  1. Surely any rubbish in a council-owned bin would be sorted and recycled at the plant, or does it all go to landfill? In the short term, putting two bins side by side could help.
  2. I have been three times when I have walked in and no other cubicle has been being used. The other time I was seen immediately but one other cubicle (of three in all, I think) was used. Perhaps I was lucky in my choice of time. Busy or not, the staff are good at what they do and are cheery and this is important.
  3. The blood test facility is very good. The staff are really quick and friendly (no waiting times at all when I have been the last three or four times) and it is genuinely painless. The area itself is a bit shabby but it's clean. It is much preferable to going to King's but given that it is usually empty I wonder whether it will last.
  4. It happens a lot, on buses too, often in conjunction with playing music or having open-mic conversations. Say anything and you will get verbiage or violence so I reckon we just have to put up with it. Welcome to London!
  5. NHSE22 with some kind of smaller superimposed S on the S of SE22
  6. I don't mind them being there and agree it adds to a sense of community but it is not community-minded to leave them. I do think it is just polite and fair to remove them once the event is over.
  7. If you must advertise your school fete/yard sale/street party etc. with laminated signs attached to lampposts and railings, please take them down afterwards. It's just being polite and not adding to unwanted street furniture. Southwark Council puts plenty up (those yellow ones) and never removes them so no need to add to the tattiness.
  8. Slick
  9. The 12 is going to get 130-capacity extra-long double deckers. (See other post.)
  10. https://cbwmagazine.com/new-high-capacity-hybrid-bus-hits-london-roads/ This is an article on the type of bus I mentioned, saying it will be used on the 12 route. It is not spam!
  11. I saw one of those six-wheeled double deckers that are often used as hop-on, hop-off tourist buses on Lordship Lane early on Friday evening with a 12 at the back. Perhaps the reduced frequency will mean bigger buses?
  12. Muffins78, let us know how you get on. Perhaps you will be successful because of where you are.
  13. I am please there are a few sightings, but there don't seem to be that many. (Of course, there could be lots of sightings by people who don't use EDF.) I suppose that people living nearer to "wild' areas (Dawson's Hill; P Rye/Park; Dulwich Park; Dulwich Wood) may be more likely to see them but I would love to find out that the large areas of connected gardens formed by the rectangles of terraced houses are home to them.
  14. The programme item was about a man who persuaded his neighbours to cut small hedgehog-sized holes in their fences. Where once there was one hedgehog there are now 25! If you know there is one near you, why not cut a hole in your fence and ask the neighbour to do so as well, and ask that neighbour to ask his neighbour ,etc..?
  15. Springwatch just had a piece on some 24 connected gardens somewhere in England with small holes in fences/hedges between them to facilitate the movement of hedgehogs. I've never seen one around here. Anyone got one in his/her garden? If so, whereabouts?
  16. I'd suggest using the line about being inspired by the other NHS colleagues and also have thoughts prepared on what your experience out of work taught you about yourself, your life and work and people. Take a second or two to answer and look at both/all the people on the panel. You sound keen and eager so all the best!
  17. Bus travel is cheap and effective but people make it hard for themselves and others by not moving upstairs or by congregating around the doors. If you're one of them, just consider moving down or up. The journey will be quicker because the driver won't have to keep stopping to ask people to move down or upstairs. I agree, though, that the fare freeze has had consequences and some people will be inconvenienced.
  18. once a point is installed near your home it should be possible to access it relatively frequently. This is wishful thinking. People with cars will park anywhere and won't be thinking of leaving a space for a potential e-vehicle. It's greenwashing and does more harm than good because it gives the impression that thought isn't being put into what should be our priority - containing global heating. Have the courage of your convictions (where you = someone in authority) and fence off spaces for e-vehicles next to charging lampposts. It makes sense to do so and no sense not to do so.
  19. Edbloke, I agree with you. I have no skin the game, not having any vehicle, and I pointed this out the other week. I fear it is greenwashing and very frustrating for those who want/need to charge up their car/van. It makes no sense to have electric chargers on lampposts and then not reserve the space near them for electric vehicles.
  20. Where was this?
  21. Where is the telephone exchange?
  22. The signs say you have to put a lead on your dog/s if you are asked by an officer. If you do not then you can be given a fine, so it is not automatic.
