  1. Also worth asking at the local Police station. Someone might have handed it in there.
  2. I'm also happy with the new pavements. My road seems brighter and smarter which I hope would have some sort of knock-on positive effect on people. Someone (the workmen?) have sprayed 'no parking Friday 26th' on the road outside The Castle. I'm assuming they'll be starting the work tomorrow.
  3. Lizzie, they only did small sections of the pavement at a time. Was it really that much of a hardship to cross over the road for 20 metres?
  4. The City and Canary Wharf at night. Terrible waste of energy and horrible light pollution.
  5. There have been notices posted on lamp posts about this for weeks now.
  6. Bike. I do this every day - through Dulwich Park, down Burbage Rd, Half moon lane, Dulwich Road, Brixton Water Lane, Effra Road, Acre Lane, Clapham Park Road, clapham Common north side, Elspeth Road (via the crossing) Latchmere Road, Battersea Bridge rd. Takes me about 20mins+/- dependant on traffic, weather etc. Not sure about your level of fitness or riding speed but it's definitely preferable to any PT routes. Driving it would be a nightmare as Herne Hill Jct is very congested ATM as is jct of Latchmere Rd & Battersea Bridge Rd.
  7. Flamenco dancing at the lido cafe?

  10. What about the Lido Cafe, Brockwell Park (owned by my friends Duncan & Dan). They've put on some very succesful parties since opening, now serve draft beer and of course can provide food. They have just opened their terrace area for the spring/summer as well. Not sure what they would charge but worth an ask as it's a lovely setting.
  11. I quite like 'The Troll's Arms' or 'The London Suburbs' (abbreviated to TLS, in keeping with the area).
  12. I reckon the day to day workings of the place are a lot more mundane than the name suggests. No need to worry about black helicopters and infra-red beams through the living room window just yet, NL ;-)
  13. Judy, you can get all of those items from the Post Office/mini supermarket next to Sainsburys. They've started doing bowls of fruit and veg for ?1, some great bargains to be had, and also have an expanding selection of organic products including milk.
  14. An old police station that now houses the Met's South Firearms Enquiry Team.

These cars are taxed. Some of the rental fee will go towards the tax. Don't worry, nobody is getting a free ride while you have to pay. Is it really a "struggle" to find a parking space? More of a minor inconvenience, I would imagine.

Poetic frustration allowed, PGC. I was just a little surprised that somebody of your calibre, standing and intellect might be troubled for so long over a pesky herb. I am somewhat relieved at your response.

It's already available at Waterloo station, and that's close enough for me.
  20. I'm going to complete this tomorrow when I'm sober. Robotcat, I'll also send you a PM. Hope it doesn't get lounged. Is it worth being stickied somewhere? Fnar, fnar etc.

Big Issue vendors should not be allowed to take pride in their appearance or try and look smart and presentable, according to some. Attempts at this shall be met with looks of disgust.
  22. A big issue seller was seen in the area.
  23. I for one hope the increase in Big Issue vendors does not have an adverse effect on house prices. Things are bad enough already without these gambling, nappy-buying, new clothes-wearing, homeless fraudsters Invading the area. Forget pot holes. There's a terrifying new menace in town.
  24. Good luck with that!!
  25. The van had a puncture. The car was there to assist. FACT.
