  1. Any relation to V2 Schneider? I'm going to hell in a handcart.
  2. Wayne Rooney is quite possibly the most over-rated footballer in England. I'm quite Man Utd would do just as well with or without him.

  4. Good luck. so glad you've gone back to calling it The Cherry Tree.
  5. I've have most of his stuff. Am a big fan. He's one of the best writer's around. Enjoy.
  6. Rodgers was Spurs first choice to replace Harry and had apparently agreed a contract with Spurs when Liverpool came in and off he went. Capello was second choice but proved to be too expensive. Enter AVB. The jury's out but it's early days for all the new managers in the Premiership.
  7. Oh, shush El Pibe.
  8. Hoorah! It's back at last. COYS!
  9. Hoorah! COYS!
  10. Aaaah! Back to inner-city bitchiness. I may be a Spud but I also think Woolwich Wanderers will do well this season though it pains me to say so if not cup success then they will certainly once again finish in the top three. Other than that I certainly will not be making any predictions this early apart from West Ham will stay up and finish mid-table, only a few points below Spurs. It's good to have the Irons back and some regular ribbing from Quids et al. I can't wait for MOTD tomorrow night.
  11. Spurs were going to knock the OS down and build a new one as the pitch is too far from the stands it wouldn't work as a football stadium.
  12. Well, I'm still waiting for Spurs to sign a few strikers let alone one. Apart from the youngster Harry Kane we've only got Jermain Defoe as our only recognised striker on the books. I am not optimistic at all about our chances of winning anything this year. I'm not convinced about AVB and I think we're in for a very tough start to the season whether we make some big signings or not.
  13. Mockney or not he has my sympathy. Parkinson's Disease is facking horrible.
  14. Good luck on this very welcome news but if you're going to change the name of the pub could please revert it back to it's original name - The Cherry Tree.
  15. ?I'm not different for the sake of being different, only for the desperate sake of being myself. I can't join your gang: you'd think I was a phony and I'd know it.? - Vivian Stanshall.
  16. "Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx. "Ambition is the last refuge of a failure." - Oscar Wilde. "Tell him I'm fcuking busy or vice versa." - Dorothy Parker.
  17. Herr Hitler, not Her or Heir. Anyway, crap thread. Move along now, nothing to see here.
  18. People who say "awesome" to describe just about anything. They need a good slap with a dictionary.
  19. Kings Road, Chelsea. Now just like any other high street and full of tourists, although it's been so long since I've been down there I would think even they have gone elsewhere. I think the Chelsea Potter is the only pub left as well. Please tell me that hasn't gone too.
  20. I appreciate that Rolo. Even Thierry Henry has said in the past that Ledley King is the best defender he's faced. He was not just a brilliant centre half, but an inspirational one, a fantastic footballer, captain and role model. A dedicated, loyal one club man. I'm hoping that the club choose to retire the number 26 shirt in his honour.
  21. Ledley was told by his doctor to quit playing four years ago. It's incredible how he managed to keep playing. He has no cartilage in his left knee. The pain he must have gone through to play football is incredible. On his day and when fully fit he was without question one of the best centre-backs I've seen. Majestic, Supreme, of the highest Order, Imposing, Regal, Magnificent, Grand. He really did live up to his name. Long Live the King!
  22. Back in the day when I worked on The Sporting Life I remember getting paid on a Thursday but had pissed it all up the wall by Saturday but I got a tip on a horse at 66-1. It was a dead cert. I'd heard all that before but I borrowed two quid off a colleague who was also backing it and told me to get on it, so I duly put the money down. The horse won. I can't remember the name of the horse or the race as it was such a long time ago (late 70s) but my winnings were equivalent to more than two weeks wages back then. Now as far as I'm concerned that was the greatest race ever.
  23. I was walking along Piccadilly yesterday afternoon and this bloke in front of me seemed to be yapping away to himself before I realised he had some earphones in. I thought he was a bit of a nutjob jabbering away. I soon recognised his gait and as I walked past I quickly realised it was Eddie Izzard!

Sorry to be a pedant but Raskolnikov is the protagonist in Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Crime And Punishment.
