  1. Great day had by all, congratulations to Greg who won the men's race and the the girl who won the ladies (whose name I didn't catch). The Winners
  2. I believe some people start drinking "warming up" from 12 onwards but most will get there about 1pm.
  3. I never realised those camera vans could check a number plate with DVLA and from that and tell the colour of the driver, decide whether the car's nice or not, then issue an order to stop the vehicle. Technology these days truly is amazing.

  5. You are wrong, it isn't ?800,000 for the revamp. I believe it's around the ?240,000 mark and that's for when it's fully finished ie with additional kiddie swings and a other things, not its current state. It's been delayed for 'elf and safety reasons, the inspector needs a few changes made before he can pass it.
  6. I've booked the boardroom (with a big screen) for a 2 hour 'meeting' from 3pm. It has a big screen in there and I'm taking in a portable aerial in case the internet streaming goes down. It's an open meeting so anyone's free to come and go and we'll be discussing stuff, especially pressing international issues.
  7. and it's a vote for the screens from me
  8. Thanks for the tips, pablo I'll send you a PM and I'm now on the look out for a 400 watt mobile like.
  9. I'm helping out at a wedding and the guy who owns the venue wants to charge us ?200 for the weekend to hire his PA which is basically an amp and some speakers. I was wondering if it's possible to buy our own amp and speakers for around ?200 - ?250 which we can then keep. We're not talking about a 7K Turbo sound system or a thumping Spiral Tribe setup, think of it as background music for about 80 people at a summer picnic. People will be talking and nodding their heads to the music, the odd person may stand up and dance a bit but then realise they look odd so stop dancing, there will be no mosh pit and no-one packing boxes/making shapes. We need to be able to plug in ipods and laptop (there's a Traktor DJ in the place) via mini jack to phono leads, and the sound should be decent, not tinny speakers. It'll be sunny so it doesn't have to be a weatherproof system and the smaller the better as it has to travel in the boot a small car. So I ask the the fountain of knowledge that is the forum, is it possible? Is something like this http://www.soundsavers.com/shop/audio-equipment/pa-systems/installation-pa-systems/products/deluxe-quad-outdoor-speaker-sound-system-with-mixer-amplifier---tuner.html for ?229 or this http://www.soundsavers.com/shop/audio-equipment/pa-systems/installation-pa-systems/products/100w--two-speaker-background-music-sound-system-with-digital-tuner-amplfier-.html for ?149 worth looking at or are they shite? Any advice greatly appreciated [edited once]
  10. I know it's off topic but the second post called someone a Nazi, Godwin's Law doesn't apply here. Search the forum for some good and bad examples.
  11. Hi Barry Thanks for asking for people's input. It's a bit general but it would be great for the station to look like a nice place to get off, currently the fences (including Domino's razor wire) make it look like you're getting off at some rough-neck inner-city neighbourhood. Could the steel/galvanised wire fencing be changed to the green wire fencing, or preferably removed totally, to take away the 'being herded' feeling when you get off the train? The fencing at the back of the platform is steel (as seen on the ED postcards) and the lamp-posts are grey, all very 'Slough in the rain'. I'm not saying they should be pink, flamboyant and Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen, just a bit more welcoming.
  12. Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm going to keep doing a bit more research, have a word with the guys at BC/Balfes, maybe try Edwardes to see what they're like and test ride a few more.
  13. Ignore the "where are bikes the serial numbers" question, I've just found this Locating your bike?s serial number
  14. I'm looking to buy a bike with a budget of about ?300-?350. It won't be for commuting but will be for long rides in the country and a small bit of off-roading so a hybrid will be best. I've tried this bike Trek 7.2 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/72-fx-2009-hybrid-bike-ec016505 in Evans which seemed to be ok, but I was looking on Gumtree to see what I can get for the same money but seconhand. So, apart from asking for receipts and looking for removed serial numbers (where are they btw?) is there a way to tell if a bike's nicked? This one http://www.gumtree.com/london/42/59421742.html looks good but seeing as it was purchased in January yet has been "serviced annually" and there's no photo makes me suspicious, plus the fact a new one is ?700, asking ?220 for it is too good to be true methinks. Is there a legit place to buy secondhand, serviced bikes? Does Balfes (or what ever it's called now) do second hand bikes? Any advice greatly appreciated Thanks
  15. ok, big apologies but I missed out the last 128 days on the previous version of this graph (it only went up to 1000 rows before). Here it is: [edited] to add: I've attached the file if anyone wants to play with it and make something up.
  16. Can you BBQ in Dulwich Park
  17. Very valid point Huguenot, you can see the Lounge traffic dip in July last year when the other rooms were created. Sorry Keef, the stats come from Google Analytics which measures general website traffic it can't work out individual's actions from the forum's database. Unspecifically I can tell you though that your posts have gone from 'a lot' to 'not as many'.
  18. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So, to a degree, suggests that the Lounge, > uniquely, is on the slide.... Perhaps just plateauing, here's another one with a 60 day moving average trendline* *I don't know if that's the right one to use but it looks ok.
  19. Yes, the traffic peaked (because everyone switched from Eastenders to the Silver Fox/Sean MacGabhann Love Tiff on the forum) and it skewed the results so it was omitted.
  20. How to perform CPR properly:
  21. I think there was a highly publicised stabbing in Peckham, and for some strange reason if you search google for street gangs in london we used to come first but now we're about 10th.
  22. Just out of interest here's some of the latest stats about the forum. If anyone would like to know any specific stats please just ask and we'll see what we can produce for you.
