Regardless Sue, I'm sure they would appreciate being offered a drink as it's extremely hot at the moment -
Please wear masks - Covid is still with us
Spartacus replied to AylwardS's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Interesting response 49% of the UK population suffers hay or pollen fever (https://www.allergyuk.org/about-allergy/statistics-and-figures/#:~:text=Allergic%20rhinitis%20is%20the%20most,%2F%20Kleenex%C2%AE%2C%202020). ) Yet we don't see them wearing masks The reality is that side of the world went through SARs and the learnt the lesson that masks help stop the spread whereas we have gotten through the first two waves and think we are indestructible (Only Captain Scarlet truly is) Our memories are collectively very short and people see wearing masks as an inconvenience not a social responsibility -

Just a thought, try renaming the file to remove the "," in it to see if that's the cause -

Hi Joe The link to send PMs exists on mobiles in landscape mode but not in portrait mode and is possibly lost when responsive display kicks in. For now simple solution, if user can, is rotate their phones to access it 🤔

I'm still falling to the clicking on link not the last page syndrome Did the old forum open the last page of a thread if you clicked on it and not the first? (memory is terrible in the heat) -
Apparently (source bbc news) it was 15 consecutive days where the temperature was 32 degrees or higher.

Please wear masks - Covid is still with us
Spartacus replied to AylwardS's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Infection rates for 4 and 5 are starting to sky rocket and there is evidence that you are not immune post infection yet there is still no common sense over mask wearing either from up high or by the population at large. Despite the premise that we should learn to live with Covid, more can be done to reduce its spread. I was fascinated by the images from Japan over the past few days following the assignation of their former PM. Almost everyone is wearing a mask, yet here the numbers are rising and the mentality is "I don't need to wear a mask" Common sense we just don't have as a nation -
CAD have tweeted in the past on the subject Physical barrier needed Access for emergency services shouldn't come at a cost of putting people walking, wheeling or cycling at risk Physicsl barrier (again) It's a drum that CAD are beating regardless of the risk of delaying emergency services 😲

Saw this earlier about the Lambeth LTN, but also mentions Southwark LTN BBC News - Lambeth: £22m in low-traffic fines an abuse of power, say campaigners https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-62016690

I just remembered The tarmac on some roads softened and huge tracks appeared where cars and lorries drove along it

Click the small speech bubble where it says "Contact:" to the left of the post. That only appears on a desktop version and not on the mobile portrait version ... unless you rotate your phone to landscape

In 40 years time TB, you will be posting about the 22 heatwave and kids will be laughing at you :o I wonder how many from this youthful generation would cope if 76 problems happened again or would the find walking to a standpipe or saving water by bathing with a friend (had its ups and downs  ) too much and demand government action to turn the sun down ?

Like programs on the telly you don't enjoy, you simply have to stop using or viewing it rather then complaining. I bet you still are holding on to an old xp version PC because you didn't like Windows Vista :) -
Are we about to break the 1976 heatwave record? What's your memory of 76 ? Mine is standpipes and cracked earth where it was so dry

Couple of things I've noticed The facility to report a message to admin hasn't been enabled (sorry just seem the ! At the top of a post which is how to report a message) The Welcome to the CGF thread has images imbeded using BBcode but the Forum doesn't seem to have been enabled yet to show them (may be a legacy post issue) The old forum allowed you to respond via private message to a post. Is this facility available ? Oh and after editing the post to add the report to admin sub text, it doesn't inform others that the post has been edited which means discussions can be changed to make the responder look out of context -

Thanks Joe A hot day to do the migration and possibly for the best that the last 20 days have been lost  Long live the Forum -
Regardless Billy, if the rumour is true then an independent started by Barry and his Brother over 40 years ago and grown organically is about to change hands, which is a shame for those that know and love it.

Rumours are flying that the lovely team behind Barry's on Barry Road have sold up to Nisa and a local institution will never be the same again. Only time will tell😲

Warning: climate vandals are back
Spartacus replied to Rockets's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
DKHB you've obviously never seen an American car chase movie where anything that gets flipped over can and will expolode possibly leading to massive loss of limbs and life except for the hero standing directly in its path. However as the police have already warned the idiots letting car tyres down then it is criminal damage and vigilantism at its finest. As described earlier, the let down gang don't know who owns or what circumstances a car is for and could jeapodise someone who needs it urgently (for example an emergency Dr called to theater to help after a car chase resulted in a car flipping ....) -
Warning: climate vandals are back
Spartacus replied to Rockets's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Call it what you will weaseley, it's still vigilantism as they are taking the law into their own hands, and not marching on Downing Street. Do you support vigilantism? if so are saying that you support someone taking a tyre iron to someone letting down their tyres... see how easily it could escalate🤔 -

Spartacus replied to Rockets's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This all strikes me of vigilantism. Taking the law into their own hands because they think driving a car is a crime and some on here seem to publicly support it. What next ? Gangs roaming the streets taking revenge in people enjoying a bbq because tjey create pollutants? People getting attacked for shopping in William Rose because cows cause methane so meat eaters are a problem ? Once you start going down the vigilante route where will it stop and would you then condemn people if they defended themselves and their property when they are targeted? Be warned its a slippery slope and supporting actions of the vigilantes is only encouraging more extreme tactics potentially by both sides. -
DR I wad responding to AM's post about Noddy Stiles( who obviously went on to start slade under a different name and tell everyone its Christmas) but that's the art of replying in sequence to the poster before 🤔😎 As for the fridge, yesterday that would have been an excellent suggestion but today not needed 🤣

Saying Englad won a world Cup under Labour is implying that Harold Wilson kicked the winning goal, my point is both would have happened regardless of the political party in charge and implying that things were better under Labour (world Cup win) is using rose tinted spectacles as all parties are as bad as each other.
