Consultation here https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/busreview There is proposal to reroute the 148 to cover the Camberwell Green, Peckham, Rye Lane, Barry Road sections but it does remove the ability to get to Oxford Circus as a change would be needed at Parliament Square.

Plus the councillors Rose (responsible for making bus journeys faster) and Williams (leader) to ask what they are doing ?
-
James Now you are settled back in office, can you raise with your fellow councillors and the leader the issue around the removal of the no 12 bus service by TfL as highlighted here /forum/read.php?5,2277496,2279861#msg-2279861 Obviously this is short sighted by TfL and the impact will be massive on the community, elderly and disabled who rely on it and as commuter numbers increase whilst we return to more normal working patterns there will obviously be less alternatives to driving which goes against the councils goal of reducing car usage. I look forward to how you and the council will work with the community and TfL to overturn this ludicrous removal of essential local bus services.

Thanks Kel That's a kick in the Teeth for the area and residents along Barry Road who depend on the 12 to get to work.

Here's an question for you all If there is a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson, which he loses, assuming the government doesn't go back to the polls with a general election and there will be a new Tory PM selected which of the existing Tory MPs is the one that could be PM. Frankly, none of them stand out in anyway for me but Gove and Rees-Mogg would be akin to voting for Trump in mind.

Bob, i had you down as an iClone watch sort of guy🤔 Possibly of the back of a builders lorry 🤣

If only the 4th of July had gone the other way... 🤣

Todays telegraph has an article (behind the paywall) talking about how our diets during the coronation were better for us then now. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/eating-habits-need-bring-back-1950s I've turned it into a PFF for those who aren't subscribers. There's also a good book called "Fat: An Appreciation of a Misunderstood Ingredient, with Recipes" by Jennifer McLagan which talks about how Fats were demonised because the salt and sugar lobbies fought their corner when it was recommended (based on the 50s diet) that we ate using moderate amounts of Fat, sugar and salt.in our diets. Quite scary to think that food industries have apparently made us obese and with a change back to eating around a table, switching television off and home cooking we could reverse the trend Are you up for the challenge?

At least Johnny foreigner didn't convince us to drive on the wrong side of the road. Maybe that's the next stage of the masterplan, convert Europe to drive on the right (left) hand side of the road 🤔

Gala setting up on Peckham Rye

Street parties where road closures are required have to be planned months in advance with the council and emergency services (to ensure they know the road is closed) so the idea of being able to move it at short notice to another non gala day is frankly insane thinking. -
Sep Obviously you took a mile here after someone gave you an inch 🙄

I would have thought comparing Borough bread with Hovis would have been a closer match Bob

Sep Looking forward to a cashless society and how YOU will cope if there's a cyber attack on the instututions that handle transactions and your ability to pay is compromised. Then cash will 100% be king. Far fetched? Maybe but possibly not impossible.
-
It's more about sending a message to their management. The shop floor workers would have to escalate it to their shift managers to deal with so they won't be directly impacted. After all you're not refusing to pay, just asking for cash to be used.
-
Maybe we should organise a cash campaign by all going in, ordering things then saying "I've only got cash on me" to see how they react. I wonder how they would deal with it if you had already eaten their products 🤔

What happened with your cheese comparisons ?

In the old days, the 12 used to run from Coulsdon to Notting Hill via East Dulwich, then the route was curtailed to Coulsdon then cut off from Notting hill so a total cut wouldn't surprise me

Best Breakfast in East Dulwich/Peckham?

I'm looking forward to seeing what the blue mountain site offers when it reopens Boy they used to do a good breakfast back in the day when Mel first opened it -
If you believe in privacy, then going cashless potentially means that a number of organisations, including your bank, will know every item you purchase and your lifestyle. Imagine a dystopia future (some would say we're there already) where every donut or pint of beer you purchase is shared with your health care insurance provider or the NHS and your lifestyle choices then effect the treatments you receive (extreme I know But who knew how much data facebook for example shared about us) Or if you regularly buy certain products, which are tracked by using your card rather than cash, how much more targeting marketing companies can aim at you. Cash really does allow you to have the illusion of controlling your data.
-
The problem is that for a business, it costs time (and money) to count up cash, cash can go missing and then the banks charge to deposit or withdraw cash whereas cardless makes it easier to manage hidden costs plus less chance of accepting a dodgy note. It's why buses went cashless However, it does stop you wandering out with a fiver in your pocket and getting an incidental coffee or cake as you pass so whilst I see why businesses do it, I do belive they turn many away who would have spent cash with them. Now I guess I need to put a for sale post up for near perfect ?20 printing plates🤔

Billy, it's not about the funding from central government but a managed decline in the number of buses in inner London so that he can provide more buses to outer London. The general managed decline you mentioned is about the whole of TfL and is a different strategy to get funding. This seems to be more about deployment of resources and potentially a carrot to encourage outer London car users to support an expanded ULEZ but the BBC london clip shows how so many are reliant on buses and reducing their service is going to impact them badly.
