  1. > How people life Jeffery Archer kept their > knighthoods after being to prison is beyond me. That's Lord Archer to you. He never received a knighthood. I take your point though. Should have been banished from the House Of Lords and stripped of his title. The man is devious lying little shit and his books are fecking shite.
  2. A very silly and arrogant assumption from Mancini. He should know by now that there are no easy games in the Premiership.

I also believe he mentions The Grove House Tavern (it's called something else now, can't remember what) at the bottom of Camberwell Grove in A Tale Of Two Cities but gives it a different name.

  5. Well it's about time Maxxi. It's certainly my local choice for viewing the football. All the wood carving is original. I'd hate to see any of that go. I took a couple of pictures for posterity. What I like about the place is it's like two pubs in one. I sat in the old bar on Sunday because I didn't want to watch the Arsenal match. To paraphrase Bill Shankly - "If they were playing in my back garden I'd draw the curtains." The Spitfire's good but so's the Doombar. They do a bloody good pint of Guinness too. Make sure you go back soon. Cheers!
  6. My pleasure Mr Ben. Enjoy.
  7. It's hard to smoke with a gag in your mouth Sue. :)) The people who complained about Hoopers are complete and utter cunts as far as I am concerned.

  9. Some regulars call it The Crystal others The Seepy Tea.
  10. I believe Charles Dickens lived in Dulwich Village for a short while. Hence you get Pickwick Road.
  11. I think you've hit the proverbial nail on the head Civilservant.
  12. Yeah! I can't believe RVP got away with that one especially as the ref said he clearly saw it. Still, last weekend Joleon Lescott got away with a blatant four-arm smash into Younis Kaboul's face but then the ref didn't see that one. As for Sturridge's dive. It seems a player only has to be given the merest touch in the box (arf!) for them to go down and shout for a penalty which is a very sad reflection on the way the game is played these days. @El Pibe - certainly a potential banana skin for Spurs if ever I saw one. Especially if they play as poorly as they did at Watford on Friday night. I'm off to White Hart Lane tomorrow for the game against Wigan and expecting much better. Probably not nine-nil though let alone eight. ;-)

  14. Free chicken wings last night whilst watching the football. A little undercooked if I may say so but again, nice touch. You always get nice friendly service at the CPT. Keep up the good work.

The sub editor has been fired for drinking on the job. So, the mice will play while the cat's away. Enjoy. Roll on Liverpool v Man Utd. That's going to be a bit tasty.
  16. What a marvelous weekend of football ahead of us we have with a couple of tasty confrontations ahead of us. They'll be plenty to talk about I'm sure. Will Evra play against the Pool? I'm damned sure Terry will play against QPR. Anyway, I'll hold my hand hands up and admit that Tottenham were bloody awful tonight even though we won with Van De Vaart's only contribution of the night. Goalie should have save it as well. Think the bounce done him.
  17. That'll learn yer Sue.
  18. Hmmm... sounds like disorientated drunk/cokehead banging on the wrong door in the wrong street after being kicked out of the Stab & Crime at closing time.
  19. Old school slackness.
  20. I've warmed to The Actress recently. One of the few places you can sit outside and enjoy a cigarette with your drink without completely freezing your nuts off due the the heaters outside. I agree it was a complete dump before.
  21. Bench warmers to get a run out.
  22. Tottenham of course.
  23. There are no CAMRA beards in the CPT to the best of my knowledge. Though I like a drop of ale myself you'll find most of the regulars drink lager or Guinness. They do however do a nice pint of Doom Bar and when it's on Spitfire or London Pride. You'll find plenty of those real ale buffs in Hoopers though. And in mentioning Hoopers there's one pub that has changed for the better and still kept it "real".
  24. Could agree with you more Otta. Traditional innit. Proper publike.
  25. The Uplands could never have continued as it was and the CPT probably can't either. Change is needed to survive otherwise it goes the way of The Oglander and The Heber Arms. I'd rather a company buys it, does something positive with it and succeeds than some other company buying it, closing it down completely and turning it into a block of flats.
