UKIP was always the "acceptable face" of the hard right... if you fraternise with that lot, you're either a racist, or you knowingly turn a blind eye to racism, or you're incredibly stupid. Tommy Robinson and his ilk getting involved with UKIP is probably a good thing if it means their true agenda is a little more transparent.

Do you not get fake ?10 notes too?

I think the property guardians thing is a great idea in theory, but I was really surprised to hear how much they charge to live in these places. It's more of an alternative to flat sharing than it is to squatting. And you can be booted out at any point, with only one month's notice.

Looking for restaurant recommendation - London Bridge
fishbiscuits replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in The Lounge
Jose and Brindisa... yes both v good, but personally I hate queuing for restaurants, so I can't really be arsed. Lobos is another really good tapas place nearby, that thankfully do actually take reservations. Elliots is nice. Applebees, if you like fish. -
Lived in South London for almost 20 years, had four incidents. 3 x very aggressive begging or borderline attempted mugging (each time I just legged it), 1 x phone snatch-and-run. I'm not really into breaking down crimes by race, but suffice to say that I'm much more wary of unkempt white men stinking of booze with tattoos on their faces, than I am of black teenagers.

It's absolutely disgusting! Dropping an elderly and vulnerable person home in the middle of the night is already unacceptable. But when there's no care available to help her go to the toilet and get into bed.. outrageous..

I've slipped there before. Thankfully no injury though. -

DulwichBorn&Bred Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Rock Steady Rum Lounge. > > https://www.rocksteadyrumlounge.com That looks good. Is it actually a pop-up inside Blue Mountain Cafe? Or has Blue Mountain closed, and they've taken the premises? (sorry, I don't get over that way much these days)

The bus is quite plainly a totally unsuitable way to travel, for anyone who needs to be somewhere by a certain time. Need to be at work for a meeting at 9am? Need to pick up kids from school before 6pm? Forget it. They are slow and cumbersome, lurching between stops which are sometimes ludicrously close together. Constantly delayed by roadworks and diversions, traffic accidents, delivery vans parked in bus lanes, and passengers asking the driver stupid questions. Saying that, this morning both Southern and Overground trains were all cancelled too. Cycling is clearly one solution... the infrastructure has been improved but it still has a long way to go before I'm willing to risk it. Walking? Electric scooter/self-balancing thing? (not strictly legal..)

Never had steak at xmas, but had a lovely rib of beef a couple of years ago. Unfortunately you cannot really cook it in a dishwasher though.

Yep, definitely fake. It's a password she would have used to register on another website at some point in the past, which has subsequently been sold/hacked. Maybe a good idea to review all email and social media pwds though.

Hope all is well. Maybe meet at a curry club one day in the not too distant future...

Are houses selling around here at all?
fishbiscuits replied to James's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
KFH - seriously overvalue properties in order to get it on their books. 2 weeks before the end of the exclusive agent period, they lower the price. I really hate that tactic. And while they might appear to get a lot of viewings, they drive clients around a bunch of properties they didn't want to see and don't meet their spec. -
With Deliveroo, you can tell if it's coming from their own kitchen as it's labelled "editions". Just Eat is always just a normal takeaway.

KFH and Foxtons - terrible. Apart from that, it doesn't really matter. As long as it's on Rightmove and the price is competitive. -
By suggesting people "learn to cook", you are rather missing the point. It's a convenience. You get takeaways if you're short of time, or don't fancy cooking.
-
When Deliveroo started, it was supposed to be a "premium" service, i.e. delivering food from the type of restaurants that wouldn't normally deliver. Now they're reheating pre-prepared food in metal boxes in industrial estates, and charging restaurant prices for it.

The Begging Bowl?s Kickstarter Campaign
fishbiscuits replied to landellsrd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I once had a flatmate who'd been on holiday to India. When he got back home, he insisted on ordering his takeaway curry with some sort of pseudo-Indian accent. When the food arrived, he'd changed into his "kurta", and proceeded to eat the food with his hands, mushing it up into balls. While telling me how it was nothing like real Indian food. I don't know why some people feel the need to "educate" others when it comes to food, in a vaguely condescending way. Authenticity is not the be all and end all, and I'm sure the BB isn't the best Thai restaurant in London - I certainly wouldn't consider it a "destination" restaurant. And yeah, I've had a couple of disappointing dishes there over the years, but overall it's a decent local option. -
I think sometimes people confuse "homeopathic" with "natural". Sometimes it's worth clarifying. While actual homeopathy is complete nonsense (and arguably unethical), natural/herbal remedies can be useful in some circumstances.

TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Little known fact, Swan goes great with a bit of > chip shop curry sauce.... Sounds interesting. What would be the correct drinking vessel for curry sauce? The classic 20-sided "granyonyi stakkan"? Or maybe go edgy, and opt for mismatched vintage jam jars?

Article was temporarily interesting, before it descended into biblical claptrap.

We're going for basswan this year - whole individual seabass stuffed with swan forcemeat, served with a saffron sauce. Bob, you sound like a sophisticated type of chap, what wine do you think we should serve? Maybe a Montrachet Grand Cru?
