Indeed. The best team won. I just knew Young would miss. He didn't look confident and was looking at the floor before his run up. I never fancied Cole scoring either. Justice prevailed though because Italy were by far the better side on the night. A world class performance from Pirlo tonight.

Yep! And if Rooney is world class I'm a Dutchman. Pirlo is the best player on the pitch tonight by quite some distance.

As good as he is it's far too early to compare Hart to Shilton. If it wasn't for Ray Clemence he would have had 200 caps. An amazing keeper. I remember one performance at White Hart Lane where he made some incredible saves including saving two penalties although I think we finally nicked it one-nil at the end if my memory serves me correctly. A goalkeeping legend.

That's been Spurs' footballing philosophy since the push and run side of the 50s. It's a simple game really. Pass and move. @Mac. Although my confidence maybe uncertain I'm really thinking Italy are there for the taking tonight. May well go to extra-time though.

I can't wait for kick-off. I'm feeling really fired up for this one. I just hope the players are too. COME ON ENGLAND!
  6. Apparently Modric is off to Real Madrid and Moutinho is coming to Spurs which makes sense if the new manager is AVB. Mountinho is quality and is having a great tournament with Portugal. He was AVB's main man at Porto.
  7. The piano is really up to your other half but I can certainly advise you on lessons. Look now further than here: - SE22 Piano School

  9. I make you right there Maxxi. Bloody shambles at White Hart Lane again.

  11. Sam Allardyce has promised West Ham fans that they are going to stay in the premiership for at least three seasons........autumn, winter and spring!
  12. Made me smirk. Mind you to be fair Spurs haven't won much lately either.
  13. Maybe he turned his nose up at wearing the new Liverpool 3rd kit.

You're too young to have watched that aren't you Mac? I remember watching it after a kickabout in the playground after school and the rushing home to watch the game. I'm an old fecker me. Enduring image isn't it. Jumpers for goalposts, russ goalie, three in the middle, 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-4 one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast, possibly. Don't quote me on that. Marvellous.

  17. Maybe not unreasonable but a good music venue/theatre/cinema perhaps where the police station is.

The Italians always struggle at first in most competitions but get stronger as a tournament progresses. Hopefully, they'll continue to struggle and get knocked out on Sunday. England latest: Wayne Rooney has tested positive for a performance enhancing rug.

Milner looks knackered and needs a rest. I'd rather the Ox started ahead of Walcott as his replacement. Walcott will still be a good impact sub as well as Defoe if we need a goal. I'd be very wary of starting Carroll up front against the Italians, they'd wind him up and try and get him sent off and I think he'd fall for it. I thought Young once again put in another poor performance but Gerrard, Terry, Johnson and Parker (who covered more ground than anyone else on the pitch 7.23 miles) were excellent though looking at Parker he doesn't look 100-per-cent fit. I'd like to be more optimistic about our chances but I think we've done well (with a slice of luck) to get where we are so far. I think we're capable of beating the Italians but whatever happens on Sunday it'll be very close.

Italy, then Greece, then Czech Republic and then the trophy - Easy!

Ahem! I think my fears about the officials were totally unfounded. And that ball wasn't 100-per-cent over the line. Oh no. Anyway, quarter-finals against Italy on Sunday. Bring it on.

Blimey, you're sticking your neck out there UDT. I wish I shared your confidence. We should beat Ukraine though even if they are playing at home but I suspect there will be some dark forces against us. FIFA hate us. What worries me is some dodgy refereeing decisions going against us.
  23. Great article. Thanks for that. I have a relative who lives in Columbia and works in Mexico City. I'm sure he'll be very interested in this.
  24. I met Tim Burgess briefly once in 93' backstage at a St Etienne gig. He seemed a bit of flake even then.
  25. Oh yes Quids. It was also always swamped with trendy students from the local art college as well. But quite a few faces in there too at one time or another - Peter Richardson and Pete Richens (Comic Strip), Robbie Coltrane, Bob Mortimer, Jenny Eclair and Miranda Sawyer and all over to the "Spanish" afterwards for a late sesh.
