Just because it's not reported on the Nunhead forum doesn't mean it didn't happen. Vigilante stuff is moving forward nicely, just got to iron out a few 'elf & safety issues with the council, a few baksheesh issues with the old bill and insurance issues with anyone that will have us. (I qiute like the look of this bar, am partial to a Negroni or 2 so will be paying a visit when I'm back on the sauce.

It went well thanks tony. 8 teams from all over London including charlton, parliament hill, Croydon, kennington and representatives from the forum as well (not me). My team, HMU Petanque, won 3 and lost 3 placing is 4th overall. Not too shabby as we played against some rather impressive French/North African teams. All in all a succesful day with lovely weather and good crowd of people. There's the Ricard open triples at Battersea Park on 12th July, free to enter and top prize is weekend in south of France. I'll start a new thread later on when I'm not on my iPhone and can type properly.

Has anyone else heard the fireworks at 10.45 tonight?
Horsebox replied to A's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There is a law regarding the use of fireworks - their use is banned between 11:00pm and 07:00 am except for Diwali, Guy Fawkes, New Year and Chinese New Year. Whilst the sound might have annoyed you last night, if it's only a one off thing and they weren't outside of the curfew times then it's worth while having a little perspective on this 'event' - it would be quite mean-spirited to make a complaint about it to the college/authorities etc and will more than likely get you nowhere anyway. -
One final bump for all you early(ish) risers that have nothing to do today. Come clack with us at Boulewell Park.

I've given up booze and am bored out of my mind!
Horsebox replied to LegalEagle-ish's topic in The Lounge
Petanque at Brockwell PArk, today at 10.30 / 11:00. Triples tournament, ?5 per team, prize for the winners, all welcome. I've given up booze as well, since 1st June. The pub was very boring at first and more expensive to drink non-alcoholic beers / interesting 'posh' soft drinks than to drink ales.(6) but vaguely amusing watching my friends get drunker and drunker. I feel better for it,fresher, sleeping better and have lost a little girth as well. Having said all that, I'm off to France and Spain next week so am going to get right on it as a reward to myself for being so good :)-D -
Cheers Tony. Bumping this again for all those that missed it the first time. Roll up, roll up.

You're hired on whatever terms you care to draw up. MrBen, bring the pain. I'm pushing for a strict anti-cat stance. Louisiana, no, it's not. I'm just trying to bring a little order back to the neighbourhood, not install a New World Order :-$

ITS TIME WE (AND BY WE 'I' MEAN 'YOU' AND 'ME') ,LAW ABIDING, HARD WORKING, TAX PAYING, FURIOUS RAGING, CRIME FEARING, CHURCH (OR MOSQUE/SYNAGOGUE/OR THE SIKH ONE)GOING, FUDGE PACKING CITIZENS OF EAST DULWICH DID SOMETHING ABOUT THE CRIME WAVE THAT AT THIS VERY MOMENT AS I TYPE THESE VERY WORDS LITERALLY SWEEPING THROUGH THE AREA. I PROPOSE A MEETING, YES A MEETING, OF MINDS AND PITCHFORKS SO THAT WE CAN UNITE AND MOBILISE AGAINST THE CRIMINALS AND PONDLIFE SCUMBAGS THAT PERPETRATE THE OFFENCES THAT THREATEN THE VERY CORE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD ABOUT SOCIETY. WE SHALL TAKE BACK OUR STREETS AND OUR PLAYGROUNDS ONCE AND FOR ALL! I NEED A SHOW OF HANDS BEFORE I CAN BOOK A SUITABLE VENUE BUT PERHAPS THE IRISH CENTRE ON LORDSHIP LANE WOULD DO? THANKS IN ANTICIPATION. p.s. does anybody have a tea-urn that they could bring to the first one? I can supply the teabags...

andy_nd, you beat me to it. and Louisiana - LOL! RGutsell, you bleat on about stuff that you seem to know very little about. Either you are trolling (then well done) or you really need to get a life. I'm still failing to understand your point about mudguards. I regularly ride in the rain (in pretty much all weather in fact) and surface water is thrown forward by my front wheel, not up into my face and I'm still trying to understand your point about 'a muddy, cold back affecting ones ability to see and react to danger'. It doesn't make a lick of sense. Oh, I ride a mountain bike on my commute to work. 9 miles each way and no problems so far. It gets me there just fine. Would you prefer to see everybody riding 'sit up and beg' shoppers? As a cyclist (...remember!!) you should know that London is not a flat city therefore shopper bikes = cyclefail.

Oh my actual gosh. Is it safe to go out anymore? It seems as though feral youth are taking over the streets of ED. It used to be so safe around here and there was never any crime. What's happened and more importantly WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT IT? I VOTE FOR CORPORAL PUNISHMENT!!!!1!

Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > p'raps the mudguards would be to stop the cars > getting dirty with the backspray...... Indeed. Nothing worse than a dirrrrrty automobile.

If you're in the area then come and check it out and say hello, of course. If you did want to enter a team then come Along early. There's a couple of decent pubs nearby for ales and pastis if you need something to calm the nerves after the initial excitement of your first game. Big up.

Am awaiting confirmation from el-presidente but these things are usually registration at 10.30 with a view to starting games at 11.00. Can we expect you to make an appearance, tony?
-
Built in lights? So most if not all bicycles would be unsuitable for road use under your scheme. And what purpose would mudguards serve other than to keep the cyclist a little cleaner? Nope.
-
Bumping this. Come along next Sunday, new players always welcome or feel free to sit around getting tanked up on lager and jeering the opposition.

Did they sound like foxes mating? Now that would be scary.
