Recycled items dumped in our green bin

Have just found all of last weeks (Tuesday's) recycling bottles cans etc in our green household waste bin. I'm guessing that this was an oversight/mistake by the crew. Having called Southwark's recycling unit to report this, the girl in the call centre has advised me that I'll have to empty the bin back into the recycling box or it won't be collected. I'm not keen on the idea of clambering around in the dirty grimy waste receptacle but she was unable to grasp this concept. She can't register a complaint nor send an instruction to the crew right now as their IT system is down. So basically it's sort it out yourself, not our problem! Nice attitude from the council and a reflection of their attitude to recycling as a whole. Isn't Southwark one of the worst boroughs in UK for recycling waste (according to Labour, at least?

Southwark Council leaflet dropper - unbelieveable!

Or even better, unread straight into your bin! That should teach Southwark Council a thing or two. -

I'm going to bite, even though I believe that you are a (convincing) troll. You assume that everyone choosing to wear the Burka is an immigrant. What about those born here who choose to wear it? By your ruling, they're exempt from the ban. And 'darkest' Africa? Nice.

North Cross Road sub station - art installation

What about local stencil/vinyl/sticker fiend D-Face? Commission him to do something, if he'll come out of hiding. -

I know this because I was there! *Facepalm* You completely miss my point. It might appear to you that they had 'no reason to be there' but it could have been a pre-planned op based on intel. There is a lot of work going on in Southwark to combat youth & gang crime. East Dulwich / SE22, believe it or not, suffers from its fair share of such activity. It's not all sourdough loaves and Saturday markets.

Such as catching 'real' criminals? Yes, of course.

What liberty is being given up, exactly?

Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Anyone thought of getting the Beeb News or similar > involved? Is it really newsworthy? Sure, the BBC website could probably come up with something lacking in substance (excuse the pun) but there seems to be no 'real' story whatsoever.

You're very welcome. How nice. -

Good for the stats though, > which is the vote-winner. What stats are you talking about, exactly? Drug arrests in the UK have decreased, year-on-year, over the last decade. Hardly a 'vote-winner.' http://www.justice.gov.uk/docs/arrests-for-recorded-crime-england-and-wales.pdf. If 'Joe Lunchpail' and the rest of your hemp-smoking ilk are stupid enough to leave their 'stash' where 'The Man' can find it, then they deserve to be up in front of the beak and, hopefully, serve a stretch, man. Don't Bogart that joint, my friend. It could be your last.

Redalways, presumably by "real criminals" you mean murderers, rapists, violent offenders and such? Crimes such as these are typically investigated by detectives and analysts, not your average constable, who will be deployed on street duties, immediate incidents and planned operations (as mentioned in the OP). If you have concerns about particular crimes in your area, then why not attend one of the many street briefings or drop-in surgeries and let them know where their resources might be used best? http://www.met.police.uk/saferneighbourhoods/

'Innocent law-abiding herb-smokers' is an oxymoron, eater81.

Agree with Mockney & ????s - don't rule out blends, some can be very good. Also, Laphroig is def an acquired taste. Has hints of Iodine, very peaty and smokey. Not easily drinkable. Had a Glenfiddich 18 YO just before Christmas, 3 of us finished the bottle in an evening, it was very smooth and disappeared before we knew it. No sore head teh next day either. Or just go The Wire route - get him a bottle of Jamesons and a case of Heineken...beer and a shot.

File Sharing? Priceless:the new protest track from Sly and Reggie
Horsebox replied to reggie's topic in The Lounge
But how do we know the track even exists? -
I was in there last night - the guy working there wasn't too clear about it but apparantly they have to apply for a suitable license to use the outside space. Something linked to new council rules. He didn't seem too bothered about it, almost as if it was a temporary problem. Would like to hear what Nisha has to say about it. She may have more precise information. *Edited for clarity and crap iPhone typing.*

Lordship lane backed up northward to at least the library. Drivers now using Crystal Palsce road as detour but the junction with goodrich is treacherous and causing many drivers to slide about, thus causing further jams down CPR. Am watching this from comfort of The Castle. My Guinness seems to taste even better on this weather -
Awesome. No, really, some dazzling stuff there.
