Is that a daily or lifetime limit Sue ?
-
It's an interesting philosophical question. As an employer, if someone quits due to a better offer which then doesn't exist, and they come back cap in hand, would you take them back knowing they are looking for better opportunities? I suppose it does depend on how good the employer / employee relationship is ! Outside of that, congratulations have to go to Sarah King as the first female leader in ages. (Not that Gender is important here)

Soak a cloths in jeyes fluid and leave them where the foxes frequent. The smell drives them away

Interesting stats on cycle red light jumpers
Spartacus replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
A radical thinking friend recently suggested, over a few pints, that all pedestrians are issued a shotgun, with 99 out of 100 having blanks and 1 in a 100 a live cartridge. He suggested that pedestrians could legally fire at any vehicle or cyclust jumping a red light with the offenders facing a 1 in 100 chance of not making it through unscathed . Not sure its ethical or legal but it feels like the same sort of odds pedestrians face of being hit by a cyclist when crossing. -

Smacks of "its too hard to stop them so let them do it" Slightly defeatist and will encourage other road users to do the same -

I think, Sue, that is the definition of addiction. Exactly what phone companies want, us to be addicted to tech so that they can sell us even more expensive shiny new gadgets. However this is a thread focusing on red light jumping and I guess the real question is how do we stop it for all road users ? -

Sadly, that also is true of cyclists and pedestrians. It seems everyone is glued to their phone whilst moving. Maybe we should ban phones (radical idea) and go back to how we all communicated before them. Face to face and talking to each other. -
Sigh James McAsh elected as Southwark Council’s next leader, amid unconfirmed ‘final round draw’ reports – Southwark News https://share.google/SSrYI6rbHHGXm0ZoF

Chatgpt is a joy (and scary) No Water on Barry Road" (to the tune of No Woman, No Cry) (Verse 1) No water… on Barry Road No water… on Barry Road Said, I remember, when we used to flow In the tap by the old front gate Oba served us clear, sweet water Then it vanished like fate And then the plumber would come in the evening Fixing pipes, sayin’, "Just hold tight" But every time we checked the faucet It was still a dusty fight (Chorus) No water… (no water) On Barry Road (on Barry Road) No water… yeah On Barry Road (Verse 2) I see the buckets lined up outside Hope in every pail we hold The sun be blazing, the kids be crying And the kettle’s running cold Good friends we had, and good friends we lost To the drought along the way In this bright future, we can't forget the past But we sure need water today (Chorus) No water… no flowin’ tide On Barry Road… we stand and sigh No water… but we still survive On Barry Road… we still try (Bridge) Oh, dry days will pass, I know Pipe dreams gotta start to flow But until then we wait and pray For rain or trucks to come our way (Final Chorus) No water… (no water) On Barry Road (on Barry Road) No water… no pride But still we rise… (It refused to sing it for me)

Came across this link today that generates a stock letter to you MP if you object to the Proposed chases in their current format. https://takingthepip.co.uk/write-to-your-mp/#letter Again, not trying to change individuals minds on here but get a fair consultation and discussion Only thing to remember is add your contact number to the bottom.orherwise it is ignored

@HeadNun I haven't been through the assessment for mental health issues, god knows they treat you like you have one when you are assessed for motability issues. Therefore I can't comment on what you've read but don't always believe what the media telks you as they often sensationalise things to sell papers and bend the story slightly 😉 All I am doing in this thread is asking people who disagree to the PIP reform in its current format to write to their MP to say so and ask for a well consulted and thought through change. I'm not here to change people's minds but happy to discuss how disability impacts lives.

Of course The tests are very stringent and they look carefully at claimants for things like how easily they can get up from an armless chair, if they don't use the chair arms thats a black mark, can they walk More 20 yards without problems including breathlessness, pain or even if they need aids (again over 20 yards reduces their chances of claiming) and so on Trust me, having been assessed a few times, its not easy or guarenteed to get or maintain PIP. But yes, the whole what is claimed for should be reviewed bur let's not penalise those who need it.
