  1. I?ve run out of feed. I usually get it from the pound shop near Lidl but I?ve not been out. If anyone has any seed, etc they could let me have then please let me know by PM. Thanks
  2. Valid points Best to raise it with the staff there and then and ask for your comments to be fed back on to you by the manager if not present.

    Radio shows

Radio 6Music is good but a little "in" at times. R2 has good presenters but not all are to everyone's taste. There's variety and diversity on World Service - not just news but science, arts, religion etc. I never listen to commercial as I don't feel the need but some foreign stations, like RTE are good in parts. Depends on what you like but there is lots of choice on the airwaves, not just BBC/Capital/etc.
  4. Be aware that light, even from a big window, decreases considerably even a short way away from the pane. You can get light meters but if not, ask advice about which plants will work best where you want to put them. Good on you for doing this - plants, inside or out, are great! https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18001539373247353/?hl=en - Instagram plant enthusiast on light https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17890206787219981/?hl=en
  5. I get lots of sparrows, tree and house, and they use the feeders by leaning in from a twig or branch. Long-tailed tits are new and the only ones to use the coconut shells. I live at the Dunstan's end of Goodrich.
  6. Hmm, maybe it is. I get foxes nearby and they screech but it is more high-pitched.
  7. - a variety of tawny owl calls for reference
  8. Maybe I heard one of them a while back and the other the other day but it seemed not very owlish. Anyway, glad there is at least one owl near Dawson's Hill.
  9. Apart from owls, is there a nocturnal bird that makes hooting noises? I have heard twit-twoo sounds from around Dunstan's Rd/Daswon's Hill as have others (and written about it on here) but this was less stereotypically owlish! Any ideas? (PS Jays and long-tailed tits relative newcomers in my garden.)
  10. The under floor insulation would be expensive. A much cheaper (and probably less effective) way would be to use a special kind of bendable, thick tape that wedges into the gaps. https://www.google.com/search?q=gaps+in+floorboard+filler&rlz=1C1GCEV_en&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjflZC8mIPnAhUxoXEKHXWXBnsQ_AUoAXoECA4QAw&biw=1188&bih=872#spd=11147586910290357765
  11. Is the rule to leave them out on the pavement? Easier for the binmen but not for some pedestrians. Glad the council's not applying the letter of the law. Mulch galore!
  12. It's the start of the end for the private vehicle, at least petrol/diesel-powered ones. In thirty years' time complaining about this will be seen as the same as people who scoffed at those who thought it reasonable to smoke in restaurants/cinemas/buses, etc. Things change. You can always walk or take a bus there, or pay! I do hope hte money goes to improving the park and/or other greener measures.
  13. Electric vehicles are good, but they still cause congestion. Simply replacing all our diesel/petrol/hybrid vehicles with them won't solved the pain of traffic jams and high car-pedstrian/cyclist/biker ratio. So, if you must drive, just have one or join a car club.
  14. Re the leaves, they leave (!) a deep stain on the new pavements. Perhaps the stains will fade, or perhaps the paving stones were not pre-tested for porousness/suitability...?
  15. It is a better idea than having lamp posts that double as charging points but with no dedicated -vehicle bay next to them, which means that anyone can park, thus depriving the e-thirsty leccy car of a power source. (There are a few of these raound SE22.)
  16. There are about six or seven dedicated parking spots/charging points. Is it for the teachers, perhaps, or is there a large number of e-vehicles in that part of SE22?
  17. Not ED, but close enough: The pond in the wildlife garden in PR Park has been refilled and looks like a proper pond. The very dense plant growth has been cut right back. Hopefully it will mean more frogs, toads, newts, water insects, etc.
  18. Which are the best bonfires/firework displays on this weekend? Is Blackheath generally good? I have to weigh up the bonfire and display with the transport and crowds. (Who wants to wait for hours to get out of a venue?) Any ideas welcome! Ta
