http://www.guardian.co.uk/secondworldwar/story/0,,2171148,00.html Sad story.

It's not everyone's cup of methodone. There is a new war memorial you might want to photograph though.

Where in ED can you watch the Rugby?

How could they forget a guy who orders Babycham?! -
No spinning rule is enforced by people who aren't good enough to beat people who spin. Anyone with any class would relish the opportunity to devour a spinner. Easy pickings. Less legislation - more action.

It sells Keef. That's all that matters. Just think of the hill top 5 bed house.

That logic would make me jealous of Mikey Carrol. My problem with Eclair is that she publicly slates Camberwell. I don't mind when you do it but you don't live here. I did get a bit upset when Mockney did it. You seem to be a bit of a paradox to me. Whilst you have a massive hard-on for mediocre celebrities cashing in through shiddy books and unfunny comedy you have a huge downer on highly educated investment bankers cashing in on their wealth generating success. Similarly, whilst you bemoan capitalism and its harmful environmental side effects you also seem to be one of the most wealth obsessed housing snobs on the forum. Are you jealous of Mikey Carrol *Bob*?

But the truth is much > closer to home. ie - her home.. and your home. Sorry *Bob* - I missed this before. I guess that you are saying that I am slagging off Eclair because I live in a 2 bed 80s house at the bottom of the hill and she lives in a five bed designer house at the top of the hill and therefore I am jealous. Is that right?

Whilst there are celebrities worth poking I'm not sure that Eclair or Nesbit would make the grade.

The first time the Cunninghams and the Metcalfs went on holiday, Jed was just a toddler and Anna was very frightened that he might drown. Jo had hired a villa in the north of Majorca with a pool, which was marvellous but meant, of course, that there had to be an adult lifeguard on duty at all times. Nigel was also rather worried about going to Majorca; he?d been to Magaluf as a teenager and the pal he?d gone with had returned home with genital warts. Genital warts were one of Nigel?s phobias, they had to be burnt off and can re-occur for life. To Nigel, the mere mention of Majorca conjured up sexually transmitted disease. His suspicions were confirmed when they boarded the plane at Gatwick, only to find it was full of Sun-reading common types, demanding lager on a 10am flight - and that was just the women. Nigel thought they all looked like they were riddled with genital warts.

"Camberwell Beauty is the story of Anna, a butter-side-up sort of woman; Anna's neighbour Jo, the kind of woman who can ask for a pound of sausages without the butcher smirking; their sons and daughters ? nancy-boy Jed, snivelling Henry, prepubescent ?berbitch Georgina and fat Pandora; Jo's husband Nigel, a terrible one for casual sex; and Anna's husband 'good old Chris', the worm that turns. From ageing to in-laws, affairs to weight problems, Jenny Eclair's debut novel brilliantly dissects the problems of urban living."

Have you ever read one of her books RosieH?
-
Oh right thanks for that Jessie! Good job you are here to signpost the irony.
-
I doubt she's a slag Rosie but you are entitled to your opinion. Personally I think that the lipstick is about attention seeking. That is her job though and apparently she tones it down in Sainsbury's.

I haven't seen it in ED either. It's a myth. Not that I'm complaining- saying hello to randomers is massively overrated.

I'm not sure that Bermondsey can be the new East Dulwich. There are 119 registered sales in excess of ?1million in SE1 http://www.houseprices.co.uk/e.php?q=se1&s=111&f=pd&n=10 East Dulwich has nine. http://www.houseprices.co.uk/e.php?f=pd&q=se22&n=10

For 1. It's close to the bars and pubs of Camberwell 2. It's close to the 'funky' Bellenden area of Peckham 3. It's handy for Dulwich Village 4. It's within reach of Brockwell Park and the Lido 5. It's near to Peckham Rye Park Against It's slightly further out and less well connected than it's marginally cheaper, significantly cooler neighbours in Camberwell and Peckham.

That article is cr@p. Woman lives in unusual house in area she doesn't like much. So what? She lives on Grove Lane. The house is ok but it's a bit embarrassing that you can see her guffawing dinner parties through the transparent blinds as you walk past. Privacy was obviously not a priority for the design but then her red lip-stick is similarly indiscrete.

Can the East Dulwich micro economy survive a recession?
Alan Dale replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
However Hugonought may have misinterpreted my posts I think it important to note that buy to let investing is strictly a long term investment. I don't advise anyone to do it- I just don't complain about those who do. -
That new gym that's opening on Lordship Lane
Alan Dale replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Did I say it sounds rubbish? What I meant to say is 'I'm not a gym person myself'. There is arguably only a semantic difference between those two statements. Judging by the number of celebrities people have spotted in and around ED then I think the gym will do well and despite my own disinterest I too wish you all the very best of British luck.
