  1. there are items of furniture I bought in there that I still use now after 2 moves
  2. if you've lived in the area for 20 years you might remember the indoor market on Zenoria st - where Gail's is now? Different times and different demographics since then but I always got the impression that struggled at the time But as I say, it was 20 years ago so there might be an appetite now - best of luck
  3. Precisely DR it’s entirely understandable to conclude one is so disillusioned by Labour for Tories, it must be time for someone else That is an entirely reasonable position But if the next step is to then transfer your vote to a party full of charlatans, snake oil salespeople and racists? Then you stop being reasonable and start being thick and/or racist i understood why Tories took power in 2010. I feared it was an error but I wasn’t castigating people who voted for them tories (then, not now) and Labour are hamstrung not by civil service or EU but by a weird media and a weird voting system in an age of social media. The answers don’t seem to be coming from them yet but voting reform will only damage the country internationally and internally the Tories may yet regain power but are currently led by a madwoman, with a madman positioning himself to take over. Will take years for them to sort themselves out labour are making errors all over the shop but are at least in the ballpark of sane governanc. In no way should this give them a free pass but in 2025 there genuinely isn’t anyone better (and current polling for reform is meaningless - in any general election be it 4 years or 4 months their lack of accountability and standards will become all too clear)
  4. say it ain’t so “ 12 winning councillors under scrutiny with three accused of retweeting Britain First comments” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/may/10/reform-uk-councillors-face-allegations-sharing-far-right-islamophobic-content?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  5. He’s talking about me mal but me being me, if I had views that were thick or racist I wouldnt post them either - because yknow Embaaaaarasing but if I had views that weren’t thick or racist I would post them - because yknow, what would be the problem ? so, QED..: Because if I was JUST calling people thick or racist when they weren’t, then other people would call me out. Right? Because that’s how it works but the only people so far who are getting all precious…
  6. Yep. “Shutting down” fascists is something this country used to be good at these days, people like to pretend fascism doesn’t exist
  7. If you want to talk about tax you have to contextualise it - this is not a highly taxed country but it is a country that needs money - so what do you propose? if you dk t want to live under a left wing govt that’s your choice but how do we get from left wing govt to Russia? you make no sense
  8. You’re missing out the silent O it’s farrago
  9. So you prefer to just complain and moan ad nauseum without ever being able to point to a better path? as a country we are not taxed to the hilt. Not historically in this country or by comparing to other countries. where are you getting inflation is falling from - it’s been a bit up and down for a while but not really trending downward. But even if it was, real world prices lag behind - but it’s not universal - so things like rent could continue to spiral
  10. But who do you like to admire jazzer? This country or any other country? anyone?
  11. Fair to say, I’m slightly less gobsmacked
  12. Yep dangerous and worrying and plenty on here seem to either not grasp that or are perfectly ok with it - which is more worrying you think cancerian or any other reform voter will be any happier if reform win? Sure, just like Brexit they will laugh at the lib-tears but as reality hits, nothing but more anger and complaints And as we see with Brexit and Trump, finding out too late doesn't solve anything
  13. Tell me you don’t understand anything about anything without saying you don’t understand anything about anything repeating right-wing babble without any critical thought The Conservatives' "two-tier tax" claim over the UK-India trade deal is nonsensical. We already have such deals with numerous countries. It's only for some short-term workers. It means companies aren't paying into 2 parallel social security schemes at the same time. And the deal's reciprocal
  14. I'm not going to claim 2 old men arguing on line ISN't boring - but it's on a thread about the viability of(or otherwise) of Reform winning power in this country. If they do take power, it will because people like jazzer get away with making claims like they do without challenge I'm challenging him, and like most reform voters, he starts crying I'm twisting his words? do YOU think I'm twisting his words? if so, how? Because it's important if Reform do win power it won't be boring, it will be very bad for the country and I will know who to blame
  15. I’m quoting you directly. if I’m twisting your words show me how?
  16. it really doesn't - and claiming what you are saying is the "truth" makes you look crackers
  17. "And as for North Korea, if Starmer had his way, that's exactly how we'd be treated, no freedom of speech or thought, oops, but that's what Starmer wants though isn't it " completely unhinged and divorced from reality - a sure sign that jazzer has been deep-diving in all the usual rabbit-holes
  18. The first 9 months hasn't been a total calamity - not if you compare it to what came before. People have lost all sense of proportionality if they think Labour are THAT bad But If 2015 went differently we would have avoided Corbyn Brexit 5 prime ministers in 6 years seems like a fair trade
  19. and as luck would have it, 10th anniversary of that very vote today
  20. Lots of good points there mal but wasn’t it the same electorate who are now so angry that kept voting them back in? for me 2015 was the pivotal moment. Pre Corbyn, but after 5 years of austerity, Cameron should never have been allowed back in
  21. I agree with that The voters authorised strong austerity in 2010 and kept voting for it for 14 years - for that reason alone, given Labour have been in power for only months I can't find my else able to equate them as bad as each other. Yet. It may happen and given Labour's poor decision making and comms to date I wouldn't be surprised if they end up that way Problem is the voters say they want one thing (lower prices/better public services/things working) but then don't reward any government that tries to deliver - and they explicitly said they wanted higher prices with Brexit and lower public services by voting Cons in for 14 years - so they got what they wanted, they just don't like the reality Whoever is elected now has to find a way to address those years of underinvestment and diminished growth - there is no painless way out. But blaming immigration for everything (Reform speciality) is only making everything worse
  22. erm, I did read, I referenced and I posted - what is your point?
  23. if anyone believes Reform is a party they can trust then they really don't need to be insulted by me - they are doing all the damage themselves If people don't like the state the country is in they should question why Farage fought for Brexit and why it continues to damage the country so much. He and you will splutter it wasn't done properly but if you can't see the contradictions I can't help you
  24. Who is disrespecting the term “Blighty” I see people questioning it’s common usage in 2025 i see people calling out organisations who use it to scam people but the term Blighty itself? Nope “we r” in front of anything does add context mind you
  25. of course most people would avoid the "stupid" term - but I'm sticking with it fact is no other European would be so dumb, and even with the same information, the same media, the same everything, 2 of the countries within the UK saw ho stupid an idea it was - but only the English (who played a large part in the Welsh result) pushed ahead - there is something defiantly arrogant and stupid and it isn't just down to bad info and bad leadership But that was all 2016 - it's people in 2025 who claim it to be a good idea executed badly who are especially stupid Now - does calling people stupid help anyone? It's not especially politically gainful and just gets peoples' backs up - but it remains a truth and only when the country as a whole genuinely holds it's hands up and admits the stupidity (rather than downplaying it as a poor decision - no shade meant Mal - you are just nicer and politer than me) will it begin. to turn the tide Also worth mentioning that yes I am as intractable and blunt with friends and family who voted Leave as well - this isn't me hiding behind some online anonymous account. This is what I'm like
