I?ve seen more families on bike trips - which is A Good Thing - and all have been on the road. Selfish, young adults cycling alone are the ones riding on footpaths even in quiet streets. It?s bad form at the best of times and especially now. Pavements are for pedestrians and those in wheelchairs; the welcome pivot towards greener transport for everyone means accommodating the rights of all, including pedestrians/wheelchair users, all of whom are mindful of not getting closer than six feet to others. (I get that very occasionally a cyclist may choose to - not ?have to? - avoid bad traffic by going off road but even then, dismounting is best for all.)

The mayoralty should be given more powers or disbanded. Regardless of who?s wearing the robes of office (Khan and Johnson are/were just not very good) it resembles a glorified tourist office with a hotchpotch of ?powers? that don?t amount to the impression it likes to give.

I?ve had them pop by for a day or so then never return. I don?t have a niger feeder so if I got one perhaps they?d come back. If not, do other birds eat from this special feeder?

I think any undertaking that attracts people to the same place won?t get the green light right now. Takeaway and bulk selling for freezing may be tried to ramp up business for some food producers. It?s hard so good luck to all.

It?s worth remembering that some drivers are needed - deliveries, plumbers, builders, some NHS nurses on rounds, etc. Most journeys in our area are unnecessary as they could be done on foot or cycle but most of us will think ?well, just this once? and the gridlock and pollution and noise will continue. (I have no motor vehicle and haven?t for twenty years. I manage well, others won?t find it as easy with no car, I know.)

Exdulwicher said - there are stories of neighbours driving 1/4 mile to the school gates and back again or 1/2 mile into the village for a loaf of bread. That's not going to be feasible in future! Never underestimate the solipsism of the human being. Practically everyone has made a short car trip and probably all will do it again ?just this once?, so I don?t see this changing. (I?ve not driven in twenty years but I know how easy it is to kid yourself that your little trip doesn?t matter ?in the grand scheme of things?.) Schools have to get tough on this because very few individuals will decide not to make a school run. Only when a body like the school or the council really makes it hard will things change.

If they?re no longer needed, charities may be needing them (the hostel at the Dulwich library end of Barry Road, maybe) or a local sport team, etc.

Very sad and glad that there are donations galore. Will the funeral parlour keep the excess and use it to help others in similar situations?

If someone can borrow rather than buy then do so. There is enough waste already - she is trying to get rid of it so borrowing a picker seems entirely fitting. Good on you - I pick up cans and bottles often and can say I have seen fewer of them because there has not been the footfall and the schools have been shut. Hopefully the mobile middens that pass as buses will be a lot cleaner these days.

Yesterday and the day before I saw a red dragonfly in my front garden on the same bush. I did not expect to see it because I always associated them with areas with water, like a pond or river. It was about 3 inches long and coral red. It may have been a damselfly. Nice to have!

There?s news today That local councils will be able to fast track the closure of roads near schools at certain times of the day to avoid congestion and reduce pollution. Good on her. She was concerned, did something about it, and found out she?d been wrong. 2230 is too late to knock but otherwise I?m glad she?s community spirited. Hello there, Can anyone help? I highlighted a name to email then the webpage went dim. When I go to any other app it?s fine. When I search it?s fine but it?s only when I use any page from Safari it?s really dim. Any page accessed via the browser is dim. I have turned up the brightness full whack but that means the general brightness is overwhelming! Could anyone suggest how to get the original levels of brightness back? Thanks, N
