  1. Cool I'll call EDT tomorrow. Is 7pm ok? I can book for then and we can prob be early or late and table/area should be booked hopefully. Will see what they say and report back. Shout if anyone wanted earlier.
  2. Hi all - we're growing in number (as well as in tum!) so I wondered should we try to book an area in the EDT? Would also make it easier to meet (otherwise could have pockets of ladies in badges dotted around the pub!) The drinks weren't my plan originally so don't want to steam in - what do you think? I can't recall who suggested EDT if they wanted to book - or I'm happy to? Good luck lstickler - my sis-in-law was given an indication of heart issues and there were none but she of course worried the whole time - I'm so wary/worried about false positives or false negatives for that reason - I guess you don't know for sure til they arrive! I'd love to see mine every other week but it must be tough for you to have to keep going back so often! My friend just had twins early at 32 weeks and they're both thriving now and totally healthy! I'm so looking forward to meeting a new circle of ED people and boy will we have plenty to talk about! ;o)
  3. Re the badges, incase anyone doesn't know, just ask at a tube station (someone by barrier rather than behind ticket counter when I went) they're free ;))
  4. Re 2nd scan, Clofty from an earlier post we had our first scan on the same day and my 2nd is 8th March so Kings seem to do them at 22 weeks. I've got 3 more days to wait than you too ;) I wouldn't worry. Re the meet up, I have visions of us all sat in the EDT wearing our Baby On Board badges so we know its our group ;)
  5. Hey all, Joining this thread a bit late but I'm also due in July (12th but convinced will be late and interrupt our first wedding anniv on 21st!!) and had my scan on 2nd Jan at Kings so may have even sat near you Clofty! I've just been looking into NCT classes so came on here to see any feedback. Would be great to meet some locals who are in the same boat and the 19th Feb works for me if that's ok? Wow for the 2 of you expecting twins - congrats - I was watching the screen in anticipation incase that was the case for me too! Looking forward to meet everyone! Ginster
  6. I had the same several months ago. I fed back to Southwark and Swann about the manner of the letter - seems they haven't taken this on board! They boxed in the electrics in our hallway (we're 2 flats in a converted terraced house). I believe this work is following the terrible fire in the tower block in Camberwell a couple of years ago so they are checking electrics etc. They weren't always reliable in coming when planned which was annoying for my neighbour as it was her turn to wait in. The comment about the locksmith is terrible I think and I also was as concerned as you!
  7. Good luck to you - I have lived nearby for nearly 8 years and have never fancied going in the Vale before - now it sounds like I would definitely want to go in with the changes afoot - but I'm leaving ED in 2 weeks! Shame! Will have to see about popping in on a future ED visit I guess.
  8. Just found this thread randomly via google - glad managed to get the parcel to you in the end a few months back!
  9. I've lived on Copleston for 7 years and love it. As people have said - near East Dulwich and Peckham Rye stations (And P Rye will connect to Overground end of 2012) so it's well placed for transport, lots of buses (and some are 24 hour) so only a short walk home from near ED station. Sainsburys isn't far, Lordship Lane very close. It feels like East Dulwich but SE15 is Peckham, you will actually find one end is SE22 (ED), middle is SE15 (Peckham) and just off is SE5 (Camberwell). Parking is always available but just not always outside your house (at least it's free and not residents permits yet.) East Dulwich has got better and better over the years and Copleston has been mentioned as a "desirable road" in decent newspapers so I'd say go for it!
  10. Thanks all - will spread the notes a little further than originally planned. I don't think any pipe-blocking will be going on from my property - too much like hard work as well as probably illegal! Thanks all.
  11. Dodo1 - luckily I had just updated my Homecare agreement so this was actually covered, most relieved! Not sure if I can get people to flush die down but think will drop a note to houses either side to politely ask about not flushing items other than loo roll!
  12. Thanks e-dealer - I might drop them a note either side. One side do have a baby too which could explain the wipes. Upstairs swear it isn't them (this last happened 2 yrs ago) hence me trying further afield - obviously upstairs are covered by your point on gravity computedshorty. I'm in a mid-terraced house, I have the ground floor converted flat, no idea where an inspection hole might be, I know it flows from the within my property to the back garden but that's it. Possibly is the neighbours to the right as it comes out of my property that way. Loz - the only person complaining would be me! Already had to clear a waste-filled patio so I'm not about to block it myself! ;o(
  13. Had a 2nd drain blockage due to "someone" flushing sanitary towels and baby wipes down their toilet. This doesn't come from my property as I would never flush those things but of course I have to deal with the problem (calling dynorod and clearing up loo roll and sewer mess from patio!) so I'm hoping I can find out who shares my drains so I can politely ask them to stop flushing stuff that shouldn't be flushed anyway, even more so in a Victorian property! If anyone knows please shout, googling hasn't helped so far, next stop will call Southwark Council but from experience calling them I'm not holding my breath! Or would Thames Water know/help does anyone know? Thanks!
  14. Haven't used this in a while but it's in my phone as Southwark Noise 0207 525 5777, if not am sure it'll be on their website somewhere
  15. Luckily they sorted mine out with a refund and I removed the OEP using a ticket machine. It had basically turned my card into a PAYG even though I had a zone 1 and 2 and was being charged in those zones it was like it didn't realise. Guess I'll see next time the queue is too long at the ticket booth whether it works going outside my zones. I guess only worry is if it doesn't work and I'm challenged they'll probably see I have put an OEP on before and challenge why I hadn't this time...
  16. Hi, Interesting reading this thread as I live in Copleston Rd, been here over 5 years now. I echo many of the comments here. There is also unrestricted parking in the roads around here which is useful. My input... I have a 2 bed flat (just, the 2nd is v. small) but a very big garden (I've the bottom half of a house), FYI rented it out 07/08 for ?1000pcm. Not sure how rental around here has changed or not with all the recent housing fun and games but obviously the agent window displays can give you an idea there. It's great for proximity to the station, 6-7 mins walk to ED. 13 mins to Peckham Rye which opens up more options (eg a nearly empty train in the morning to Lewisham to get DLR). Trains home are a pain, after 8pm they're only every half an hour from London Bridge as mentioned with the last at 11.48pm. I usually get a bus or a cab if it's a late one. 176 bus is great as it's 24 hours and goes from Tott Court Rd/Strand/Waterloo to Lordship Lane so very useful. Bellenden area not bad, wish more shops would get into the "village" bit or at least stay for a bit longer but again hard times I guess. It's also just about 5 mins walk to get to Lordship Lane and Sainsbury's is not much further (with the P13 bus going down Avondale Rise from Sainsbury's it's useful for getting home with your shopping if you don't have a car). Good luck! Happy for you to PM me if you had any more questions.
  17. Izodia - I think you are right. I added an OEP on Friday that I ended up not using (not sure if you can remove or whether I should have as didn't use it as my plans changed). Now on a day-to-day basis I don't touch in and out all the time as I have a travelcard and I believed I didn't need to. However since that last OEP my PAYG credit has been zapped at the strangest times from stations within zone 1 and 2! (I have a 1 & 2 annual travelcard). So I will be phoning the oyster helpline tomorrow!! (warning - rang tonight, got to press some buttons and listen to some messages before it told me it shut at 8pm - great!) Basically I don't think I am ever going to bother with OEP again or even touching in and out from outside the zone travelling in as I have no clue of the cost/whether it will work properly/get my gold card discount. I'm going to go back to buying paper extensions as before as at least I know how much they should cost and where I am with those!!
  18. Latest from me... Put an OEP on my card from the ticket machine at ED on Monday - was quick and easy. Headed to Croydon for a few hours and then returned, didn't put another OEP on in Croydon as believe if you start outside your zones to head back in you don't need one/it works it out. It all worked - however I lost money. When I buy a paper ticket I get a gold card return from boundary zone 2 to Croydon stations. That costs ?2.30. The charges on Monday were ?1.70 on the way out and ?2.20 on the way back - bit confusing that the prices were different for exactly the same journey and rather annoying that the system wasn't clever enough to charge me the usual return ticket price as all my travel was on the same day. So looks like queuing at the ticket office just like before for me so I get the best price!
  19. Hi guys, It's a long shot but my mate lost her Blackberry last night. If anyone finds one pls message me. Lost in street or in The Bishop, Adventure or Liquorish. Thanks! Hurray - someone found it and has got in touch - good to know there are still good people out there! ;o)
  20. I agree how disgusting and unhygienic it is and there are always several in the estate opposite East Dulwich station which is my route to the station. Without fail there is always one right next to a yellow stencil trying to prevent this very thing so I'm not sure how much they really help. Everyone knows they should clear up after their dogs, however it seems ED have a far too large group who don't. I also mentioned it when the MPs were canvassing recently - will also note the council links mentioned in here. I would definitely mention it to a dog owner if I saw them walk off but so far not seen this "in action". Just a shame that people care less in general these days - I would never litter, but plenty do, likewise if I had a dog I would know the responsibility that comes with it regarding cleaning up!
  21. So... another update from me - on another thread I've seen comments on how to get an OEP on a ticket machine and the other morning I happened to look as I walked past a machine and saw the option on the screen (I think it was the ED station ticket machine) so next time I have some time before a train and there is no queue I will have a look to see if I can get that option to appear! So far I've still been buying paper extensions when going out of zone. I also still hope for the day you can buy extension tickets (eg from boundary zone 2) from a machine...
  22. Posted by: Izodia Yesterday, 09:21AM And what happens if you travel outside of your travelcard zones with PAYG but don't have an OEP on your card? I was looking forward to using Oyster PAYG at weekends for journeys outside my usual commute. But needing to get these OEPs seem to cancel out any added convenience. Exactly what I had hoped Izodia - but no - it's as complicated (and so far impossible) to get an OEP too, I have yet to find it on a machine. It was annoying enough before that you couldn't by a boundary zone extension ticket from a machine, for me nothing has changed and I still have to queue up at a ticket booth ;o(
  23. This is just getting more complicated! FYI I did hear back from TFL (with an apology for it taking a while) but they said the OEP for travelcards on Oyster was a condition the TOCs (Train Operating Companies) insisted on when rolling out Oyster to stations. I looked on Saturday at rather a flashy new looking ticket machine at Charing Cross - still no sign of OEP on that machine so not sure where to get these from other than queueing at the ticket office. Now from reading above I'm not sure what is cheaper, maybe I should just by a separate PAYG oyster and use that when I go outside of zone 2 which (thankfully with all this complication) isn't that often.
  24. I'd imagine you can't as it would specify Peckham Rye as the station. Could try asking the staff at the Peckham Rye ticket counter?
