It's the pro-organic lobby that is oversimplifying everything with their blanket non-acceptance of modern farming methods. I think technology should be judged on merit not condemned as harmful artificial interference. It is a ridiculous leap of faith to say that if it's natural it's ok and any intervention is harmful. What is ironic is the overlap between the organic loving Guardianista and the Dawkins' mob from the Enemies of Reason thread. Seems like they aren't the atheists they thought they were - more pagan worshippers of Mother Earth.

Ha ha - good one!

You know you're addicted when you contribute to a limerick that doesn't scan and isn't rude, funny or clever. There are lots of addicts about.

My mate put in a pitch for a quiz show where members of the public actually staked their own cash in the hope of winning large sums. Televised gambling with significant emotional fall-out. A good idea- imagine watching Trisha-trash gambling their last ?100 in the world and losing. He blew the pitch though because in spite of the originality of the concept he made the actual show almost indistinguishable from Bullseye. He got a number of polite rejection letters from various production companies. It is difficult to be creative LTP that's why I am glad that I have my City and Guilds hairdressing certificate. Gives me something to fall back on if I run out of topiary ideas or lose my touch with the shears.

Plausible hypothesis. Certainly one in the eye for the organic herd if it proves to be the case. I think that banning pesticides, fertilizer and the like is a bit like when Jovo's won't let their kids go to the doctors. Organic is just a brand, marketed well but with no substantive value and I like many others have been suckered into buying it just to keep up with my fellow forumites. No more. Our turkey was from William Rose last Christmas- back to Iceland this year.

Go for it. Shoot the messenger.

Insecticides can be used to combat bluetongue but using them would prevent the meat from being able to be labeled as Organic. It is indisputable that there are conflicts between the desire for organic meat and the need to combat bluetongue. I have decided to stop eating organic meat to show my support for the farmers and I hope others will follow suit..

Why not let the people at channel 4 know what you think about the quality of network television by responding to their link in the wanted section? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,49359

Some guidance on the use of insecticides to control the spread of bluetongue can be found here: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/diseases/notifiable/pdf/bluetongue_technical.PDF Seems it's the animals themselves that need to be treated with insecticide rather than their food as I previously suggested. But that's just not organic is it?

bawdy-nan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > I've yet to discover anything that will keep the > midge away. > Have you heard of insecticide? Organic farming is at least partly to blame but William Rose are only required to anchor the debate in SE22.

Do you shop exclusively at William Rose? Is all the meat in William Rose organic? If so does that mean that the animals have been fed on crops grown without insecticide? If so does that mean that you are inadvertantly responsible for the latest farming crisis? Just wondered..

Next Forum Drinks - Friday 12th October at the George Canning

Canning would be nice for Scor46 and maybe Scor46 should be rewarded for showing an interest in the Forum. How about free chips and sambuca shots Scor46? I'm sure that would clinch it.. You might even get a guest appearance from a local celebrity. -

As for you Domitianus then I'd be interested to know how your parents feel about your attitude to children and whether they blame themselves at all... -

You finally got off the fence and risked offending people. Great post. As for having kids. I am confident that you would be an excellent father and are exactly the sort of person who should be having kids. I doubt that you'd regret it but you might have to spend a bit less time bevvying... -

Why not put it out to tender? If you put a pitch together showing photos of previous forum drinks and briefly outlined the number of people that go, the good free advertising on the forum and the ensuing word of mouth recommendations then I'm sure loads of places would be offering free/discount drinks and food just to get you in the door. -

If you don't like all of the middle class amenities in ED then there's no point paying a premium to live there. As you are quite prudently aiming to release equity to remove your mortgage burden then I think that it is a good idea after all. Go for it. Trade up, reduce your mortgage and find a local demograph where you feel more comfortable. Good luck. -
Thank you Tracy Chapman. I still stand by what I said about you being a hypocrite though *Bob*- I haven't gone completely soft.

Stay where you are. After fees and moving costs your cash withdrawal will work out to be incredibly bad value and your new place will not appreciate at the same rate. You risk making an expensive mistake for the sake of short term liquidity. -
Saw her last night in the shop near the Canning. She looks younger in real life and she seems really nice. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy her TV work and the fact that she has sold so many books is testament to the fact that she is providing entertainment to lots of people. OK she doesn't like North Camberwell. It's an aquired taste and its certainly not got many amenities that appeal to middle aged wealthy white women. Also I now think that the lipstick is part of a perfectly justifiable media persona and that the house is lovely and that the see through blinds are stylish. And surely what looks like a guffawing dinner party from the outside is a superb evening for all those involved. What I'm trying to say is I have been unfair and I am sorry.

SLP lifts stories straight off this forum. They're all at it. The point is Jenny Eclair should be down at the Green paying her respects not annexing Denmark Hill Village to East Dulwich.
