  4. I guess there is shite on the News, Monday was blue Monday (which is Shite) so I guess a thread on the same subject is only reasonable. Foxy, don't hold in your pride and ask your GP or hospital team for a suppository to get things moving.

Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The initial rollout was speedy but other countries > caught up and overtook UK pretty quickly (with > much higher vaccination rates to boot) > It always fascinates me that a conclusion leap can be made between vaccination rates in a country and a government where as it is more likely that a lower rate is down to vaccine hesitantancy, cultural beliefs and anti-vaxers. Guess the only way to keep up with other countries is do as they are (mandatory vaccinations for all of vaccine passports) but I'm not convinced that is a good political move for any country. note the compulsory vaccination of frontline health workers shows how these policies are causing controversy

  8. If I was a gambler, I would bet on this will be touted as the reason the leaks are happening now : BBC News - Chinese agent infiltrates UK Parliament, says MI5 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59984380 Funny how the news is,released 24 hours after the PM was forced to apologise during PMQs
  9. Jazzer how very dare you The only time I've ever heard LBC was in the back of an uber where some shouty bloke was going on about "bulldogs .... save the Queen" No idea and I prefer the mellow sounds of smooth FM 😎 DKHB interesting point ... maybe it's all lies including the actual parties and it's being let loose to hide something else πŸ€”
  10. I am fascinated by how this story is unfolding, not from the point of "what's coming next" but from the perspective of who's leaking the information , why now and what are they hoping to gain ? I'm not excusing what's happened but someone clearly has an agenda and expects to see benefits from either a change in PM or toppling the Tory party from power. Politics is a dirty business and the press seems to be showing their true colours by not digging deeper into what the story behind the leaks is. Is it Dom out for revenge, Gove doing a power play or Andrew looking to deflect news away from himself? (okay the last one is unlikely) I'm personally curious to look behind the headlines and understand more about who and why these leaks are being drip fed to us at this moment in time. After all they must have sat on them for many months !
  11. The issue with pedestrianisation of Oxford street is that currently people with limited mobility use buses and taxis to traverse it's length. Remove vehicles and you will make it less accessible as its a long street so shoppers with mobility issues will go elsewhere. Whilst you can argue that one or two shoppers going elsewhere isn't a big deal, they often come with family, carers or friends so the loss of shoppers increases. On top of that many bus routes don't terminate on or near Oxford Street, but go through it to get to other destinations so they will need to be rerouted to bypass any closures. A good example of both effects was the recent closure of Rye Lane where bus journeys took longer and businesses claim they suffered a fall in sales. So the issue of closing to traffic isn't bad simple as it looks.

    Dilemma

With the 12th night already passed, I'm still getting late Christmas cards (post delays) My dilemma is should I put them up or store them / dispose of them ? If I put them up past the 12th night then does tradition apply and they have to stay up for 12 months ? If I don't put them up. Is it disrespectful to the people who sent them ? What are other people doing with delayed Christmas cards ?
  13. I can't endorse this company or vouch for the product (as I haven't personally tried it) but I was recommended this product which allows couriers to leave deliveries in a secure box outside your house. It also has a mechanism to allow subsequent deliveries. Might be worth a look if you get lots of deliveries whilst you are out. https://www.iparcelbox.com/
  14. Merry Christmas one and all
  15. ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > OTOH, if you were alone in the forest and > inadvertently dropped your peanut butter sandwich, > it's probably the ground it's going to end up on. If a peanut butter sandwich falls to the ground in a forest and there's no-one there to hear it, does it make a sound ? Bit of a chicken and egg dilemma there as how did the peanut butter sandwich fall in the first place (or get there) if there's no one there to hear it fall πŸ€”
  16. Maybe that's why the TfL bailout has been extended To ensure there are buses left to throw people under πŸ˜„
  17. Let's be honest It's not bad cyclists, it's not bad motorists, it's not bad pedestrians It's simply because everyone feels time pressured and short cuts / risks are taken which then highlights an issue (be it bad overtaking, jumping a red light... ) There's no easy fix but in the 60s and 70s there where public information films about being respectful to other road users (these also included the green cross man / tufty) and maybe we all need a reminder that we all share the road and none of us own it ... Now where's Steven Spielberg when you need him)

  20. Will it have a daily mail special "You won't believe your mince pies"or similar ?
  21. The possibility is that it's an open pot that tipped over in the back of a van (or sideways opening rear doors vehicle) and that the driver also has paint everywhere inside and partially down the back as well. Would be easy to locate if it was OZ yellow paint as you simply follow the yellow brick road to find the wonderful wizard of bodge

At 9.34 in the morning, they've either started super early or still parting hard from last night Either way it's not just covid they risk but a super sized hang over ! Awh the youth of today we could never have done anything reckless like partying hard when we were young Enjoy your Christmas partyπŸŽ…πŸ˜‚

I think it was more prevalent when a street was a community depending on each other and often with shops on it where neighbours meet The decline in shops on virtually every street, the introduction of television and the internet has made us more secluded as a community The idea of taking food around when someone had died was to take away a bit of the immediate stress and worry of the widow or widower Quite quaint really

  25. I'm now imagining a bloke, let's call him Vern, a big fella wearing a sheepskin coat brandishing a sawn off Christmas tree yelling "you'll never take me alive copper" 😎
