  1. Cor! It's a corker this thread.

  3. I'm disappointed in you *Bob*. Thought I'd set you up nicely there. Oh well.
  4. I can honestly say I've never enjoyed any of the Star Wars films that I've seen. Same goes for Star Trek. Not my bag at all.
  5. All true. I was much younger than the rest of the journalists that played football then so I could run rings around most of them and scored frequently. I was quite a talented player as a young man even if I say so myself. NB: I'm looking forward to (dreading) *Bob's* reply to this one. ;-)
  6. I never said it was stunning.
  7. Ho ho ho ho. No. He preferred girls. So do I.
  8. HOW I BROKE MAX CLIFFORD'S KNEE Back in the early 80s I regularly played football with a bunch of journalists, most of whom like myself worked at Mirror Group Newspapers. Once a week we'd meet up and play seven-a-side near Kings Cross then adjourn to a boozer nearby and sink a few beers together before staggering back to the office. Max Clifford was one of those players as was Sir Nicholas Lloyd. One afternoon during a game Max was marking me tightly and as a cross came in we both went for the same ball. I shrugged him off easily and beat him in the air to score with a far post header. As he fell to the ground, Max landed awkwardly and broke his knee. Just thought I put that out there. True story.

  10. Is he Graham Swift in disguise?
  11. Wait until the football season is over. It'll get ramped up x100 then.
  12. No. That was Last Orders.
  13. I blame the press, especially the tabloids.
  14. Hmmmm....Takes bait. Your lot failed to qualify again didn't they? Sounds like sour grapes from a true Scotsman to me.
  15. It's a very complicated op but let's hope he pulls through.
  16. I seriously doubt it MrBen. It's possible he played there but we can't be sure without any proof. I've always known the pub as the East Dulwich Tavern or EDT for short. I rather think the cabbie was pulling your plonker. Adonirum - I saw U2 at the Marquee Club when they first started out.

Too heavy and cumbersome for a drinking vessel. When my dad passed away and we had to clear out his house we found at least 20 of 'em. No one wanted them so in the bin they went. A straight glass every time my friend.
  18. Agree Titch. They need a commanding centre back as well. The Brazilian Dante is just not good enough.
  19. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That affordability thread began to bore the ass > off me several pages ago. So why start another one?
  20. They played the Uplands when they where called The Spectres. You are of course correct about the first gig being at the village sports ground.
  21. LD, the skyline has changed because the old stadium was knocked down to make way for Sainsburys and rebuilt adjacent to where it is now.
