  1. Liverpool are definitely benefitting by not having to play in the Europa League. I'm not using that as an excuse for how shite Spurs are but I think it is an advantage over other teams who have had to participate in that competition. I'm rather hoping we finish 8th this season.
  2. I'm talking about Woolwich Wanderers, the club they call the Arsenal. Going back to SJ's thing about Reyes getting roughed up. He couldn't hack British football. He'd go over with a gust of wind. He was an easy target. It's no wonder he soon went back to Spain. They've been plenty of Arsenal players over the years who could cut it rough if they wanted to.
  3. 20 minutes before the game is a reasonable time.
  4. He's talking about the Wanderers, Alan.
  5. Not in a million years M'Lady.
  6. I hate Arsenal. They're a very well run club. They have faith in their manager, who is exceptional. Every season he delivers. They have a massive stadium bought and paid for without slipping down the league. They may not have won anything for a while but every damn season they finish above Spurs and qualify for the Champions League and at the same time play very attractive football. I cannot accuse them of being the boring boring Arsenal of old, which is exactly what they were before Arsene Wenger. I've enormous respect for him as a manager. He's one of the best. I hate his guts. My team, Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand promise so much and every season or two chop and change managers and get nowhere. They nearly always let you down. As a lifelong supporter of Spurs, it's the hope that kills us. Good performance from the boys tonight though. Another season, another false dawn. Same old same old. Here's Tom with the weather.
  7. Or put an extra zero on the payment.

  9. Do we really need two threads on the same subject?
  10. Yeah, ^ that statement is utter bollocks. I have never ever ever needed to shout above plane noise in East Dulwich or anywhere come to think of it. You sir, are talking out of your arse.
  11. Some people hear voices in their head, others it would seem, hear aeroplanes.
  12. "Drop-ins welcome." How about drop-outs?

I'm quite the guy who wrote it really doesn't know what he's talking about. No one has gone into a bar in 30+ years and ordered "a pint of best." I found it quite amusing nonetheless.

That might be so but you can't possibly know that.

The Emperor's new booze. Quite an amusing piece on craft beer. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/10638933/Am-I-the-only-man-in-Britain-who-hates-craft-beer.html
  16. BLOODY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR! This is an article by Theo Delaney published today in The Sabotage Times and sums it all up for me. Spurs: How Bad Does It Have To Get Before Classless Tim Goes? How has it come to this? Spurs started the season with a hundred million pounds worth of new talent in the charge of a manager who?d just achieved their highest ever Premier League points total. By the end of September the team was nicely poised in third place in the league and scoring freely in the Europa and Carling Cups. Last night Spurs were completely outclassed at home by Benfica a side that had to sell 70 million euros worth of players in January due to financial difficulties and actually rested several of its regular starters. This after a 4-0 humbling at Chelsea and a string of awful performances that leave the fans in fear of the ultimate humiliation ahead of Arsenal?s visit on Sunday. Chief culprit, of course, is beleaguered Tim Sherwood who combines tactical cluelessness with a willingness to shatter team spirit in his efforts to blame anyone but himself. He spent the aftermath of the Chelsea debacle shouting loudly that it was all the players? fault, not his. Last night, perhaps realising that rubbishing the team can start to rebound on a manager when the performances just get worse, he turned on Jorge Jesus, the Benfica manager whose exuberant celebrations he took exception to. The irony of Sherwood accusing his Portuguese counterpart afterwards of ?lacking class? won?t have been lost on many. But what?s the point of continuing to bash Sherwood? He got the job by accident and he?s not remotely good enough, these are the simple facts. His charmless, out-for-himself approach merely exacerbates a bad situation. The horrific possibility now is that a highly motivated Arsenal side will arrive on Sunday with the scent of blood in their nostrils. It?s very hard to see how Spurs can raise themselves sufficiently to avoid being swept away. Would there be any point in firing the manager before the season?s end? Probably not. On the other hand, how bad would it have to get before the sheer scale of the humiliation forced him out? Despite Sherwood having the brass neck to complain that there was a gulf in quality last night this Spurs squad remains of a high standard. A good manager ? even a half way decent one ? could get it competing again at a high level. At least that prospect is something for the fans to cling to.
  17. Joe Strummer was a posh boy slumming it, or should that be strumming it? Always felt he was a bit of a fake. Whereas all of the Pistols were proper working class boys from council estates and they meant it man. As for lyrics Lydon wrote some gems. "Cheap holidays in other peoples misery," from Holidays In The Sun. and "We're the flowers in the dustbin," from God Save The Queen are a couple of great lines that spring to mind.
  18. Lovely part of the world ClareC. I have friends in Benenden, Cranbrook, Tenderten and Kinardington. Quite a few of them ex-Dulwich people.
  19. Yep, read that this morning. The cabbie said he'd never seen anyone so drunk. Winker!

You must be thinking of somewhere else as there are no houses opposite. That little row of shops on Wood Vale overlook Camberwell Old Cemetery. Two Trees was good. Do wish the owners would reopen or at least do something with that space. Love the Turkish Supermarket too.
  21. Yep, typical.
  22. I'm going to Spurs v Benfica tonight and back to the Lane again for the north London derby. I can't say I'm filled with confidence in either game.
