Whilst I object to areas of Camberwell being renamed to dissociate them from the problem areas or associate them with East Dulwich I would actually like to see a lot more cross border trade. I think that the new development will be a sharp looking modern house not unlike the one found along Stories Mews on the corner with Stories Road. That is a great house. Have a look...
  2. Have you been to Morph *Bob*? It's on Camberwell Station Road. It's a community scheme where ex convicts are taught to recondition furniture which has been donated and is resold. Heard of it? Been there?
  3. Jif lemon and sugar..
  4. I can see how they look like the sort of thing lots of recent designs are copying but I'm certianly not up to harnessing their charm or reusing them. Will you do the work yourself?
  5. Extractor will go to the outside. Do those other stone finsihes not collect condensation then? Have you got a link where I can see them? Interesting environmental offsetting. We all do it I suppose.. the bare, socially acceptable, minimum that is.
  6. So thumbs up for slate? Hasn't everyone got slate right now though?
  7. What about underfloor heating? Is that worth the extra hassle and expense? I don't agree about stone worktop - granite at least- my mum's is cr@p because it's cold so it's always collecting condensation. Always wet and needing a polish. Her problem is compounded by a 'state of the art' extractor fan that condenses rather than extracting. Keeps grease off the ceiling but does nothing to reduce humidity in the room and the formation of puddles on the cold stone. Also -surely in organic, environmental ED an American fridge is about as welcome as a Hummer in the driveway.
  8. Great stuff I am a bit of a design philistine so I appreciate the support. I appreciate the IKEA tips but I'm afraid that we are constrained to Magnet due to a relationship between our guy and them. They will not be involved in installation etc and are only providing the cupboards. What about slate floor tiles. Is that a bit too now and likely to date or is it an enduring finish? My girlfirend accepts my stance regarding personalisation and resale but is hoping to trendy it up with a 50s (or70s I can't tell)stand alone kitchen unit out of her dad's garage. I'm not sure but at least we can easily take it away once she tires of it. Is she on the money or off the mark?
  9. Thanks for all the input. You are in danger of putting my design guy out of business. I am intersted in this glass splashback but it'll have to be clear or only slightly tinted. I reckon the more fashionable and lurid colours and wallpaper offer potential banana skins for the less design savvy amongst us. I want it to be safe and enduring. I can even handle dull as long as it's got longevity. Apparently wall cupboards are a mistake now. Heard that? Seems we have to halve our storage for the sake of the aesthetic. This is eye opening stuff. These are the most likely cupboard fronts. Couldn't get completely integrated handles without a wait and a premium... http://www.magnet.co.uk/default.asp?idcode=google+Magnet Edit link doesnt work. It only gets you to the main page. They are called stuido white, in the contemporary collection. Contemporary worries me a little. Reminds me of my black fake teak bedroom furniture I had when I was fourteen. Be honest- what do you think?
  10. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ta-daaaaar! > > http://www.opticolour.co.uk/kitchens_with_opticolo > ur_coloured_glass_splashbacks_installed.html Our man said glass *Bob* and I thought it was weird. Seems you know your onions. The rest of the kitchen is a mess. It will be plain white units with integrated handles, dark wood tops, plain black slate rectangular floor tiles, chrome range cooker and hood, chrome coloured fridge, white ceramic sink. Any obvious errors in there?
  11. All Bar One is the new Foxtons. All the Foxtons chatter has subsided now they're in. We needed a new hot topic. If there's a choice then I prefer Bar HAHA!
  12. The guy who is designing and fitting our kitchen reckons that those little brick shaped kitchen tiles are naff: http://www.wallsandfloors.co.uk/ranges.php?rid=585&t=Tile&cid=16 I thought they were too trendy and would quickly date the kitchen. He reckons it's gone way past that. So what should we use for our splashback bit? nb this is a design based discussion not a wanted ad so please don't move the post
  13. Seems we were either too boring (me) or too critical of the validity of online debate (you). Ah well.
  14. Metaphorically speaking then I guess it's Steven Gerrard? Literally then I guess it's Pancake and Alex.
  15. My comment was that I posted on a forum about the inadequacy of forums but no one did anything about it. Perhaps I should have put a smiley face at the end. Thank you for your kind words.
  16. How do you eat an elephant? One piece at a time. People who post on forums about the inadequacy of posting on forums should either start up a movement against the proliferation of internet based discussion or keep their opinions to themselves.
  17. I love the reason for Pancake's name. Thanks Incitatus. I've heard them sing 'What's that cumming over your bird, is it a gangster, is it a gangster' to the tune by the Automatic. Is Pancake also a gangster or is that a reference to another of Ms Curran's indiscretions?
  18. BJ you are trying to undermine my calls for pedestrianisation by saying that I was previously distracted from the real deabte by your poshbashing and by saying that I should stay out of it because I don't live in the street. In truth you are only intersted in silencing those who don't share your opinion about the reopening of the road by any means at your disposal. I regularly use Camberwell Grove as a pedestrian. It's lovely. It will be less lovely when the traffic returns especially if there is a traffic light. I would prefer to see the bridge stay closed and would extend that to say I'd like to see it turned into a pedestrian and cycle route only. If such a change has a detrimental impact on traffic in your road then I would happily support your campaign to have your road converted to pedestrian and cycle use only too. Really glad you enjoyed my posts on Windsor Walk.
  19. Good luck with the revolution Chav. Keep backtracking BJ but you can't reasonably deny your spite laden earlier posts. Glad to hear you have been taking notice of Regeneguru. He's definitely the man. Here's the link you didn't want me to paste - thanks for the heads up: http://www.se5forum.org/forum/index.php/topic,589.0.html Sorry!
  20. http://fametastic.co.uk/archive/20060813/2154/england-wag-alex-curran-arrest-on-suspicion-of-assault/ Within this dross is a post from a girl in Maghull who claims that Alex Curran slept with a bouncer called Pancake behind Steven Gerrard's back. Apparently Pancake has got nude pics of Curran in the bath. Anyone heard this before? Is that why Everton fans sing 'the baby's not yours' to Steven Gerrard?

  22. I accept that some people want the road reopened, and even that potentially more people want it reopened than would like to see it closed. I also think that a number of people jumped on the reopening band wagon out of spite towards the residents. I think that your post, BJ, about finding fun in making them look silly and selfish was particularly telling. As for getting the wrong end of the stick then I also accept that there is a serious underlying issue that got a bit muddied amidst all the posh baiting and the class war but I personally never lost sight of my own agenda which is to encourage the pedestrianisation of Camberwell Grove. That's not to say I converted anyone either -perhaps I should have gone to the meeting. That would have done it.
  23. That's the point though. The old left backbench was appeased by the hunting ban because it sticks a finger up at the elite the leadership were happy to allow this as it didn't really upset the applecart. Those people should be lobbying for an increased minimum wage or grants for higher education or something. The idea that the imbalance in Camberwell is somehow redressed by not letting the residents of Camberwell Grove close their bridge is a little optimistic.
  24. You are right DS. There is an important underlying issue which should not be undermined by people delighting in having a go a the residents of CG.
  25. I enjoyed 'our' goal and there was a bit of tension towards the end. The standard was about what I expected. Very physical and not much passing. I think our no. 6 is very good -smaller skinhead guy at the back. Read the game well. I though it was funny that we have a hardcore of fans who stand behind the goal at the far end and wear kits and the like. I'll go again but it's not to appreciate beautiful football. I'm not really a purist in that respect. Is the AFC Wimbledon game likely to be busier perhaps? Next match is a week on Tuesday. I reckon I'll be there..
