie or dissemble on occasions but I don?t see how come ours or Spain?s would make up or suppress the number of people diagnosed with Covid. It?s a pandemic that will chop and change in spite of our attempts to contain it so expect more figures that may then look ?dodgy? a while later and don?t put it down to conspiracy.

People complained at dithering and at announcing measures three days or more before implementing them and they complain when swift action is taken. Layering one?s political views on top don?t make the situation any easier to deal with.

Dulwich library - is it open? If not, when will it?!
Nigello replied to localyocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes ? I?m wondering whether the charges and fines will now be imposed because we have the option of returning to other branches. -
I think Victoria will be seen as too similar to Jane Garvey. Both are of a similar age and both have that 5Live style which is expected, given both worked there. I?d go for Liz Green or another regional host but I think the BBC will think it?s best to go young and/or ethnic minority. It?s a good programme but tilts too far to affluent/academic in its content these days. You and Yours is more entertaining, useful, friendly and eye-opening and has a largely female presentation team.

Dulwich and Camberwell pools are not opening. Neither is the Forest Hill pool. All three websites have a blurb saying they?re getting ready to reopen. Poor show ? they?ve had four months to prepare for a reopening. It?s difficult, I know, but other pools in other towns are managing it.

Masks are ok, they do help somewhat, I think. What also helps is keeping one?s distance, not like the good parents of Goodrich who meet and chat at very close quarters of a morning, mask- and worry-free! Don?t hang around in shops, go early or late to avoid any crush and just think that everyone around you could be symptom-free but still infective.

I just saw several overflowing bins and piles of litter in PRP, the bit nearer to Colyton. I picked up and threw away some items from Colyton Road but left the park rubbish as I was with a friend who was walking a dog. It?s just not going to disappear as a problem. I?ll ask the council to double up the bins and pick up bits when alone. Not much else one can do.

Tessa Jowell centre - blood tests
Nigello replied to mancity68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I?m pleased if it?s fixed. I?m also surprised because I?ve noticed plenty of abandoned projects and unfixed problems across a range of council or government-run bodies. Have a look at your local street/station/hospital/park/bus stop and report anything that?s not working. You?ve got a keen eye for detail and righting wrongs, after all! -
Tessa Jowell centre - blood tests
Nigello replied to mancity68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
> The screens that call the ticket numbers don't > work, so you have to listen carefully for your > ticket to be called. That was a quick breakdown of equipment! How disappointing but not unexpected. There?s nobody who?ll take control so it?ll take ages to fix. The same is seen at Tube stations where neon tubes lighting up the name of the station fail and are not replaced, because the staff don?t feel it?s any of their responsibility.
