Hal, I hear things have changed since you were there. Apparantly the bribes are MUCH bigger.

I got the opposite impression that he was still hung up on it. BBW as well. It's not dignified behaviour from either of them bit it's certainly entertaining to read their ranblings and especially BBW's repeated attempts to re-register under different names. I'm not sure it's the behaviour of a sane mind - he's recently been banned from another (much bigger) London based forum for pissing people off and being generally unpleasant. I know I shouldn't pay attention to this kind of juvenile crap but it's compulsive viewing, car-crash TV stuff. Once you throw Computed Shorty's nonsensical paranoid rambling into the mix alongside an over zealous moderator, it almost makes staying on a Sunday night a viable option.

My sister infrequently travels there with work, unless she can otherwise avoid it. She's got very few good words to say about the place. Slightly grim, 24/7 security for foreigners and encounters with locals (all men, all aggressive) have been less than pleasant. Obviously, with the 24/7 security she's limited to who she can meet and where she can go, so very little chance to scratch the surface of the place. If you were based there for some time and 'on your own' as it were, being a man you might have a completely different and interesting experience. As it is, and from what I understand, the only benefit for her is the additional money she is paid to work there, and even that is not enough to entice her back unless absolutely necessary.

I think these shirtless quad/motor bikers are "Snatch" types, just having a bit of fun in the sun. Definitely not on if they are breaking the speed limit, though. If reporting them to the authorities is out of the question then have you thought about simply jeering at them?

That VED is not payable by all cars is covered on the site, and quoted by Impetuos Vrow earlier on. You're very opposed to, or struggling with, the concept of 'no such thing as road tax'? Militant motorist? And sea kittens? Lol! Completely different kettle of, er, fish.

Does a large number of ingerland flags in a neighbourhood have a positive or negative effect on house prices?

Get your flags out for the tits.

No such thing as 'road tax', Karter. Roads are paid for out of general taxation. I assume you mean vehicle excise duty? www.ipayroadtax.com

Welcome. The second point was tongue in cheek but, well, y'know...no such thing as road tax etc www.ipayroadtax.com (although not sure about those jerseys)... The bike blog has had some interesting instalments, in particular yesterdays one on female cyclists vulnerability to lorries and last months look at police MTB training - some of the features can be a bit preaching to the converted but well worth a read anyway, IMHO. (Edited once for iphone URL shenanigans)

Sensibly sized, well thought out cycle lanes, perhaps separated from particularly busy roads, and penalties for drivers who cross into them. There are some amazingly ill thought lanes on the roads/pavements. The Guardian's bike blog is particularly keen on writing about it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/may/20/super-bike-lane Also like to see the introduction of a 3 point endorsement for any driver stupid enough to quip "Bloody Cyclists not payin road tax". And finally, more mutual respect between all road users.

I'm pretty much in agreement with DaveR. Threads about cycling have a tendency to become repetitive slanging matches and I notice this one has already been filled up with a decent amount of unreadable crap and only 3 posts in - well done! Not sure there's much to say that hasn't been said before on previous threads - cyclist gripes vs motorist gripes - but I am interested to know how LM proposes such a scheme should be funded and including ALL bikes - even kids bikes as well? Also, how would it be enforced and what penalties for non-compliance, refusal to register?

He is STILL very angry about his treatment on the EDF, to the point of being obsessive. Perhaps the NHF is the help he requires to find e-peace?
