  1. and the same for buggies and Claphamisation
  2. Closing it down now would take away a popular service and mean there's a an empty shop unit on Lordship Lane. Caffe Nero have done wrong there's no denying that so would it be possible to grant them A3 yet fine them a huge amount for the offence, say ?223,000 which would have to go directly into our community? I've met people who are adamant that Caffe Nero must close down because they've done wrong but closing them down isn't the only option (or is it?). It would be great if it could be turned to the East Dulwich community's advantage, keep it open and have the money to put back into community wardens, street cleaners, general improvements etc When's the appeal hearing?
  3. A NatWest would be good
  4. Jenny, you really haven't a clue about how to deal and interact with people have you? I hope your internal issues will be resolved one day and you find peace with yourself and therefore others. In the meantime I hope you enjoy your new life in Swindon.
  5. Seconded, I have a Toppy 5800 and it's great. When we're going to get round to watching the 22 episodes of House it's recorded I don't know but at least they're there. And with a bit of fiddling you can set it up to record by text, so if you're down the pub and are going to be there longer than you thought (it happens) then text your Toppy, relax and have another pint.
  6. I'm not disagreeing with you but how come the Sun's front cover today has a photo saying "Doctor Evil, face of bomb suspect medic"? Surely that's implying that he did it? (I'm talking about a different crime here by the way, just to clarify)
  7. Just to lift the last paragraph from the http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0200southlondonheadlines/tm_headline=teen-is-arrested-in-child-snatch-fears%26method=full%26objectid=19397649%26siteid=50100-name_page.html "Detective Chief Inspector David Ainscough, of Southwark CID, said: "We are reviewing any possible links to recently reported crimes and, in particular, asking if anyone witnessed this incident or has any information to contact us." Call 020 7232 6222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111." So if you did see anything please give them a call.
  8. Just to answer that one if I may, the East Dulwich Forum acts as soon as possible when informed of posts that are offensive/illegal etc. The forum would be accountable if it didn't act on some legal matters so it always errs on the side of caution. It's meant to be a useful, informative and fun place for the community and has nothing to gain from breaking the law. OK, as the Administrator would say, back on topic please.
  9. Sage said: "If you were walking or jogging down the road and someone jumped out of an unmarked car/van and tried to grab you wouldn't you put up a fight?" Not if they identified themselves as Police first, no way, but as we don't know the facts we can carry on speculating whether he put up a fight or not, whether he's innocent or guilty, whether God will help his sanity or not. I for one like the fact that the Police acted on this, you can't accuse this of being a quick fix, they acted on a crime, simple as. If this was a big story in the press and they were being accused of not doing something then yes, you maybe right, but this was a discreet operation and they had nothing to prove.
  10. I recommend going to the Black Cherry for a night out, they do great Mojitos
  11. yes, I have *hic*
  12. spadetownboy said: "you obviously havnt succeeded so try again." nah, can't be bothered if that's the level of your argument 23% of people smoke so therefore and if my maths is correct, 77% don't. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42442000/gif/_42442244_smoking203x224.gif Do you really think it's worth having a vote/referendum on whether smoking should be banned in a public place?
  13. just ask behind the bar who are the people from the forum, they'll point them out. Oh and people tend to introduce themselves by their real name instead of their posting name, that comes out later. Plus of course people come along who have never posted.
  14. where's the democracy in this, I can no longer carry an 8inch knife in a pub, I was given no choice in this, doesn't sound very democratic to me (of course I never have really, just trying to make a daft statement look dafter)
  15. gosh, what would I do without you macroban? fuck it, Admin please lounge this, I'm going to start a new post
  16. Thanks for pointing that out, I'm really grateful. Just to clarify, I'm looking for someone between the ages of 0 to infinity. I've also changed the title from "door-to-door deliverer wanted - earn extra pocket money" to "door-to-door deliverer wanted - earn extra cash" just in case.
  17. I have a few postcards that I would like delivering door to door round East Dulwich. It would be a few hours work, something that could be done in a couple of evenings in the week. It would probably suit someone who wants to earn a bit of extra pocket money (yes, that's another way of saying I can't afford to pay much), perhaps a couple of trustworty school mates want come extra cash for an extra big bottle of pop and some joke chewing gum (or booze and fags). Anyway if you know someone who could help please email me [email protected] or send me a Private Message ("PM me") thanks Mark
  18. excellent, although it means I'll frequent the Gowlett and CPT more often which probably will offset the smoke free health benefits
  19. you can see it from this shot from above (you may have noticed I'm a fan of MSN's aerial photos)
  20. Dulwich_ Park_ Fairy = your question to ChavWivaLawDegree is answered on this thread
  21. I've used two twice for winter clothes storage and duvet storage and so far it's been fine but I'll make doubly sure I'm careful next time. Thanks for the warning.
  22. Storage tip of the day: there's these storage bags from Argos that you put clothes, duvets and such like in, zip it up, put your vacuum cleaner hose on it, suck out the air and it compresses everything. Now I can get three times as much sh*t stored under the bed. Sorry, not a particularly interesting post but hopefully useful to someone
  23. Gosh I've read that post three times now and don't know where to start. May I suggest that you don't make assumptions and such generalisations on people Jenny, you don't know what colour we are, where we're from, what our sexual preferences are etc etc. Don't tar everyone with the same brush as someone who has rubbed you up the wrong way, you may be pleasantly surprised how nice people in the community actually are. Just out of curiosity, where are you moving to? [edited twice]

    tessa

I wrote to her once last year (and emailed her to make sure she got it) but never heard back. Hopefully I will soon though, fingers crossed.
